dedicated to SynKataAnime who gave me a *hug* in a message when i was having trouble with the last chapter. unfortunately i read poisons mesage after i published it so. i'm dedicating this one to her^^ thanks SynKataAnime! and it did help i was still mopy even after.
i yawned rolling out of bed. literally. it would seem i have a habbit of doing that. last night Jacob ad i had stayed out really late so i'd barely gotten five hours of sleep before this morning but i'm dealing. the ride was fun enough to make up for it. i'm only worried about how Jacob is holding up, he did all the running afterall. i walked downstairs and for once bella had beaten me to waking up.
"bella hun? whats the matter?" i asked instantly worried when i aw her frozen over the newspaper but edward beatt me to her.
"bella?" he asked and she jumped.
"did i startle you? i did knock." he apoligized.
"No, no have you seen this?" she asked pointing to the newspaper and i glided over reading from beside edward. 'only one conclusion is indisputable: something hideous is stalking Seatle.' i finished. people just randomly disappearing out of movie theateres? bodies mangled and broken? this isn't?
"edward please tell me its not a bunch of leeches doing this." i said looking up at him eyes wide.
"yes unfortunately it is. no i haven't seen todays news but i knew it was getting worse. we're going to have to do something. quickly." he told us.
"cullen." i said rawing his attention.
"what exactly is going on?" i growled.
"new borns, a few of them. or one their creator aparently didn't explain the rules because they're or just it's rampaging about in the city. new borns aren't exactly like us, they're new vampires, raw in their hunger and virtuallly uncontrolable."
"new borns?" i chocked out.
"what does alice say?" bella cut in.
"thats the problem." edwards frowned further.
"she can't see anything.... though we've made up our minds half a dozen times to check it ourt. she's starting to loose confidence. she feels like she's missing to much these days, that somthings wrong. that maybe her vision is slipping away." edward told us. 'vision? didn't jacob mention before that one of them could see into the future? thats alice?
"can that happen?" bella asked worriedly.
"who knows? no one's ever done a study... but i really doubt it. these things tend to intensify over time. look at aro and Jane." he answered.
"then whats wrong?" i asked.
"self-fulfilling prophecy i think. we keep waiting for alice to see something wo we can go. and she doesn't see anything because we wont really go until she does. so she can't see us there. maybe we'll have to do it blind.". bella shuddered,
"No." she objected.
"did you have a strong disire to attend class today? we're only a couple days from finals; they won't be giving us anything knew." edward offered.
"I think i can live without school for a day. what are we doing?" bella asked.
"i want to talk to jasper." edward answered. i rocked on my heels feeling like an intruder again, and awkward. edward looked at me then,
"coming?" he asked.
"yes." i answered simply. 'a good thing i had readied myself for school before i came downstairs'. i thought and if i'd woken any latter i'd miss it all.
"you said a bit before about your fathers premenitions i think it would be best if you were fully informed if he thinks your in any kind of danger." edward explained.
"thanks." i told him simply as we left. it was my first time riding in edwards car.... and visiting his family....
"hey edward. ditching bella?" i looked up to see one of edwards brothers, he liked to laugh a lot, mostly found something to laugh at in bella, i'd noticed, but i didn't know any of them that well but for alice who i shared class with, mostly i stuck with my closer friends. well friends excluding Bella. jessica lauren chrsity lizzy brian eric and all them. "we all are." edward staed moving aside.
"ew you stink!" the man laughed. i narrowed my eyes but said nothing.
"asano!" alice cried out shocked.
"who?" a blonde leech asked(actually i'm not all that sure if jasper is blonde sory if i'm wrong).
"bella's cousin." i answered easily.
"yes but its her, well there first time through high school. they might miss something." the big one replied easily to edward.
"i've ditched before." i shrugged. edward rolled his eyes but otherwise ignored his brother tossing the paper to another leech. he was a bit older than the rest. i asumed he acted as the father. Carlisle cullen, the doctor.
"did you see they'reconsidering a cerial killer now? edward asked. the vampire sighed.
"they've had two specialists debating that possiblity on CNN all morning."
"we can't let this go on.
"lets go now!" the big one said with sudden enthusiasm. i grinned then,
"i'm dead bored." i chuckled as well. he was like the pack, anxcious for some action. a hiss echoed down the stairway from upstairs.
"she's such a pessimist." the big guy muttered tom himself. edward aggreed with the big leech.
"we'll have to go sometime."
a beautiful blonde female leech decended the stairs slowly. her face was smooth and expressionless. carlisle shook his head,
"i'm concerned. we've never involved ourselves in this kind ofthing before. its not our buisness. we aren't the Voltruli." he said. i frowned at the unfamilar name.
"i don't wan the voltruli to have to come here." edward replied.
"it gives us so much less reaction time." 'i'm sooooo lost.'
"and all those innocent humans in seatle," a woman murmured. also someone i hadn't seen at school. i asumed she was carlisel's wife, esme cullen.
"its not right to let them die this way." she finished sadly.
"i know." carlisle sighed.
"oh!" edward said sharply,
"i didnt think of that. i see you're right. that has to be it. well that changes everything." i furowed my brow resistig the urge to peek in their brains but waited quietly.
"i think you'd better explain this to the others." edward told the blonde male.
"what could be the purpose of this?" he wondered aloud and began to pace.
"what is he rambling about?" alice asked the leech.
"what are you thinking?" he didn't seem to enjoy the spotlight, he hesitated looking over all our faces pausing on bella.
"your confused." he said to her.
"we're all confused." the big one and i grumbled at the same time. our gazes met briefly in mutual surprise before we turned back to the vampire.
"you can afford to be patient." jasper told him.
"bella and asano was it? should understand this too. bella's one of us now." 'of course i'm not but whatever.' i opened my mind to edward, 'i really don't think i quite belong here. can't you guys just explain latter?' i asked.
"weren't you so anxcious for answers before?" edward spoke startling everyone. i scowled but didn't answer pulling my walls back up.
"how much do you know about me bella?" the leech asked ignoring the exchange and i looked over curious.
"not much." my cousin addmitted. the vampire stared at edward who looked up to meet his gaze.
"no." edward answered the unspoken question.
"i'm sure you can understand why i haven't told her that story. but i suposse she needs to hear it now. " Edward finished. he nodded, then began to roll up the arm of his sweater. i watched uncertain and confused as he held his arm under the lamp then gasped. i recognized those sccars. old memories from the pack, and the stories, the explinations and jacob had seen one once on bella.
"oh." bella breathed as she realized what they were.
"jasper, you have a scar exactly like mine." i deadpanned. 'baka! not just one! thousands of them look!' bella held out her hand and i saw the small silvery scar compared to his. jasper, or at least who i percieved to be jasper from her earlier words, smiled faintly,
"i have a lot of scars like your, bella." bella looked at her scar thinking a bit then looked at his and then i realized she hadn't realized, just recognized the connection of similar scars as her next words came tumbling out. she gasped staring wide eyed at jasper.
"jasper, what happened to you?" she cried out. this time i actually smacked my forhead drawing a few looks but bella's eyes stayed fixated on jasper. 'seriously bella? i had no idea you could be so obtuse.' i thought exhasperated.
