Alex teleported us to my house, the same, familiar white house. Well, mansion. The lights were on, and I noticed that I could faintly hear the television on in the living room. My vampire senses were becoming increased.

Alex let me go, still holding onto my luggage. I noticed something. “Alex!” I hissed. Alex stopped looking at my overly huge house and to my face with his eyes brows raised. “You never talked to your dad!” His eye brows fell.

“I’m sorry. As soon as we get home, ok?” I nodded. “Lacy, how did I know to come here?” I looked into his eyes, confused.

“What?”

“Is this your house?” I nodded. “How did I know to come here?” Alex seemed to be dazed and a little distant.

“Maybe you connected with my mind. I don’t know. Does it matter?” Alex shook his head, finally smiling.

“I’m ready to meet your mom, honey.” I blushed. We laced our fingers together, walking up my stairs. A wave of uncertainty hit me as I remember the last time I came down the stairs. That night I was kidnapped. I shuddered.

We reached the front porch, and I hesitated to ring the doorbell. “You sure?” I asked. Alex nodded. I pushed the button, hearing the familiar chime of our door bell. I heard my mom come to the door, not bothering to look to see who it was.

When I saw her open the door, she had her head down, looking in her wallet.

“Here is a twenty-” She looked up. Her eyes widened, then teared. I felt my eyes start to burn with tears too. “Heather! You’re home!” I smiled as she wrapped me in a hug.

“I missed you, Mom.” I whispered in her ear, even though Alex could hear me perfectly fine.

“You too, honey.” We pulled away, and Mom’s eye settled on someone behind me. Alex. Her slightly up turned mouth spread into a full smile, looking at Alex. She walked over to him, gathering him into a hug. Alex smiled at me from behind her head. I smiled back, mouthing ‘thank you’. They finally pulled back.

“I’m Alex. Nice to me you, Ms. Mattlack.” I flinched when he called her Ms.

“It’s Mrs., honey. My husband is still out there.” Mom was obviously trying to control her voice.

Here comes the grieving. I though to Alex. I noticed him smile at me.

“Sorry, ma’am. Nice to meet you Mrs. Mattlack.” Mom grinned, holding out her hand which Alex shook kindly.

“Well, Heather, he is simply delicious.” I didn’t get embarrased like I used to when I brought my boyfriends home. I smiled in pride. Alex was delicious. I was actually disappointed I hadn’t used that adjective myself. Alex grinned at me, reading my thoughts. “So when is the wedding? I notice you don’t have a ring.” I froze. That was not supposed to come up. Alex thought quicker than I did, and recovered faster too.

“It’s in our suitcases. We didn’t want to loose the ring during our flight here.” He lied smoothly. That was something I needed to work on. My mom nodded in understanding.

“Well, I’m sure you two are tired, so I will let you go to bed. Tomorrow, do what you like, but make sure you are home in time for dinner.” My mom said, happily. I took in what she was wearing. Gray sweatpants and a loose white t shirt that went to her knees. I almost gasped. She never wore anything like that. It was always dresses or night gowns with her.

“Goodnight, mom.” I said, kissing her cheek and walking into my home.

Tears filled my eyes as I looked at the familiar surroundings, missing every bit of it. I quickly skipped stairs to go to my room, which had been completely untouched. It was the biggest room of the house, a king sized bed, a walk in closet and my own bathroom. I walked in slowly, a content smile appearing on my face. I heard the door close behind me.

“So this is were you were hiding all my life.” Alex’s sexy voice said from behind be as he dropped our luggage, wrapping his arms around my waist. My back was facing him, so I turned in his arms.

“Yes. Now what is you excuse?” I said. We both laughed. Then I sighed, truly blissful. “I never knew how much I missed home.” A look of worry crossed Alex’s face. “But not enough to separate me from you.” I added quickly.

“If you ever want me to leave, say the word. Your happiness is more important than my needs.” Alex explained thoughtfully.

“And what are you needs?”

