Random Summary of Everything That Has Happened So Far
First off, yesterday, Carson on cross country didn't make it back from the run in the mountains. Coaches Rob and Thalman went after him, then my mom picked me up. I have no idea if he's OK. He might have gotten lost, or gone home without checking back in, or he's hurt, or he got abducted by aliens. So I'm hoping he's all right. . .Anyways. . .
Cross country camp last week was a blast. Scandalous things happened, too. The girls all dirty danced to crazy music in our cabin. (I will admit, I did partake in that.) The senior boys, as tradition dictates, did striptease for talent night. Very funny, if I do say so myself, as I am somewhat biased in the matter. The juniors did a great job of making fun of the seniors. Very very funny. Wes talked about Wisconsin and his Wisconsonian accent. We asked him to pronounce words, and then he made fun of our accents. We Californians apparently, have a funny way of pronouncing McDonald's.
The band performed some hilarious songs for talent night. Rachel sang Amazing Grace so well, I was blown away. Louisa did an amazing song on her cello, and David did an incredible piano song.
The running wasn't so fun. Rob chose the hilliest courses he could find, and we ran twice a day. Yeesh. But we had plenty of free time, including one day for archery. I tried it out, and I'm actually not half bad. The boys were a little intimidated, calling me an assasin. I laugh.
Anyway, Tuesday night we had Girl's Night. It was illegal of course, as lights out was 10:30. We stayed up until 12. Someone thought they heard footsteps outside, and so we all stampeded to our bunks. If someone had really been there, the stampede would have tipped them off better than our hushed voices. Ah well, no one was there, but we went to bed quickly.
Wednesday night after the talent show, Rob extended our lights out to 12. We had to be quiet by 11. It was disappointing, because we all went to sleep at 10:30 because the big race was the next day. Well, anyway, we ran around like monkeys outside our cabins, and ran onto the grassy field where we usually met for our runs. And this is where it gets good. . .
Ethan had been acting kinda weird for the first few days at camp. He had been kinda chatty, and he sat next to me at meals a lot. He even called me his favorite freshmen! Which isn't saying much, since there were six of us at camp and two of us were girls. . . But whatever. Point is, he was acting strange. . . Caroline jokingly said it was because he liked me, which made me gag a little bit. . .
Wednesday night I went on to the field with him and Jory and Caroline and a few other people. He had a flashlight that was 18 inches in diameter (exaggeration, but you get the idea) and he kept flashing it to blind people. And it did. . .temporarily. Enough to make them water a little bit. . .
Well, he got into a private discussion with me about what high school is like. He is the same age as me, but he skipped a grade in elementary school. The same one I went to, oddly enough. He started talking about how at the high school, cross country people hang out in one tight bunch by the library. He said it was really close, like a family.
My hormones took over in the span of a millisecond.
Next thing I knew, I had him pinned to the ground, and I said, "You mean this close?"
And then he said, "Wow, this is awkward."
Ballsy, yes. Intellegent, no. Yessirree bob, I had hugged/tackled the guy to the ground.
Well, the rest of camp was relatively uninteresting after that incident. We ran the race/time trial (Jackson threw up before it) and I think I did pretty good. We had to eat right after, but I skipped out on breakfast. I wasn't very hungry. My cabin was supposed to clean up after breakfast, but I wasn't there, so I helped the other girl's cabin clean up all the chalk on the sidewalk and the cabin. (Note: Chalk and wood is not a good combination!)
We had to clean our cabins out, and Rob freaked out 45 minutes before we had to leave. "You guys have a lot of work to do!" We finished with time to spare, despite a very sucky (and by sucky, I mean not sucky enough) vaccum cleaner. So we went outside and waited an hour for the bus to arrive. Blegh. I sat around with Jory and Caroline and David and Ethan *cough* and we hung out like good old buddies. Then the bus came and we all went home.
Then I went to Ver's party, and Pam and Somin attacked me over the Ethan Incident. Pam IMed him to find out if we were going out, and Ethan said something along the lines of "yeah, we're cool like that." Veronica's party was a blast.
Anyway, no signs from Ethan about what he's feeling. He's being confusing, which is either bad or good. Mutual friends agree that he needs a girlfriend and I need a life. A match made in heaven.
I hope he doesn't have a Quizilla! account. Ah well, I don't really mind if he finds out. . .
