He makes me feel like I can fly- A McFly love story [Part 1- Getting Ready]
Chapter 12 : He Makes Me Feel Like I Can Fly- A McFly Love Story [Part12- You don't need to say it, I already know]
“Dougie?” You called through the door. There was no response, slowly and cautiously you pushed open the door. Dougie was lead on his bed, face buried in his pillow. “Dougie please.” You walked over to the bed and sat down. Dougie didn’t move, pretending you weren’t there. “Please Dougie, can we just talk?” You asked him placing a hand on his back. He flinched away and your hand was left suspended, in shock. “Oh.” You got to your feet, still shocked at Dougie’s reaction towards you and made your way to the door. “Carrie.” Dougie mumbled softly. You turned back to face him. “I wanna talk.” You smiled lightly and sat back down on the bed. “Dougie, for anything, everything I’ve done to upset you I’m sorry. You know how I feel about you.” “But do I Carrie?” He asked. This question took you off guard a little. You thought Dougie knew. “I..I thought you did. But if you don’t then I’ll tell you now. Dougie, I love you.” Dougie turned to look at you, your eyes met. His all red and full of tears, yours full of sorrow. “But the others…” Dougie trailed off. “Yes, I love them all as well.” You began, Dougie looked away, hurt that you loved the other boys. “But it’s a different love. Like you love a brother or cousin. Dougie I want to be with you, I love you like, like, oh I don’t know like Posh loves Becks.” You laughed at your comparison. You sat in silence for a while. Dougie stared at his hands, constantly fiddling with each other whilst you watched Dougie anxiously, watching, hoping, for some sign that he loved you, that it would all be ok. But there was nothing.
“Tom?” Dougie spoke quietly, still making no eye contact. “It’s in the past. It’s you I want now.” You apprehensively reached out for his hand, this time he made no effort to withdraw from your touch. “Harry? Danny?” “Nothing, only you.” Dougie resumed his silence and you watched him, still holding his hand. A single tear ran down his cheek. It was then followed by several more. You watched them fall from his eyes. You wanted more than anything to wipe the tears from his eyes and make him believe it was him you loved. But something was stopping you. Something Dougie had said. ‘I can take care of myself Carrie, I don’t need a babysitter.’ “C..Carrie?” Dougie stammered. “I can’t take care of myself. And I…I…” His tears became heavier and he was unable to get the words out. “You don’t need to say it. I already now.” You soothed him. He turned to face you, tears now streaming from his eyes.
Slowly you moved towards him and pecked him lightly on the lips. As you pulled away you raised your free hand (the other was still linked with Dougie’s) and wiped the tears from his face. Dougie led down and laid his head in your lap. You stroked his hair and slowly his breathing returned to normal as the tears stopped. “I love you Carrie, I’ve been so stupid, such an idiot. I’m sorry.” “Dougie, it doesn’t matter anymore. We’ve made up. And, as long as you’re my idiot.” You felt him relax and eventually he was asleep. You sat with Dougie, the guy you loved, asleep in your lap. You just watched him, feeling no desire to leave him or even move for fear of waking him. So you sat, for however long it took for Danny to enter the room.
Danny’s POV
“Don’t worry about talking things through Carrie, I can see who you’d rather be with.” Dougie’s voice called. You looked over your shoulder and saw Dougie, tears beginning to form in his eyes. “Dougie!” Carrie called from underneath you. However Dougie merely turned and left the room. “Dougie wait please!” She called again, still underneath you. Carrie started to struggle again but you wouldn’t let her go. “DANNY! LET ME GO NOW!” She practically screamed in your ear. “Carrie, give him a while to cool off, please.” You tried reasoning with her, your ears still ringing. “No Danny, that’s what caused this. Please let me go.” There was no arguing with her when she was in this mood and so you admitted defeat and climbed off her. Immediately she got to her feet and ran out of the room.
You and Tom sat in silence for a while, both nervously expecting a screaming match from upstairs. A few days ago Dougie had yelled at Carrie and was capable of doing it again. Carrie, well, she’d just screamed in your ear so you knew she would yell back. “Well I can’t hear anything. That’s got to be a good sign.” Tom spoke, breaking the silence. “I guess so.” You responded, still straining to hear what was happening. “Well, it’s got to be. If you think about it. Even if they’ve killed each other, well they haven’t, because we would have heard the noise. So they must be fine.” “The one night Harry isn’t here. The one night he goes on a date!” You exclaimed, exasperated. “Selfish git.” Tom laughed. “I guess we’ll just have to wait for something to happen.” You mumbled. “Yeah.” Tom replied. With that the two of you restarted watching the TV.
An hour and a half had passed. Harry was still on his date and there was still no sound from upstairs. “I say you go and investigate.” Said tom. “Yeah.” You agreed. “Wait? Me?! Why me?!” You asked, what Tom had said finally sinking in. “Well I can’t go. I mean, we all know about Carrie’s ex-crush. I don’t think it will help if I go and check they’re both ok.” “I guess. Can’t we just wait for Harry to get home?” Tom raised an eyebrow at you in response. “Yeah I know, what if he doesn’t come home.” Tom looked at you expectantly. You sighed deeply. “Ok, I’m going.” And with that you got to your feet and walked out the room, making a large fuss. Tom just laughed at you.
You made your way to Dougie’s door and gently pushed it open. You poked your head round the door and saw Carrie sat on Dougie’s bed, with Dougie’s lifeless body on her lap. “Carrie? What have you done?” You asked her, fearing she’d knocked Dougie unconscious or worse. “Danny, don’t be so thick. He just fell asleep.” You breathed a deep sigh of relief. “Oh thank God. Anyway, as you’re both still alive, I’ll leave you alone.” You turned to walk out of the door. “Danny wait.” Carrie called softly. You turned back. “Can you help me move Dougie so he’s up the right way and under the covers?” You nodded. Luckily Dougie was a relatively heavy sleeper so you had no trouble moving him whilst keeping him asleep. You watched as Carrie climbed into the bed next to him. “Don’t you be getting up to any mischief in here.” You winked. “Shut up Danny.” You heard her whisper as you shut the door behind you.
You made your way back downstairs to find Tom sat anxiously waiting your return. “Well?” He asked. “They’re fine. They’ve made up and Dougie’s fallen asleep. Carrie’s not about to leave him anytime soon.” “Awwwhhhh.” Tom cooed. “Yeah, it’s cute.” You replied, sitting on the sofa. “Reminds me of us.” Tom laughed, putting his arm round you. You shoved him off and both burst into laughter.
Your POV
Danny had just left your room after helping you move Dougie into bed. You lay under the covers and watched him sleep for a while, contemplating whether to get changed and return, get changed and sleep in your own bed or just stay with Dougie in the clothes you were in now. In the end you decided to stay where you were. After all Dougie was still in his clothes. You shifted closer to Dougie and fell asleep, inhaling his scent.