“You of course.” I smiled, pulling myself closer to him, resting my head on his well sculpted chest. “You know,” I felt the vibrations in his chest as he talked, “If we are going to play the part of an engaged couple, maybe I should get a ring. How long do you want to stay?” He asked me. My heart rate sped up. The thought of a ring that Alex would give me on my finger made me blush. “Now, now, love, calm down.” I slowly breathed in through my nose and out through my mouth.

“Two weeks at the most. I promise.” I said, lifting my face. Alex smiled down on me, one of his boyish, sexy crooked grins, and my heart fluttered. I got on my tiptoes, touching my lips to his.

What I would expect to be a simple peck on the lips turned into much more. I mean, with my mom in the house, and Alex acting so much like a gentleman earlier, I would never have thought. We never once separated our lips as he led us over to my bed, falling down on it as one. My fingers were knotted through his hair, his under my shirt. He managed to get my shirt off in one second, and I smiled as his lips enclosed around mine again.

I had his white button down shirt ripped off it seconds, leaving the buttons as tiny threads. Alex didn’t mind. Our bodies were twined together, and once I was sure he was about to take me, I reached down to my jean zipper.

The magic stopped. Alex pushed away from, on his side of the bed, breathing deep. I was too. I scooted closer to him, curling to his side, and he didn’t push me away. I leaned up to kiss him again, to pick up where we started, but Alex grabbed my face in his hands, mainly to keep it away from his.

“No, Lacy.” I couldn’t help it. I pouted.

“Why?” I asked, knowing I sounded truly pathetic. Alex chuckled, but anyone with ears could tell it was forced and strained. My eye brows furrowed as I sat up, hugging my knees to my chest. I noticed I was in my bra. The next question out of his mouth made me even more confused.

“Have you read the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyers?” Alex looked serious. I opened my mouth but no sound came out. I cleared my throat. What had I done wrong, already?

“Yes.” I squeezed out. The Twilight series were my favorite books. And not just because they were about vampires. When I read them, I thought vampires didn’t exist.

“Well, let’s say I’m Edward and you are Bella. I could hurt you the way Edward hurt Bella. I’m a lot stronger than you are.” Alex stated. I stuck up my chin.

“I’m a vampire too. At the time when Edward and Bella… you know…” I was at lost for words, but continued. “Well, she was a human. I’m not. So there is no need to worry about me.”

“Lacy…” Alex sighed, frustrated. At me. That made my lower lip tremble. “I have been a vampire for quite a long time. The longer you are a vampire, the stronger you become, princess or not.” I internally lit on fire. I didn’t want to hear this.

Alex was worried about my health when we were about to… do it. Oh please. He wouldn’t hurt me… Then I got worried.

If he wasn’t going to do it with me now, how long was I going to have to wait till I was ‘strong’ enough. I bit my bottom lip, trying to control the trembling. I said none of this out loud, knowing that Alex was reading my thoughts anyway.

“Lacy, don’t think about it.” Alex said as if he was in pain. I scoffed.

“Alex, how long?” It came out as a whisper. I didn’t have to ask the rest of the question. Alex knew.

“I don’t know…” He trailed off in thought. I was getting upset, on the verge of tears. My eyes felt puffy and they started to burn, indicating that the first tear had fell.

In one second, Alex had me in his arms, cradling me, shushing me. I started to sob. “Lacy, love, what’s the matter?” I almost laughed. Was he really stupid enough to ask that question?

“You are, without a doubt, the love of my life. And you are asking me to wait. For you. Because you are afraid of hurting me…” I croaked out after I managed to stop the overflowing of tears. Alex wiped the dried up tears from my face, kissing my forehead.

“I’m sorry, Lacy, but I couldn’t, and wouldn’t ever hurt you again. Not after… what I’ve already done.” When he used to hit me.

“But that was a long time ago. When you didn’t want to fall in love with me.” I protested. I had to win this fight. I needed to win this fight. I needed Alex.

“Yes, honey, but I can’t just risk your life over our own pleasure.” Alex said soothingly. I growled. It came unintentional. Alex stroked my forehead with his smooth fingers, caressing my face.

“Alex… please. You must trust me. I will be fine.” I kissed him, passionately. But it didn’t go anywhere. Alex wouldn’t let it. I groaned, pulling away from him, getting off my bed.

