Specific pains may also be present, such as a stiff neck, back pain, abdominal discomfort, or surgical site sensitivity. These physical reactions tend to show up in early grief and then gradually begin to disappear. These devices allow chiropractic treatment to be done comfortably, while the patient sits in an upright position without any sudden movements and without "cracking" or "popping" noises. Would you believe that newborns as well as the elderly with osteoporosis can be treated safely and gently? Patients who have to sit for prolonged periods of time can sometimes develop back pain due to muscle fatigue and muscle de-conditioning. It is for this reason that it is recommended that occasional breaks from sitting is good to not only relax the muscles but also to stretch them.

Occasionally, low back or neck pain results from another disorder, such as a stomach ulcer, pneumonia, premenstrual syndrome, or infection of the prostate gland. Some disorders cause only low back or neck pain.

Muscle Strength
Improved muscle strength and flexibility are the keys to a healthy back. Using a consciousness-based program designed to enhance mind body integration, many of our patients with chronic pain experience increased flexibility and comfort. When we don’t, our muscles get weaker and our joints get stiffer. Adults should aim for at least 60 minutes of activity per day and children should get at least 90 minutes per day. These muscles do not spontaneously recover even if patients are pain free with a return to normal activity levels. These specific muscles work together to support and stabilize the spine to help prevent LBP.

Repeat the extension movement at least 10-20 times or until the muscles in the back of your neck are fatigued. In fact, staying in bed more than 1 or 2 days can actually make your pain worse and lead to other problems such as stiff joints and muscle weakness. Strain in the back muscles is the most common source of low back pain, he says, and those muscles are barely affected by the force of feet hitting the ground.
