You're hot then you're cold

You're yes then you're no

John O'Callaghan was a boy who could never seem to make up his mind. At least that's what Rachel Caldwell saw on a day to day basis. Her boyfriend was a stubborn, confused, loud boy who didn't commit to anything. Was it a shame? Yes. Did she get used to it? Unfortunately, yes. Every day was different with him. One day he would be so in love with Rachel. He'd shower her with gifts and hold her close. He would love her.

And then there were the days when nothing seemed to be going right for him. The days when he wouldn't call Rachel or visit her. Or if she stopped by, they would get in a fight. This would result in Rachel leaving in tears, while John was inside being pissed off.

They were a couple full of ups and downs. Her friends tried to tell her that he was no good for her, that she deserved someone better then some guy in some stupid band. And she did, but John was who she wanted. When she was around him, she felt like they were the only two on this earth. Even when they fought, Rachel loved him. She was head over heels in love with John Ohhh, whether he knew it or not.

You're in then you're out

You're up then you're down

Currently, Rachel was seated on her living room couch dialing her boyfriend's number for the billionth time. She hadn't heard from him in almost three days and was beginning to worry. What if he had found another girl that he could love? What if this was his way of breaking up with her?

She fumed at that thought. He wouldn't do that to her, would he? No. He had enough decency to at least text her to say it was over. Or at least, that's what she hoped.

"'Sup?" The voice of John spoke through the phone.

Rachel was taken aback. She had expected to get his answering machine. But here he was, talking to her as if she was one of the boys. She could hear the sounds of people talking with laughter. He was at a party.

"Hey, it's me." Rachel said quietly and twirled her blonde hair around her finger.

John cleared his throat, "Oh hey babe," She could hear him moving through people and finally there was no conversation around him and a door closed, "Sorry I haven't called. What's up?"

She scoffed inwardly. How could he be acting so casual? He hadn't spoken to his girlfriend in three days and he's not even on tour. His house way two blocks away!

You're wrong when it's right

It's black and it's white

"Uh, nothing. Just wondering why the hell I haven't seen or heard from my boyfriend in almost three days. You know, the usual." Rachel said with heavy sarcasm and a roll of her eyes.

John cleared his throat and added sarcastically, "And how's that going for you?"

"You're unbelievable John! Seriously. I can't deal with this anymore!" Rachel exclaimed as she stood up angrily. She knew he couldn't see her, but she wanted to get her point across.

"What do you mean?" He asked with a panicked voice.

Rachel smirked at his panic. Maybe he'd finally realize how it feels to have your heart broken. How it feels to have someone not care about your feelings. How it feels to be left.

"We're over, through, finito. I can't deal with your bullshit anymore. You're never here and when you are, you act like a complete dickhole. Then the next day, you act as if you're so in love with me. It's not fair John!" She yelled into the phone.

"B-but, Rach, you can't, I-I love you!" He was stuttering, signaling he was scared.

Rachel sighed as the tears began to spill down her face, "I'm sorry John, but you're too late."

And with that Rachel hung up.

Leaving John to pick up the pieces of the mess he made.

We fight

We break up

Rachel was curled up on her bed in a now tear stained shirt. The blankets pulled up to her chin, with Tristan&Isolde playing on the screen. Bags of chips, candy and chocolate were surrounding her. Her best friends, Ava and Kirsten had just left to pick up some pizza and she was left here alone to wallow in self pity. Did she sound a bit emo? Maybe. Was it completely necessary? Yes.

Her doorbell went off and she sighed. Shoving the blankets back, she revealed her plain white v-neck tee and her green booty shorts. Both had been gifts from John, but she was trying to forget that little detail.

As she trudged downstairs, the ringing of the doorbell became frantic. Scrunching her eyebrows with confusion, she ran down the rest of the way to the door. She opened the door revealing a soaking wet boy. It was John.

Rachel's heart fluttered as she stared at the boy standing in front of her, "What are you doing here?"

He shuffled his feet as the rain continued to pour on him, "I'm here to say that I suck. I suck at being a boyfriend. I suck at loving you. I suck at showing my true feelings. I suck because I have to leave on tour too much. I suck because I treat you like garbage, when you shouldn't be. I suck because I lost you and I'm delivering this stupid speech in hopes that you'll take me back. I love you with everything I have Rach. I would give up the world just to be with you. Please, please let me back into your heart."

Rachel's eyes welled up with tears. She took a graceful step towards him. She felt the rain begin to soak her own clothes, but she didn't mind. She pressed her lips to his. He pulled her tight to him. And as they stood there, kissing in the rain. They knew it was perfect. That they were meant to be.

Rachel pulled back from the kiss and he pressed her forehead to hers.

In reply to his speech she whispered, "You never left in the first place."

We kiss

We make up
