I threw my head back, and laughed, in a state of pure ecstacy, as I ran through the streets of New Jersey. Beside me, ran Mischa, Kay, Mike, David and Alex. Their faces showed the same exileration (sp?) as mine, completely captivated by the power and energy we had so suddenly received. The wind blew in our happy faces, making our hair trail crazily behind us. Mischa giggled in excitement, and I shot her a grin. I grabbed her hand, and then grabbed Mike's on my other side. Kay, Alex and David joined the line, and together we ran onto the highway, holding hands.
The highway had been closed for reconstruction, but now that it was night, there was no workers, nor cars, to be seen. We had the long, wide highway, all to ourselves, to experience our first night of Vampirism.
Suddenly, Alex, who was on the right end of the line, skidded to a halt, causing us all to come to a sudden stop, toppling all over each other.
We looked up, to see what had caused Alex to brake so suddenly, and found her clutching her stomach, laughing hysterically. When she saw our confused faces, she toppled to the floor, laughing even harder. Her giggles caused happy tears to roll down her face.
I stared at her, eyebrows raised. What the fuck was she on?
"That was fucking-" She started, broken off by another fit of giggles.
"Fucking hilarious!" She exclaimed, before bursting into laughter again. I couldn't help but grin when I realised she'd just stopped running because she wanted to see what would happen. She'd done it on purpose, just so we would trip over each other like we had.
"Okay, now you've set me off." Kay said with a playful growl, before lunging herself at Alex with a smirk on her lips. I sucked in a deep breath, shocked by what was going on. Why were they fighting?
I got up, wanting to break the fighting pair apart, but I was stopped.
I felt a hand on my shoulder, and I saw Mike look into my eyes, grinning.
"They're just playing Ruby." He said. I blushed, as I realised I had overreacted slightly.
"Oh..." I said with an embarassed grin, before stepping away from Kay and Alex, watching them mess around with each other. After a minute or two, they broke up, panting, and giggling in excitement.
"I love being a Vampire!" Alex exclaimed, before prancing around in circles, making little twirls while jumping higher than any human could've done. I burst out in laughter, and sat down on the concrete of the highway. I let myself fall back, lying on the cold black surface, staring up at the night sky. I smiled, and realised that I completely, utterly agreed with Alex. I loved being a Vampire.
I was lucky. Other humans that turned into Vampires were probably forced to turn, all alone, having to leave everyone they knew behind. Us, on the other hand, had been in a horrible situation, and chosen Vampirism. We were together, best friends, and even though there'd be other people we'd miss, it wasn't all that bad.
The energy and happiness that flowed through me, was greater than the sadness I felt for missing my family.
I gazed at the stars, and looked for the brightest one. Once I'd found it, I smiled. For some reason, it got me thinking about Gerard again. It was easier now, than it had before, to think of him. I wrote a letter with my mind. The letter that I would give to him, if only I knew where he was.

Gerard.
I love you. No matter where you are and what you do, I always will. Just know that.
You might not love me anymore, but I'm sure you once did.
I don't know what caused you to lose control like you did that night in Heath's house, but I forgive you.
Enjoy the rest of your life. Find someone you truly love.
And even though you left me by your own will... Dont forget about me.

I spoke this silently, letting my thoughts say the words that I'd longed to speak for quite some time now. Only now did I feel strong enough to let my thoughts dwindle on Gerard.
I wondered where he was, and what he was doing.
I wondered wether he was enjoying himself, and wether he regretted leaving me even the slightest bit. Secretly, I hoped he did, because I certainly missed him.
Now that I was a Vampire, the missing was different. As a human, it had been unbearable. I had needed him around me, wanted him with me every second of my life.
Now, as a Vampire, I still wanted him with me, but it was easier. I was able to accept the fact that he'd left, even though, if it was possible, I felt as if I loved him more than ever. It was as if, now that I was a Vampire, I felt connected with him, and he wasn't completely gone. He was more with me now. In my heart, in my thoughts, and in the air around me. His presence lingered, more than when I was a human, and I liked it. It made me feel home, wherever I was.
"Guys!" David shouted, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked up, to see everyone was listening to him.
"We should go back now. You know, meet all those people that want to join us in living murder-free." He said. I smiled, as I realised what was waiting for us when we went back to the Vampire headquarters. We'd woken up in Manserfield, the Vampire headquarters, after being turned, and learnt that this place was unreachable for humans. It was a place where Vampires went, to have their kind of fun. They had bars, clubs, hotels, swimming pools, and even a fun park. Of course, the authorities were also situated there. We were going to go to the Leading Vampire building, sort of like the White House of the Vampire world, and there we would see which Vampires wanted to join our... cult. According to Mr.Cradlesmith, it had been quite a lot.
Honestly, I couldn't wait to start this new kind of Vampire life with a bunch of other people that seemed to like my idea.
I stood up, and broke into a run, following the others to Manserfield.
