My heart pounded in my ears. I thought everyone could hear it I stood before a semi-circle of old men and one woman. They eyed me. I had told them everything, holding back my own tears. There was no way I'd show weakness in front of the council.
"Meikyuu, you say that only one of them killed our ninja, right?" The old woman seemed calm enough. I nodded and she screeched, "Then how are you alive! You made an alliance with them, didn't you!"
"No, ma'am! I only survived because I created Shikyo! It's my painting! A dragon and it kept the Akatsuki busy while I ccame back. I know I'm a coward but if no one told the village who knows what-"
"SILENCE!" One of the old men stood from his chair. His purple eyes glared at me. "Yabun, she might be telling the truth. I agree, she might have made an aliance but she wouldn't look half dead right now."
"Are you saying you believe her?! This girl! Over me! You've been in the sun too long, Sachi. It's gotten to you." The other members shook their heads in agreement. I took a deep breath. What was going to happen to me? "I say we should throw her out!"
"That's harsh. If she speaks the truth then we would have lost a great ninja."
"She's lazy. haven't you seen what she does. I know for a fact, she does mostly C and D rank missions."
"I've seen her file. But of all of them, the few A and B rank missions we complete successes. Even more, she did them on her own." The old man, Sachi, was on my side. I could tell he trusted me even though I had never seen him in my life. "How about house arrest until we can solve this? Nothing too drastic but enough so that we can always know where she is. If we cast her out as you want, what would stop her from going to them and coming back to destroy us?"
"So you're suggesting she is a traitor?"
"No. I'm suggesting being more kind to her. Kin-san was the one who took care of her. He was one of them to die. There's no way she would kill someone so close."
"Uless she was a traitor. Getting close to them before killing them."
"I would never kill them! How can you say such a thing! I would cry if I wasn't trying so hard not to!" I had spoken out of place. The old woman rose to her feet.
"Fine. Sachi's punishment of house arrest will go until we fine a proper punishment. And if he's correct and you are not guilty, you are free to do as you wish." She coughed and a ninja, two heads taller than me, came and took my arm.
He led me to my own home and kept outside the door. They were going to watch me at all times. But I couldn't stop them. And I didn't blame them for wanting to be careful. I knew it was coming, anyways.
Fumbling around in my pack, I found something small and hard. I hadn't had anything in my pack like that when I left. Pulling it out, I saw it was a ring. Blue-green with a kanji.

"Where did you come from?" I hadn't seen a ring like it before. Not in my life.
I set it on a table and unpacked the rest of my things. Every few seconds I glanced at the ring. Finally I decided to put it on my finger. It fit on my thumb and considering I was small, it still was a bit loose. taking it off, I found a chain instead and put it on that.
After I finished unpacking, I went to my bedroom and laid down. Still in my scorched and torn clothes, I fell alseep until early morning. Something was tapping on my window.
Looking out it, I could see the shape of a bird. Stupid thing. It continued to tap against the glass until I got up and opened my window. It flew in, dropping a scroll right into my hands before landing on the top of my dreser. Quietly I opened the scroll and was met with fine writing.
I don't care who you are, you stole my ring! I want it back. Give it to the bird or I'll come and make you give it back. I'm not waiting any longer than sundown.
-Deidara
He was telling me to give back his ring! I didn't even steal it. I found it with my stuff. Taking a glance at the bid, I could see it was made of clay. It really was him, wasn't it?
"Not getting it back until I'm out of here."
I took out a scroll and painted a picture of my own small bird. A real one this time.

I rolled the paper up after finishing with a small note and did my handsigns. When it opened, the bird would attack the opener. A little surprise for Deidara. Thinking over my words, I nodded as I thought how well I had done.
You've no right to tell me what to do. And if you come anywhere near me, you'll be dead in seconds. Besides, I don't know what you're talking about, a ring.
-Meikyuu
This ring was staying with me. Quietly, even though no one would even see, I gave my scroll to the bird who escaped out the window. Then I started to search my room for a place to hide the ring. It had to be a good place. Somewhere he wouldn't find it if he did come and actually get near me. That's hwo i was going to hide it. In almost plain sight. Right in the bowl I kept my extra change. Things in plain sight are almost always the hardest things to find.
