.::The Legend of Dragonia::. Chapter 1

"It's about time.... the men of destiny have finally arrived."

A huge green dragon spoke to them. "I presume that you are the Guardians?"

"Yes, sir, we-"

"I prefer 'ma'am' if you don't mind..." the dragon said. Sky stepped forward. "Our sincere appologies, ma'am." she lowered her head politely. "You must be....you must be Dewleaf..."

The dragon chuckled. "It's nice to see today's youth interested in ancient Dragonian mythology. Brings me hope." Dewleaf paused, then said to Sky, "It seems like we have a Wing dynasty member here."

"How do you know my cylun?" Sky asked, confused. "Your eyes, young one," she replied gently. "Not many of them change color like yours."

Sky paused, and stepped backward. "I think you'd like to meet our friend Leaf here." Leaf stepped up, and faced the magestic green dragon. "I- I'm the Earth Guardian. It really is an honor, meeting you, Dewleaf." he held out the gem. "I think this belongs to you-"

"Keep it, I have no use for it. You will need it again soon. Who are your new friends here?"

"Um, let's see," Leaf began. "Blue, Shadow, Mist, and Red..... and Sky, Link, Pit, Twilight, Wolf and Falco." They nodded respectfully. "Yes, a worthy group.." Dewleaf turned around. "Wolf and Falco, I believe you were searching for someone?"

"Yes." Wolf said. "We'll looking for my brother, Fox. He came in here not too long ago and-"

"Say no more, he is right here."

"Hey, Wolf, Falco! Over here!"

Fox ran over to them. "What were you doing this whole time?" Wolf snapped. "I saw the ruby, the legendary ruby!" Fox replied exitedly. "The dragon has it!"

"Yes, I see.." Wolf replied dryly. It was evident that Wolf and Fox were clear opposites. Wolf seemed calm and relaxed, while Fox seemed full of boundless energy. "Who are all of these people?"

Wolf sighed. "Fox...... can we save the introductions for later? We need to get out of here."

"Just a second." Sky interrupted. "Dewleaf, do you have the Dawnflame ruby?"

"No, you have it." Immediately, there was a red glowing from Sky's hand. She opened her palm, and there lay a bright, flame-red ruby. Her eyes shone red to match. Sky closed her eyes. "Thank you, Dewleaf. Is there anything we can possibly do for you?"

"Well, there is one thing. Leaf, I want you to ride me out of the temple. You'll see why."

Leaf, though puzzled, climbed up on top of Dewleaf. Instantly, there was a loud rumbling. The stone walls started to shake, and bits of rubble fell to the ground.

"We need to get out of here, now!!!" Dewleaf yelled. "Everybody, get on!" Sky, Link, Pit, Twilight, Red, Blue, Shadow, Mist, Falco, Wolf, and Fox quickly jumped on Dewleaf's back. With a loud flapping of wings, they glided out of the crumbling building.

"Okay everyone, hold on tight!" Dewleaf soared out of the ruined temple. Below the trees, Pit could see a shady figure. Wonder who that is. She flew behind the trees, and landed without a sound. There were several voices heard, conversing.

"...They should be here, sir. Any moment now..."

GANONDORF???

"Yes, Meta Knight, I am aware of that... those fools may not have survived the destruction of the temple." In your dreams, Ganondork. We'll survive anything you and your minions throw at us.

The swordsman known as Meta Knight turned, and shouted, "There they are, sir! Kill them!"

Pit and Link jumped out of the bushes and fired arrows at Ganondorf. He formed a shield of dark energy and the arrows bounced off. Ganondorf laughed at their ignorance. Meanwhile, Sky had snuck up behind him while he was gloating, and fired a chain into his back. He cried out in pain, and spun around. "Ah, so you're that girl who holds what i desire...." He smirked, and fired an aura at her. She ran out of the way, just in time as Twilight fired an arrow in the back of his heck. Ganondorf turned and faced his two pursuers.

Link's sword clashed with Meta Knight's as the battle raged on. He stopped for a moment to catch his breath. Meta Knight fought well, showing no signs of slowing down or tiring. Link threw a bomb at him, which exploded on contact. Blue helped him out by throwing shards of ice at Meta Knight. Red and Dewleaf used their flames to surround the winged minion.

"Hand her over, Link." Ganondorf spat. "Then no one will get hurt."

"If you can catch me, Ganondork!" Sky shouted. "You and your lowsy minion fighter are going down today!"

"Fighter? You think I only have one, foolish rider? You don't know anything of the army I have built. Soon, we shall take over the world! And all I need is the girl!" he launched a sphere of lightning st Sky. It managed to hit her hard, bringing her to the ground. She swore angrily, and stuggled to her feet. Trembling, she fell down again. Sky kneeled down, breathing rapidly, and coughed out a little bit of blood onto the earth. Ganondorf took this oppurtunity to grab her, but was stopped when a sword was shoved into his back. Link pulled it out again, and watched Ganondorf's body fall to the ground. Sky crawled away painfully. She backed up into Meta Knight. Pit quickly detatched his bow into two swords, and stabbed them into Meta Knight's back. He fell to the ground and vanished, along with Ganondorf.

"Don't think that this is over, imbeciles. Mark my words, I will be back!" with that said, Ganondorf's body faded away into some kind of dark portal.

"Is everyone alright?" Pit asked, worried. Weakly, everyone stood up and gathered together. "Yeah, we're fine." Link replied, irritated. "There are just some questions that need answering." he turned and glared at Sky. "Why was Ganondorf looking for you?"

Sky avoided everyone's stares. "I...I'm not sure..... I don't know why he would want me..."

"He mentioned some power that you have..Is there something that you aren't telling us, Sky?"

"No. There is nothing that I have to hide." she sat down and faced the setting sun. "Nothing at all."

Link paused, as if in doubt. "Okay then. I trust you." Everyone sat down somewhere on the soft forest earth. "So.... Sky... the ruby, may I see it?" She handed it over to Link. Engraved in the middle in cursive script was the word Dawnflame. He examined it for another moment, then gave it back to Sky. "When are we leaving here to go to the mountains?" he asked.

"Tomorrow morning, at the earliest. We all need to rest." she lay down against Dewleaf, and went to sleep. They all found somewhat comfortable resting places against the dragon's body. Pit sat down next to Twilight. "Hey." he whispered. "Hi." she replied sleepily. She leaned against him and closed her eyes. Pit shivered slightly. She was unusually warm, and was slightly pale in the face. He carefully placed his hand on her forehead, and felt that it was hot. Oh, no. She's got a fever. She coughed roughly. "Twilight....." Pit began sadly. "I think you're ill... you've got a temperature."

She nodded weakly. "I can barely breathe..." she coughed again. He held her soothingly in his arms. "I'll see what we can do for you in the morning. For now, how about we get some sleep?" he yawned and held her closer to him. "I hope you feel better in the morning, Twilight."

"Thank you, Pit." she moaned softly and fell asleep in his gentle embrace.