“I love you, Lacy.” I stared at him, cold and hard. I refused to tell him I loved him too until he compromised. I crossed my arms, glaring at him, now. “Awww, don’t do this, love.” He had been calling me love a lot lately.

“When people love each other, they trust each other. You don’t trust me.” I said, tossing my hair and going into my bathroom. I took a shower in my shower. I couldn’t even enjoy the happiness of being home. Alex ruined it. Of course, it wasn’t his fault. I was making him ruin it.

I wrapped a towel around my body, heading for my closet, not once looking at Alex who was waiting patiently on my bed, his hands crossed over his stomach. I put on green Soffe shorts and a gray shirt, walking back into my room.

Alex had taken a shower too, I noticed, from his wet hair. He showered quicker than I could dress. He was wearing no shirt and some loose shorts. I rolled my eyes, crossing the room and silently sitting on my bed, as far away from Alex as possible.

“Oh come on, you can’t ignore me forever.” Alex pleaded. I held back a smile.

“That is true.” I said, not continuing on the subject. Alex groaned this time.

“Can we go back to normal for now? We can talk about this all you want, compromise, whatever. But after we get back and talk to my dad. Ok? Deal?” Alex asked, practically begging now. I put a finger to my chin, pretending to contemplate on it.

“Yeah. I guess I can wait to talk.” I smiled at him, rolling over so I was at his side. “I love you too, Alex.” Alex let out a breath of relief, as if he had been waiting to breath until he heard those words. But then he smiled. “Do you want to go to bed?” I whispered, so used to sleeping with him. Yes, since the night Valison kidnapped me, I had slept happily under Alex. Except for those awful two weeks where we didn’t talk. I barely slept. It was just when I was in Nick’s arms and happened to doze off.

“Yeah, I guess.” And Alex was gone and back again in less than a second. The lights turned off.

“Show off…” I muttered under my breath. Alex chuckled anyway, rolling on top of me. I was used to this position. “Love you.”

“Love you too.”

>>>>>FF>>>>> Morning

Something was different when I woke up. I heard birds. I know right, what’s the big deal? It’s birds.

Well, I lived in the city. And the way these birds were chirping was really off. It was more a warning.

After about 5 minutes of listening to them, I shrugged it off. It was probably just my imagination running with me again. I opened my eyes, finding Alex’s bare chest pressed tightly to mine. It looked like he was asleep, but his sleeping head on my shoulder was somehow alert, reading to attack if there was any sign of danger.

I smiled, poking his forehead. “Alex… baby… wake up.” I said soothingly. Alex’s hand stroked my face, although his eyes were still shut. I rolled my eyes playfully, placing my hand over his. “Get up…”

“Fine…” He said, opening his eyes. The brown in them was so light, it looked gold. It was smoldering.

“Thank you.” I kissed Alex lightly on the lips, memories from last night flooding into my thoughts. I frowned, a noticeable crease appearing on my forehead. Alex smoothed it out.

“It’s ok. We will talk about it. I promise, Lacy.” I felt better immediately. I sighed, throwing my covers off us. I blinked hard, trying to get the sleep out of my eyes. After rubbing them for a moment, they felt fine, so I sat up. My room was such a relief to me, I couldn’t even fathom I was actually here. With the person I couldn’t live without. “How?” Alex asked. I looked over at him. His flawless face glowed from the good night’s rest. I smiled.

“How what?” I rolled over, resting my head on his chest.

“How do you look so totally gorgeous after you’ve just woke up?” I laughed, sitting back up. I slowly got off of the bed, going to my closet. I changed into a blue jean mini skirt, and a floral pink camisole. I slipped on my Jimmy Choo black boots, that came up to my knees, walking back out to my bedroom. Alex was sitting on my bed, dressed, and probably already showered. I chuckled, walking over to him, sitting on his lap.

“Anywhere you want to go in particular today?” I whispered in his ear.

