East Coast Trip!
I feel kinda crazy. I'm reading A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare. The first thing I realized is that he spells his name really funny. We can't read an easy translated version, we have to read the real thing. My friend Liyan borrowed the book with translations on every other page from the library ahead of time, which I think is cheating. She knows the whole story, nobody else in my class read it yet, and I'm only on Act 1, Scene 1. I bet everyone else read scene 2 by now.On the bright side, I've been getting pretty good grades in my classes. As far as I know, I have a 4.0 average. I just need a 3.6667 or higher for the first grading period to get 50 bucks from my uncle! And the first grading period isin two weeks, then the trimester grades, I think, then the semester! It's gonna go by just great.
And I only have to work half as hard for the East Coast Trip! It costs, like, 2,000 dollars to go. My dad offered to me that if I could make up half the money, he would pay for the entire thing and that half of the money would be for me to spend on the trip! A thousand dollar spending spree sounds great! But having to make the money is the problem.
To be able to go, I have to keep up my grades of course, and maybe I can talk too someone about getting a job. Don't you only have to be fourteen to get a job? So I figure the minimum wage in California is $8 per hour I think, but I don't know the hours I would have to work. Plus the whole "working permit" thing, and I have a history of not doing my work. But assuming I work about 6 hours per week minimum, that's $48 per week, but I'm not sure if that's enough. And I don't know how many places are willing to hire a minor. I would have to hope for the best. I feel bad for my friends, they have to work harder than me, and I still have to work pretty hard. I wonder if some of my relatives would buy things from me to help me go on the trip.
Sorry, kinda worked up on this whole thing. I'm really worried about it. Give me some tips if you can. The only money I'm spending now is pocket change. Nothing else will be spent until I have a thousand dollars.
When I break that I'll tell you.