For a few hours I was as happy as a clam. But then someone knocked on my door. Who the hell was it?! I went and opened the door a crack. It was someone with gray hair and teal-blue eyes. He smiled at me but I had none to return.
"Yes, sir?"
"Are you Meikyuu? I have something for you."
"I am but I shouldn't get anything. You can return home, old man."
Trying to shut the door, I found I couldn't. His foot was in the way and a smile was still plastered on his face. "The council would like to see you."
So that's why he came. But how did it go from something to give, to the council wants me? I opened the door and his eyes lit up. The smile was kind but I didn't want to trust it. he motioned for me to follow and I did. My eyes locked on him but my ears locked on everything. He led me through the village, towards the coucil but then he turned down a road.
"Isn't it that way?"
"That's for normal meetings."
But we got to a small waterfall and I was suspisious.
"I know you're no old man. Who are you and what do you want?"
"I thought you would know, un."
"Deidara!"
He chuckled and turned back into himself in a puff of smoke. I growled at him, realizing I was stupid to bring nothing wih me. He grabbed my wrist before I could bolt away and spun my around. His breath hissed in my ear.
"Not running away are you, un?" He laughed. "I want my ring back. And I want it now, un."
"I don't have any ring."
"I don't believe you, un."
"I don't have it! No one believes me!"
"I don't believe you because you're you, un. But as for anyone else, why not believe you, un?"
"Because I'm a traitor. That's what they think thanks to you. How about you kill me and then I can be proven not guilty. Much easier."
"I don't think so, un. Danna's getting angry with me. I don't have the ring and I need it now, un." He had me by the throat the same way he did a few nights ago. He put his hand in front of my face and I could see a clay bird. "I don't want to have to send these everywhere and kill more people, un. It's fun but I'd rather just get my ring back, un."
"What's so special? Just go find it yourself. Don't need me to find some stupid ring."
"That ring, un, is used for sealing demons. You want demons all over the place, un. I don't think so. So give it back before I make a fireworks show of this village, un."
"I don't have your stupid ring!"
"Then you're coming with me, un. I know someone that can get you to talk. Itachi will make sure you spit it out, un." Grabbing the hair on the back of my neck, Deidara dragged me past the waterfall where I could see a giant clay bird. The same bird he and Sasori rode. He threw me on and the bird started to fly before i got a chance o jump off.
As it flapped, I felt it's every movement. As we gained height, I dug my nails into the clay bird. I could hear the blond snicker but I was too terrified of falling to pay any attention.
"Afraid? You flew just the other day, un."
"I'm not meant for flying! Put me on the ground!"
He scoffed and I held on tighter. When something tried to pry my hands out of the clay, I got into a small ball. Deidara laughed as he pulled me into a sitting position against my will. My eyes were wide as I looked at the endless sky. Tears stung my eyes as the wind lashed at them, my skin tingled, and my whole body shook in fear.
"Enjoy it, un."
"No!"
"It's your first real flight, huh, un?" I shivered in response. "It should be fun, un. Here, hold open your arms. I won't let you fall, un."
"I don't trust you!"
My arms were pressed hard against my sides, still clawing into the soft clay. He laughed again before wrapping his arms around me and settling his chin on my head.
"What would I gain from letting you fall, un? I might never find my ring. Besides, un, every first flight should be a balst." He grabbed my wrists and forced my arms open. My breath caught in my throat. The bird wheeled around, causing us to go horizontial. But he didn't let me fall to the ground. "If you tell me where my ring is, I'll take you to the ground, un."
"I don't know where it is! Let me down!" I screamed in terror as we dived towards the ground. It was less than a hundred feet up and diving. "Fine! It's at my house! Just put me on the ground!" It veered away from the oncoming ground.
"Finally, un. I don't even have to ask Itachi for help." He released my arms, letting me once again grab hold of the bird. "Would have been easier if you just answered me the first time with truth, un."
"Why should I?!"
"Because then I wouldn't have to torture you this way." He smiled but I couldn't see it as my eyes were shut tight. I couldn't wait to get back on land.
