Story Starter
Have you ever wondered if there was a new world? Have you ever asked yourself, “What’s waiting for me?” or “What happens after we die?” Those were the questions that floated through Carolyn’s head. Of course that was a foreshadow of events to come…let me tell the story of Carolyn and what happened to her when she was torn apart from family, friends, and her heart lost a bet with darkness.It was a dark evening clouds filled the sky, Carolyn lay on her bed as her friend, Sam played a video game. Carolyn had long dark brown – almost black hair and even darker eyes. Wearing A light blue shirt and black pants, her black flip flops on the ground she yawned bored to death. She was taller than most her age, though she didn’t mind. Her grades were excellent, and she never tolerated anything lower than an A-, speaking a higher level than most of her classmen she was often picked on for not “living a little” or being “stuck up”. She didn’t mind that either, in her opinion people only bully on others to make themselves feel superior…which was ignorant.
Sam on the other hand was a lot brighter and more optimistic about life. She had a subconscious On/Off switch that she could sometimes not control. She had mid length bright golden blonde hair and deep blue eyes that you could get lost in forever. Sam wore a blue tank top and white pants… her white sandals underneath the bed. Sam was easy to please, of course she got B’s as a GATE student but that’s good anyway.
“Hey Care, what was the cheat code for the gummi ship again?” Sam asked. Care was the nickname for Carolyn that Sam had picked out, Sam being the nickname that Carolyn picked out to be short for Samantha.
“Put it on auto pilot to get you through.” She paused, “That’s how you do it.” Carolyn finished.
Sam did as instructed and got through the hard part of the video game while she waited she looked over at Carolyn.
“So Carrie, who’s your favorite character?” she asked a sly smile on her face.
Carolyn thought a little while, “On what?”
“Kingdom Hearts, duh.” Sam replied. “Mine’s Sora, he’s cool!” Carolyn sighed,
“Of course…I guess my favorite is Riku, and you just died.” Carolyn’s voice was dull, just as the day was. Sam turned to the game,
“OH NO!! I DIDN’T SAVE! Son of a gun…I was far too.” Sam pouted she had been working hard all day on the game.
“Do you want me to help you?” Carolyn offered, staring up at the ceiling.
“No, you’ve helped me on to many games I’m beating this one by myself!” Sam turned off the game and television, “I’ll do it later…my eyes are starting to hurt.” Sam looked at the clock, 4:00am already Sunday, though it still felt like Saturday.
“I’m beat…Carrie you want to go to bed? ‘Cause I am.” She said yawning.
“Nah…I’ll see you in the morning…afternoon…whenever you wake up.” Carolyn replied. Sam nodded and exited the room, turning off the light on her way out. Sam had the guest room, while Carolyn stayed in her own. Carolyn climbed underneath the covers and shut her eyes, thinking, listening to the deafening silence that could make anyone crazy if the listened to it long enough.