“Wherever you go, I’ll be there.” Alex said. I smiled, kissing his cheek and getting up. He was wearing blue jean shorts and a brown t shirt. “Except, I have to get you a ring.” Alex said, grabbing my hand and pulling me back down onto his lap. I blushed. “Awww, are you blushing?” I nodded, staring up at his beautiful face.

“You really don’t have to get me a ring. We can work our way around it and-” Alex put his lips to mine. They lingered there for a moment, before he leaned away with a smile.

“Glad that shut you up. You are getting a ring, and it’s final.” I laughed, getting off Alex’s lap and walking to my desk. On it was my purse. Finally, my purse. Being a girl, not seeing a purse for a while is pretty depressing. I grabbed it, hoping it had my cell phone, my iPod, my spare make up, and my car keys in it. I was sick of using my iPod shuffle that I put in my clutch bag that one evening…

I shivered, although there was no draft in the air. Alex had his arms wrapped around me, sensing my unease.

“I’m sorry Daniel did this to you.” He whispered in my hair. I went rigid.

“Daniel?” I whispered. That guy… the one who said… that one night… He… “Who is he?” I wanted answers.

“Um…” Alex knew he said the wrong thing, started a conversation we were not supposed to have. I hit him playfully in the chest, looking up into his eyes.

“Tell me.” I whispered through gritted teeth.

“Daniel is your father, Lacy.” My throat suddenly got dry and stuffy. The room got dizzy, and if it weren’t for Alex, I would have fallen over. Tears threaten to fall, so I quickly swiped them away.

“My father? But he… why would he kidnap me?” I didn’t understand.

“Look at the obvious. You were going to turn into a vampire, and do you really think you would have coped well, not knowing what you were on planet Earth. And you would not go willingly to Vampire Country, so he had to take drastic measures.” Alex stroked my face.

“He left me and mom. He left her heart broken! That son of a bitch! I want to see him when we get home.” I said in a final tone. Alex chuckled “What the hell could be so funny?”

“Ok, you’re right. Nothing should be funny. Its just, we can add that to our list of things to do when we get home. 1. Talk to my dad, 2. Talk about… you know, and 3. See Daniel.” I nodded.

“Yes…” I said simply… feeling better already. I could breath evenly again, not to mention easily.

“There now, it will be ok, love.” Alex cooed. I smiled up at him.

“I haven’t told you I love you this morning have I?” I continued to grin. Alex shook his head, a grin plastered to his face. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” We sat there in each other’s arms for a moment, before Alex pulled back. “Now lets go get you a ring.” I put my head down, hiding my blush. I grabbed my purse in one hand, Alex’s hand in the other.

We walked down the stairs into the foyer. The hard wood floors looked waxed, and the goldish tint to the walls looked welcoming. I drug Alex around our house until I got to the garage door. We walked through, turning on the light. There were my babies.

My red Ferrari glistened under the garage light, making me want to stroke the shell. I refrained. My yellow Lamborghini looked so awesome, I didn’t know whether to drive it or my Ferrari. And finally, my silver Porsche Carrera GT. My mom’s silver Volvo was parked beside my Porsche, looking very dull.

I couldn’t help but hear Alex’s intake of breath. Being a prince, I thought he would be used to cars like this. I crossed my arms, a smug smile on my face. “Go on, you can touch them. They won’t bite you.” I said softly. Alex slowly crossed the garage to my Ferrari. He ran his fingers over the exterior, an unbelievable expression on his face.

“This is way cooler than a limo.” I smiled at his liking to my car.

“We take the Ferrari then.” I walked across the garage to the drivers side of my car. I opened the door, sitting in. It still smelled of new car. Alex got in too. “Come on, snap out of it. It’s just a car. You should have one, being a King and all.”

“I’m not a king…” Awkward silence for a couple of seconds… “And all we have is limos. Dad never let me get one of these. Or one of those.” He gestured to my Porsche and Lamborghini. I laughed.

“Well maybe it’s time you have a word with him about modes of transportation.” Alex laughed.

“Maybe it is.” I didn’t start the car, for I didn’t know where we were going. “Go to the jewelry store.” I fished for my keys, putting them into the ignition.

“So… “ I tried to strike conversation.

