Kai stared at the agents unbelievably. Both were about his age maybe younger, and they were supposed to be bodyguards!?
“Kai, this is Akimi and Harumi.” Mr. D said, waving to the tall male first then the smaller female.
“Akimi, Harumi. This is Kai Hiwitari. Team Captain of the Bladebreakers and third time world champion.” The boy met Kai’s eyes and nodded his head respectively. Kai didn’t return the nod but his eyes did run up and down the boys’ body. He was tall, about three or four inches taller than Kai himself. He had dark, messy, crimson red hair a little past his ears and dark pink eyes. His body was somewhat lanky looking, but he had an air of ‘Yes, I can kick your ass if provoked’ around him.
The rest of his examination of the boy was interrupted by the girl as she popped up right in front of his face.
“Hi!” Kai glared as the girl grinned and backed away enough for Kai to get a good look at her. She was short, about seven or eight inches shorter than her brother. She had long pale pink hair to her mid-thigh with crimson bangs and the same dark pink eyes as her brother. Her body was tiny, almost pixie-like in its slender frame. Kai was sure that if he went and pushed her to the ground, she’d shatter and brake like glass. Kai turned and glared at Mr. Dickinson.
“You can’t be serious.” Mr. D shook his head. Kai pointed at the girl.
“I can understand the guy, but the girl?! She looks like she’s about to break.”
“Thing’s aren’t always what they seem, Kaaaaai.” The girl, Harumi, said in a sing-song type voice. Kai turned back to her, glaring.
“Kai. Harumi may not seem like much, but she hack her way into anything. She’s a technical genius and she can take care of herself…when she needs to.” Hiro came to stand beside Harumi, his words filling the room.
“Yep! I’m just super amazing!” Harumi grinned. Kai shook his head and regarded Mr. D.
“So, how do I introduce them to the team? ‘Oh, hey guys. Yeah, I was out and decided to pick up a few new members?’” Kai raised an eyebrow, his voice cold and sarcastic. Mr. D and Hiro glanced at each other.
“Well, there’s a problem. We need to make sure one of them stays near you and the Bladebreakers at all times, so Harumi will become your girlfriend and tomorrow, she’ll introduce you and your team to her brother Akimi. He’s a beyblader, so you can ask him to hang around and help with training or something. Besides, I’m sure the team will like Harumi and Akimi fine, so protecting them should be easy enough for them.”
“You’re kidding. I will not degrade myself to have that thing as my girlfriend.” Harumi frowned at Kai’s words.
“Her name is Harumi. And if you don’t like it, we can always ship your stupid ass to Ireland to play with the fucking leprechauns.” Everyone turned to look at Akimi, slightly surprised by the harsh, venomous tone he used. Kai raised an eyebrow and stood.
“I can call her whatever the fuck I want. You’re not going to boss me around.” Akimi’s eyes narrowed and he took a step forward.
“Guys, guys. Calm down. You don’t need to fight over my name.” Harumi faced Akimi,
“Akimi, he can call me whatever. It doesn’t change the facts.” She turned to face Kai,
“You’re stuck with me and Akimi, don’t make this difficult for yourself. Just pretend to like me and we’ll do the rest. Alright boys?” She asked, looking from Kai to Akimi and back again. Both looked away.
“So, now that that’s settled, we can move on.” Mr. D shuffled through some papers on his desk as he spoke. As he dropped the pile on the hard surface, a scrape sheet fluttered into the air. Mr. Dickinson jumped as he remembered something else.
“Oh yes Kai, Harumi and Akimi will be staying at Granger Dojo. I’ve talked it over with Grandpa Granger and he said it was fine” Kai visibly twitched, but stayed silent.
“So, I think that’s it. Now you need to take Harumi out, get to know and be comfortable with each other so you can pass as a couple. Then take her to the dojo and introduce her to everyone. Akimi will begin taking watch tomorrow, when he goes to stay at the dojo.” Kai sighed and made his way to the door, jerking his head at Harumi to come along. He reached the door when he heard Hiro.
“Remember; at like a couple, and keep this a secret.” Kai paused, the only sign he heard, before snatching up Harumi’s wrist and dragging her out. She grinned and waved at the three males she left behind.
