Chapter 13 : Legend of Zelda: Masks of Sadness and Joy (11)
"Is something the matter?" asked Crystal. It had been two whole weeks since she met Rayne, and Dark Link hadn't been himself. Was something wrong with him?
"No," he replied.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes," he answered.
"Are you really sure? You seem to have something on your mind since I came back with Rayne."
"It's nothing," he lied. Something was bothering him. To be specific, it was the feelings he had when Crystal vanished.
"If you say so," responded Crystal. She would get him to tell the truth soon enough, however...
"Master wants you," interrupted a monster to Dark Link.
"What is it?" muttered Dark Link as he stormed off to Ganondorf's room.
"What's the matter?" questioned Rayne as Crystal entered their chamber.
Crystal didn't answer.
"Does it have something to do with me?" inquired Rayne.
Still no reply.
"I get it! Dark Link asked you out on a date! I always knew you two would end up going out sooner of later."
Crystal's face turned a remarkable shade of red and shouted, "We are not dating!"
"You seem to worry about him a lot for just a friend. Besides, you do know how much you're blushing, right?"
"Why would I care about someone who tried to kill me!?"
"Because you forgave him."
Silence.
"Do you think he missed me when I left?" spoke Crystal, breaking the silence.
"I don't know. Maybe you should ask him," answered Rayne.
"Knock knock." Someone was at the door.
"Come in," responded Crystal. It was Dark Link.
"Ganondorf has requested a favor."
"What is it?"
"He wants you to visit Death Mountain. According to him, there's something of great interest to you there."
"Really?"
Dark Link shrugged, then uttered, "If you don't want to go, you don't have to."
"Actually, I need the fresh air. I'll go."
BOOM! Another shower of boulders erupted from the still-active Death Mountain. Dark Link had given Crystal a map and pointed her in the correct direction before Crystal set off. It had taken her a few days to venture through the hot desert, and another day to past Hyrule Field. Crystal had to go around Karkario Village. Appearently, the village was rebuilt in Crystal's absence. Crystal noticed on her travels that there were more monsters were scattered thoughout Hyrule than before. "I wonder why?" thought Crystal, but she didn't have much time to ponder - another boulder had set its path and it didn't care if Crystal was in it!
"I am going the right way, right?" thought Crystal when she reached a small cave in the mountain. "Good." It was getting late and Crystal knew it would be harder to navigate at night. So she laid down and tried to rest. She would complete her journey tomorrow.
After what felt like hours, Crystal fell into a dreamless sleep.
