Adalena woke up and both her and Blair were wrapped in blankets in Blair's bed. Adalena sat up trying to get out from under the blanket. When she managed it she ran to the bathroom.
When she came back out Blair was sitting on the bed rubbing sleep from eyes. "So are you going to call Chuck?" Blair asked.
"Yeah...I know I shouldn't but I'm going to." Adalena said. "I just want to talk to him."
"Yeah thats true..." Blair said. "Breakfast first?" She asked. Adalena nodded. "Good I think its already made like always." She shrugged.
Adalena and Blair walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. The table was set and their food was already there. They sat down and ate quickly. Once Adalena was done she went back to her place. She showered and changed.
Adalena dialed Chuck's number but there was no answer. She called him three more times but he still didn't answer. His voice mail picked up. "Chuck, look I know you're mad at me but please just talk to me. I don't want you to hate me. Please." She hung up.
She thought about it and decided to walk over to the Palace. Once she was outside she felt like someone was watching her. She looked acrossed the street and noticed a black limo. She figured it was just her over exaggerating. She kept walking.
Half way to the Palace she was waiting to cross the street when she noticed the same guy as she saw what looked like the same guy in the long black trench coat. She felt her heart pounding in her chest suddenly.
She felt herself becoming paranoid and she soon regretted talking to Carter.
She walked faster down the block hurrying into the Palace. She walked in and went to the elevator. She took it to the top floor and knocked on the Bass-Van der Woodsen suite.
The door opened and Bart was standing there. "Adalena, its lovely to see you." He said smiling at her. Bart had really grown to like her when he noticed the change in Chuck.
"You too sir." She said politely. "Is Chuck here?" She asked.
Bart crossed his arms. "Chuck?" He said unsure. "He isn't here, he never came home last night actually. I thought he was with you." He said looking confused.
"We were supposed to go out...but...it didn't happen." Adalena said slowly. "I spent the night at the Waldorf's."
"Oh really? Well he is probably just with Harry." Bart shrugged. "I'll let him know when I see him that you stopped by." He smiled.
"Thank you Mister Bass." Adalena said smiling politely before walking out.
She got on the elevator and pulled out her phone. She didn't have Harry's number. She walked out the Palace standing outside trying to think. Adalena noticed a guy with slicked back hair standing across the street. She was watching him. She knew he looked familiar.
She felt someone grab her. Adalena jumped turning to face Nate. "Oh my gosh, you scared the shit out of me." She said taking a deep breath.
"Sorry." Nate awkwardly. "Um...I was wondering...have you talked to Blair about everything that happened?" he asked. Adalena nodded. "Oh okay..."
"Don't worry Nate, I'm sure everything will work out." Adalena said patting his shoulder. "Have you talked to Chuck today?" Adalena asked.
"Well I talked to him in the morning...like 6:30. He was really drunk, he was out with Harry the whole night but I haven't since then." Nate shrugged. "I came here to talk to him actually cause I've been calling him."
"Well he isn't here." Adalena stated.
"Oh really?" Nate asked. She nodded. "Well...I'll see you around then." He said before walking away.
Adalena turned her attention back to across the street to notice the guy with the slicked back hair was gone. But there looked to be a guy with a trench coat standing there now. Adalena ignored it. She pulled out her cell phone and dialed a number she hoped she never would have too.
-------------
Adalena walked into the coffee shop taking a seat in the back. She didn't want to be seen by any one. She ordered a decaf and waited. Finally the familiar face sat across from her.
"What do you want?" Carter asked. "You weren't too happy when I called yesterday."
"Carter do you have Harry Bass's number?" She asked.
"You called me all the way over here to get his number?" Carter asked annoyed. She rolled her eyes. "Fine." He wrote it down handing it to her. "What happened?" He asked.
"I feel like I'm being followed...but I don't know if I'm being paranoid or not." She said unsure. "Some guy with a trench coat...which is so cliche thats why I think I'm paranoid." She stated.
"Why don't you call Chuck?" Carter asked. "Oh wait, I heard you guys broke up." He smirked. "Was that just gossip?" He asked.
"We didn't break up and you're truly an asshole." She stated. "I'm trying to be serious here. Do you know any one, other than Harry Bass, with the initials H.B.?" She asked.
Carter remained silent. His face changed suddenly. "I know a Henry Brutus." He lowly.
"Who is that?" She asked.
"It doesn't matter." Carter said. "Cause there is no way he would have anything to do with Harry Bass...Henry is...more...no it just wouldn't work." He stated.
"Why?" She asked.
"Henry Brutus is...high up in ranking. If he was trying to get to you first he would've done it already and second there would be no way out of it for you but...you know." He shrugged. "He is powerful, he is part of the French mob that started to develop a couple years ago but got shut down when...well your father moved here."
"So what does that mean for me?" She said unsure.
"Look, just avoid Harry and don't go anywhere alone for a while." Carter said standing. "I have to go, many things to do." He began to walk away.
"Carter!" Adalena called out and he turned around. "Thank you, I mean it." She said. He nodded and then disappeared to the outside. Adalena looked at Harry's number and dialed it. She waited while the phone rang.
"Who is this?" She heard him answer.
"Where is Chuck?" She asked her voice already annoyed.
"Oh its you..." He said. "I don't know where Chuck is but I do know you're a whore." He said and Adalena knew he was smirking. "At least thats what I heard...from Carter Baizen."
"Just tell me where Chuck is." She said plainly.
"I don't know. I wasn't joking. He left around 6 and I haven't seen him since." Harry said. "He was higher than a kite..." He said his voice drifting off.
"Harry do you owe anyone money?" She asked wanting the truth.
"So you really have been hanging around Carter?" Harry asked laughing. "Chuck can really pick them, huh."
"You're no help." Adalena stated before hanging up the phone. She dialed Chuck's number again. She only got his voice mail. "Hey Chuck, it's me...again. Please call me back. I'm starting to get worried and I'm scared to be honest. I have to tell you about Carter and Harry...so please call me...it's important. I mean it." She hung up. Adalena took a deep breath. She needed to relax.
Adalena walked out looking around. She wanted to make sure she wasn't being followed. She walked quickly back to her condo and went to her room. She just wanted to sleep.
