Wammy's House; The Other N

When L woke up he found himself on a familiar couch. He looked around and saw he was in his old dorm. A deliciousaroma filled his nostrils and he followed it like a cat smelling catnip. His nose led him to the boiling hot kitchen that smelled wonderfully like raspberries. There, near the stove, Asano found Nodoka. Her head turned around and she saw that he was awake.
"Hey Mr. Sleepyhead!" giggled Nodoka.
"Hello Nodo-kun. May I ask why I'm here?"
"Well, after the last guy left the room I went back in and saw you were asleep. So, with Watari's permission, we put you on my couch. Watari mentioned you would like some sweets when you woke up so, here I am! making raspberry jam!"
"Oh, Nodoka, you didn't --"
"I just finished, you want some?" she interrupted handing him a jar. Gratefully he accepted and dug in with his fingers, putting the sticky jam in his mouth.
Nodoka laughed at his style of eating.
"It's delicious." he said to her.
"Thanks! I have a real knack for cooking." she turned around and poured the rest of the jam in jars.
"So," Nodoka said looking back at L, "Wanna see the rest of the dorm?"
"Sure." L said politely.
She toured him around the rooms, L found everything the same as before, until she opened the bedroom door.
It was a complete mess!
Nodoka saw the look on his face.
"Yeah, I know. All this is Osaka's. I've told her a million times to clean up but it always ends up like this. You see that neat little pile over there?" she pointed to the far right corner, "That's my stuff. But I keep most of it up on the top bunk with my figurines and posters."
L looked up to the top bunk and suddenly knew an important fact about Nodoka.
She was an anime freak. She had loads of wall scrolls, figurines, and plushies of her favorite anime and characters.
Nodoka stepped forward when a crackle came from under foot. With a frustrated 'huph'she ripped the blanket from the floor to reveil a bunch of candy wrappers.
"Ugh! Osaka! Pretty soon bugs are goina come and nest in this! You know, she has a hidden stash of chocolate under her bed!"
L laughed at this, "Mello used to do that."
"Really?" she said, clearly plotting something, "I bet Osaka would love to hear that." suddenly she had an evil look on her face and explained, "Osaka wouldn't tell you, but, she's in love with Mello.So that means anything to do with Mello is either praised or banished." she cackled evily.
Suddenly a bell rang.
"Aww.. lunch time."
Instantly she walked out heading to the gym with L following. When they arrived they went their seperate ways; Lto the head table, Nodoka to her friends.
L sat down nextto Watari and instantly he started to talk to him.
"L, have you found a successor?"
"Huh? Oh, well, not exactly."
Watari looked veryserious, "Explain."
"Well, there's a tie. BetweenNear and Mello. They have the exact same IQ but Mello's headstrong and Near's too young. I cannot decide."
Watari sighed, "Well --"
"But," L interrupted, "I think Near is having doughts about the position and I think Mello is willing."
"Well, how about this, I'll talk to near, and you talk to Mello?"
L nodded, "Sounds good."

That night L played soccer as promised with Mello and twenty other kids including Matt and Osaka. Mello's team won the game 25-24. After the game everyone was going to go over to Matt's and have a Super Smash Bros' tournament but Mello and L stayed behind.
"So what's the thing you wanted to tell me?" Mello said digging in his pocket for a chocolate bar.
"Mello, I'm here to tell you you are an apprentice to become the next L.. if you want to be."
Mello;s eyes widened, "Wow! Really? Of course I want to!"
"Great," L said smiling, "Now how about we go up to Matt's? I did promise him a game.."

After the long party at Matt's, L walked back to Watari's. Opening the door he found that Watari was back and waiting for him.
"Mello is up for it, how's Nate?" he said getting straight to the point.
"I'm sure he's up for it, just scared of the consequences. Soon he will understand and he'll be ready." Watari smiled, "Have you packed? We're leaving in the morning."
"I will be Watari." and L went into his room to pack up then to fall asleep in a peaceful sleep.

In the morning all the luggage was piled in the limo and all that was left was to say goodbye.
The formal goodbye was first and then when only Mello, Matt, Nate, Nodoka, and Osaka were left did L let go of his poker face. He went to Mello first.
"Mello, I just wanted to say good luck and to advise you too learn how to control your emotions." Osaka giggled at this and whispered, "That'll never happen!"
Next L went to Matt, "Matt... congrats on being a lazy videogame player who's brain isn't mush." Everyone laughed.
"I'll take that as a compliment." Matt replied.
L went to Osaka, "Osaka, I didn't get to know you as well as I'd liked, but your one heck of a soccer player." Osaka smirked. "Oh," L leaned in to whisper in her ear, "for heaven's sake clean your room." Osaka turned beet red.
He went to nate next, "Nate.. don't worry about anything, believe me. Nothing's going to happen to me." They embraced in a hug.
Lastly he went to Nodoka, "Nodo-kun.."
"L-kun?" Nodoka smiled.
"It'sbeen a pleasure being with you, and I hope you make it as a singer."
"Ah, about that.." she smirked at the others. Matt brought a stereo out from behind him. "We thought it would be fun if we could do a little musical moment.."
Matt pressed play and the sound of 'Mamma Mia' was blared. Students came out from the main doors serenading Asano singing backup with Osaka and Nodoka singing lead.
Asano was laughing and Watari looked shocked. Everything was perfectly choreagraphed. They even included L with Nodoka and Osaka as they reinacted the musical's scene.
During the last notes of the song Watari and L walked towards the limo waving happily at his home, and family.
The last thing Asano saw was the whole school waving goodbye at their hero, L.
