Although Polar Bears range in the Arctic Circle areas Churchill Manitoba Canada is best known as the "Polar Bear Capital". This town in northern Manitoba is right smak dab in the middle of a Polar Bear migration route - add to that the enticing odors of fresh garbage and a town garbage dump to a hungry or inquisitve Polar Bear - especially a young male looking to test his mettle.

Polar bears are migratory creatures - it all depends on the ice conditions during the seasons of the year. As soon as the waters if Hudson Bay freeze , the male Polar Bears along with the non-pregnant female bears, whoi having returned fresh from their summer ranges , move onto the arctic ice floes and stay there for the entire winter seasons. Pregnant females have already hibernated in October and generally will give birth to two or three young bear cubs by the spring March season.

In terms of locating , viewing and photpgraphing these Polar Bears of Churchill Manitoba the wates around the Gordon Point and Cape Chruchill are normally the first areas in the region to freeze thoroughly. The best held and easiest - and safest way to view the bears first hand is with the local , world famous - specially modified for the Canadian Tundra regions of Churchill are the world famous"Tundra Buggies". Its all a safe and best way to get those real great Polar Bear shots up close.
