Chapter 2 : Bury Your Diamonds [Jason Hale] |27|
Brooklyn didn't bother cleaning up the mess she had made. Instead she just sat in the middle of it.
She was so angry she didn't realize she was crying till her vision became blurry from tears.
"Fuck." She kicked the cabinet.
She couldn't believe any of this happened. It had been occurring for over eight months, but it seemed to have just hit her with what just happened.
She stared at her phone vibrating across the kitchen floor. She wiped her eyes and answered it.
"Hello?" She sighed.
"Hey. Are you crying?" Jason asked.
"No." She demanded.
"What's wrong?" He knew she was lying.
"Matt was just here." She informed him.
"What happened?" He asked.
"Well, all this shit about how he thinks I got bored with him so that’s why I'm with you. So I told him he was a selfish brat and he wouldn't be happy ever." She summed up.
"What did he say?" He asked.
"He said to never talk to him again and then he left." She sniffled.
"He's just mad, don't worry. He'll realize how good you were to him as a friend and he'll regret it." He told her.
"Right." She pushed some glass aside and lay on the cold floor. It felt good on her skin. She felt like every part of her body was throbbing from how angry she was.
"I miss you." She informed Jason, wanting a change of subject.
"You haven’t even been out of Michigan for.." He paused to count. "Thirteen hours." He informed her.
"I know. I just miss you, though." She sighed.
"I missed you, too." He replied. Brooklyn could hear a few "aw's" in the background.
"God damn it." Jason slammed a door.
Brooklyn couldn't help but giggle.
"Matt and Derrick are in the kitchen." He told her.
"I figured." She sat up and started pushing glass into a pile.
"Warped Tour starts on the 6th this year." He informed her.
"Where at?" she asked.
"California." He told her. "Every year it starts there and ends there."
"That's only in a week." She chuckled. "I thought I wasn't coming for another two weeks." She started sweeping.
"Two weeks is too long. I prefer it be tomorrow, but we can't do anything about that can we?" He stated.
"I guess not." She threw the last traces of broken glass away and picked up the appliances she threw off the counter.
"And bring Tyson, I wouldn't want him to have to be deprived of you for another three months." He assured.
"I will." She laughed.
Part of Brooklyn was starting to feel like everything was going to be okay. Maybe not with Matt, but everything was starting to change for the better. And Matt might have started to be something of the past, but either way Brooklyn couldn't help it.
