You sat on the floor, your head in your hands. What could you do? You didn't want other people to save Zero. You wanted to do it yourself, but with Kaname, it didn't seem like you would. Tears welled up in your eyes again as you thought of the stupid mistake you made. You should have never listened to Shizuka. That was the biggest mistake you made. Now, yours and Zero's lived were both in jeopardy.
Suddenly, you heard agunshot and a yelpfromdown the hall. You jerked your head up, eyes widening in fear. This caused your neck to sting viciously.Your limbs were numb and didn't want to move. Yet, you picked yourself up from where you were sitting and walked slowly down the hallway. You didn't care what happened to you, as long as Zero was okay. You could hear your heart race as the silence made your ears hurt. As you walked past the door that was right nextto the one you were previously in, you heard a slight murmur of voices. You stoppedand turned your head towards thedoor. It was slightly ajar, about a few inches. You edged your face closer to the gap and listened. It was Shizuka and Kaname.
"I shouldknown there was something different aboutyou, Shizuka."
"Yes, Kaname. Although, I am surprised that you of all purebloods couldn't tell it was me."
Your eyes widened in shock. Kaname was a pureblood?!
"I am ashamed to say thatI could not figure it out. However, Shizuka, youkilledthe Kiryufamily, along with manyother helpless victims. As I am sure you know, there are consequences for such actions."
You heardfootsteps. They were so quiet, you could barely hear them. Youput one of youreyes in the gap, trying to see. You sawKaname standing behind Shizuka, both beautiful creatures looking like ghosts in the night. Shizuka didn't move however, and this confused you a bit. Suddenly,Kaname'shead tilted and lungedat her neck. The vampiress didn't cry out in pain or anything. She just stayed silent.
"I didn't think you would be the one to kill me, Kaname. I thought it would be Zero, of all vampires."
You placed your hands over your mouth, stifling in a gasp. You slowly walked to the other door, where you heard another yelp. Everything seemedas if you were still dreaming.It seemed like decades until your hand grabbed the doorknob. You opened the door slowly and saw thatonly Zero was in the room, lying on the floor. He was gasping for air and seemed like he was inimmense pain. Heclawed at his throat with his fingernails. You ran over tohim.
"Zero!" you yelled.
Still gasping, he stared at you with intense, red eyes. His mouth formeda word, but you couldn't figure out what it was. His fangs protruded from his pale lips as he tried to get up, only to fall. You grabbed his arm to help him, but he pushed youaway, causing you to fall on the ground.
You watched him as he struggled alone. Was this what a vampire really was? Did you want to be like this? You shook your head,pushing asideyour thoughts.Now, Zero was standing and not on the ground. He stumbled slightly, walking over to you. You felt a little afraid of how he was acting, and as you walked over tohim, you stopped, afraid of his intense gaze. Still panting, he pushed you into the wall, pinning you there. You gulped, afraid of what hemight do. He grabbed the front of your shirt, rippingit a bit as his face inched closer to yours. Although the pain was still there, it diminished only slightly. Suddenly, hisicy lips crashed forcefully into yours. Your heart raced wildly asthe pain of his cold lips hurt yours.He broke away from your lips, kissing your jaw line. You bit your lip until it almost bled as he kissed your neck.He kissed harder each time his lips met your neck. Suddenly, he stopped. You wondered why he did, and then it dawned on you. The cut on your nec from Ichiru's blade was still there. Although it was only a small cut, it still bled profusely. Then , Zero's lips kissed harder thanbefore on you neckuntil it was almostpainful. You felt his tongue gently graze the cut, making you wince slightly. He brought yourhands above your head, pinningthem with both of his hands. There was no way you could escape now. Suddenly, he began to drink the fresh bloodcoming from the cut. You quietly yelped as he pushed his mouth harderon your cut.Then you began to feel a sharp pain just above the cut, which hurt more than your injury. Yourealized that Zero pierced your neck with his fangs. A smile formed on you lips as you thoughtyour blood would satisfy Zero'sthirst, causing no more suffering for him. You beganto feel weak, and soon your legsbegan to buckle form under you.
"Zero," you whispered, grabbing his shirt with one ofyour freehands.
Still, he didn't listen, drinking your blood, still panting.
"Zero," you said louder, pulling on the shirt.
Again, he didn't hear you, pulling you closer to him. Youeyes began to feel heavy.
"Zero!" you yelled with all your strength.
He stopped, pulling away from you. His eyes looked frightening, the same color of the blood that dribbleddown his lips and chin.
"Stop," you ordered.
Surprisingly, Zero's eyes turned back to their original lavender color. He shook his head and looked at you.
"______, what happened-"
He stopped in mid-sentence, staring in horrorat your neck.
"Oh my God!" he whispered.
Suddenly, he pulled you to hischest, which felt frozen despite him wearing a shirt. He held you tightly.
"I'm so sorry," hewhispered.
As you both sat on the ground,you could hear him quietly sniffle as he placed hischin ontop of your head.
