Happy Anniversary Trinity!!
(Actually it was Sunday but I was too caught up in a party I went to and labor day to notice. so we're celebrating it today.) Yes, on 8-31-07, only one year ago, I posted the first chapter of {An Everlasting War}(The Destiny of a Werewolf and a Vampire)-Try and Confuse Me! Happy anniversary Trin!! So I know a lot of you don’t read my journal and eh I don’t blame you, I find other people's journals boring too unless they appeal to me with a specific interest. So I’m hoping this will peek your guy's interest (Why does that sound dirty to me?)
So I’ve gotten a few questions asking how I exactly came up with the story in the first place. So I decided to enlighten a few of you.=)
Okay, (and this is gonna sound soooo Stephanie Meyer but...) I had this weird dream....I had the dream on August 29 2007, I know because I have the original outline that I scribbled out at like 3 in the morning and it says the date at the top in chicken scratch. So anyways, the dream actually was kinda the last chapter. I saw a boy who had happened to be a vampire and he was dieing in a clearing. Then I saw a girl who happened to be a werewolf come and she told him to drink her blood because she knew it would save him. Actually why don’t I just post some of the original conversation, I have the outline in front of me.
Blood was everywhere. I wasn’t sure how far the stake had pierced him but I could tell that he was dieing. I gulped hard. I thought being with a vampire meant that I would never have to worry about him dieing. Boy was I wrong. His green eyes looked up at me. (Yes originally this story was about Trinity and Brandon but ill post a little about that after this exert.) I was taken aback. His eyes were full of sorrow just as I anticipated, except it wasn’t sorrow for the fact that he was dieing. I could tell that he was actually sad that he was dieing because of ME. He didn’t want to leave this earth knowing that it would hurt me deeply. Hot tears rolled down my cheeks. "I love you." I whispered. He didn’t have to answer me, I already knew his answer. That’s when rage hit me, hard. How could the world take him. He was so SELF-LESS! Granted we had a rough start and his fury had gotten the best of him at times but he was a new man, my man. That’s when the idea hit me like a ton of bricks. OF COARSE! my blood! So I propped his head up to my neck and motioned him to drink. He hesitated for a moment but he knew this was what I wanted and therefore he wanted.“I love you.” I whispered once more. Then his teeth sunk into my neck.
As you can see my lovelies, I always intended Trinity to become part vampire part werewolf. It was hard to keep that secret in for such a long time, I almost blew the secret a few times.=D. Though I know most of you are wondering that if this was the dream then why weren’t these exact words in the last chapter. Well the story had changed so much that by the time I had gotten to this part, the exert did not fit at ALL. Plus so much was going on that this part had actually gotten down played and rushed.
Now to explain the Brandon thing. Yes I had intended from the beginning to have Trinity end up with Brandon. I had wrote out so many epilogues that had them marry or experiment with having kids and outlines that always included them together. Even when I posted the first, I think it was 8 chapters, I still had that future for them. Then I created Keleb, (which was originally Caleb *The correct spelling* Then I changed it to Kaleb so that he was a bit more unique, but his character was SO unique that I thought that it deserved a different spelling after a few chapters.) and I just fell in love with him. He was bad ass on the outside but I always knew that he was a softy on the inside.=) That’s when I started experimenting with endings where he ended up with Trinity. I always thought that all those authors who say that the characters literally write themselves were crazy. Though that’s what Keleb did, he gave me sparks of ideas and the story really did start to write itself. Then it became a contest between him and Brandon. Their were chapters where I favored Brandon more and ones that I favored Keleb. Then I finally made my decision. Chapter 28 is the chapter I finally decided that Trinity would pick Keleb.=)