“Your mom seems really nice. Kind of crazy. But very nice.” Alex laughed.

“She’s only crazy because she hasn’t loved or been loved in almost 18 years.” Something triggered in my head. What season was it here? What was the date? Was I eighteen? Did I miss my birthday?

“Later. When we get home.” Alex said, disregarding my thoughts. “We will talk to Daniel.”

“Does my mom know about vampires?” I whispered in fear my voice would shake.

“No.” And all conversation stopped until we got to the store. I took the keys out of ignition, putting them into my purse, and got out of my car in a rush. Alex used his vampire speed to be right there.

“Please. I hate to see you upset. Have a good time while you are home. Don’t think about vampire problems. Forget we are vampires for two weeks. Then, when we get back home, we can face our problems together.” My heart warmed up at his words.

“Ok.” I said, kissing Alex multiple times on different parts of his face. “Will do captain.” I saluted him. Alex laughed, warm and rich. He grabbed my hand, leading me to the jewelry store.

It looked the same that I remembered. When me and my best friend, Ashley used to come here once an month and practically buy out the store. Yes, she was rich like me. But that only made things better because I knew she didn’t love me for my money.

Ashley Ignite. My best friend in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a fiery red head who knew who she was. There was no changing the character of Ashley Marie Ignite. I wanted to see her. My Ashley. I felt bad for leaving her.

The jewelry store had diamonds, gold, rubies… every girl’s dream. Alex immediately took lead and led us over to the rings in the display box. My eyes bugged as I looked at all of them and their beauty.

“Which one do you want, love?” Alex asked, also looking at the rings. I squeezed his hand, noticing one of the clerks watching us intently from a distance. I recognized her.

“You choose.” I kissed his cheek. “Excuse me for a moment.” I said, walking over to the clerk. “Mindy?” I asked timidly. She immediately smiled.

“Lacy! You’re home! We were all so worried! You look different, girl. Look at your curves!” She said as she walked out from behind the counter to envelop me in a hug. Mindy Clearwater was another one of my good friends from school.

“You look different too!” I said, leaning back to observe her. Her normally auburn hair had blonde streaks in it. She looked skinny and more muscular. “Hey, do you know the date?” I asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

“Um… it’s the 6th of July.” I smiled. My birthday was in 20 days. I wasn’t 18 yet. Relief washed over me. “It’s Saturday.”

“Why are you working here, Mindy?” I asked.

“Oh, it’s a summer job. Working up for college. I’m wanting to go to Julliard, you know, but I doubt I can get enough money. I have to pay half of my tuition!” Mindy went on mindlessly, bringing me back to the old days. “Now who is that man hunk?” Her voice lowered and she jerked her head toward Alex, who was still looking at rings. I smiled in pride.

“That’s Alex.” He looked up at the sound of his name, and something in Mindy’s mind seemed to click.

“Are you engaged!?” I nodded, then covering my ears from her scream. “What happened? Why didn’t you go to the prom? When did you meet him? Oh my gosh, you have to tell me everything!” I went rigid. I never thought out a reason. I couldn’t tell everyone who asked that I was kidnapped.

“I had a sudden urge to get out of here, you know. So I took off. I got a taxi, some money, and I went to… Washington.” Mindy’s eyes widened.

“He is way too sexy to be from Washington.” I shrugged. We talked about Alex for a while, and all his wonderful features, until Alex came over to me. He came up behind me and kissed me on the cheek.

“Got it. We can go now.” Alex’s voice had Mindy’s voice caught. After all, it was unbelievably smooth and sexy.

“Awww, that’s so sweet.” Mindy said. Alex grabbed my and led me away.

“See you soon, Mindy! I’m in town for two weeks!” I yelled after her as Alex led me out the door. I went to the drivers seat but Alex beat me to it. “That’s not fair.” I said, propping my hands on my hips.

“It’s plenty fair.” Alex said, leading me over to the passenger seat. I got in, watching him get into the drivers seat.

“How?”

“Because, I’m going to propose to you. It’s got to be somewhere special.”

My heart stopped and I smiled.
