When you woke up, you realized the mobile cage that was Ian’s SUV was still moving. You looked over and saw that Mr. Gates was still sleeping. You’d been furious when you found out they’d kidnaped him and tried to demand they release him, but, in Shaw’s words, you were "in no position to give orders." He didn’t seem too happy they’d captured you either, and he kept going on and on about the nasty scrape on your forehead from when Ian tripped you that you hadn’t even noticed until he brought it up. Just then Ian’s phone rang, snapping you out of your flashback. "Hello? What a pleasant surprise....Oh, she’s fine...uh-huh.....uh-huh....Only if I can keep all the treasure....We have a deal...Yes. Goodb- Oh hello, Riley..." Riley? That, means he must have been talking to Abigail. About what? Why would she call him? You had to talk to him. "Give me the phone." Ian just looked at you like you were crazy. "Well, she’s fine at the moment, but if she doesn’t change that little attitude of hers, I can’t make any promises." Time for a different approach. "Please, Ian. Please, let me talk to him." He looked at you, and you could see by the look in his eyes that he was amused by your sudden change of tone. "Calm down, Riley, and I might let you speak to her." He chuckled. "That’s what I thought." He barely had the phone away from his ear when you ripped it from his grasp, making him smile. "Riley?" You didn’t mean to sound quite that desperate, but you couldn’t help it. "Alyson! Oh, thank God you’re alive! Did he hurt you? Are you alright?" You smiled at his concern, "I’m fine, Riley, really." "I can’t believe I let him take you." He must be joking. "Riley, this isn’t your fault. How could you say that? If you would’ve tried anything, they would’ve just kidnaped you, too. Or worse. Where’s Ben?" No answer. "Riley?" "He was arrested." WHAT!? "Arrested? Are you kidding me?" "I wish I was. He was arrested right after you were k-kidnaped." In the last 12 hours you’d gone from foolishly optimistic to depressingly hopeless. With good reason, I might add. You had been kidnaped, along with your best friend’s father, by a greedy jerk, all while said best friend was being arrested by the F.B.I. for stealing one of the most important documents in history. Abigail called Ian. She must have a plan. Then you saw Mr. Gates stirring in the seat next to you, his hands duct taped together just like your own. I gotta get him outta here. "Riley, I don’t know when or how they did it but they kidnaped-" Ian had the phone out of your hands and hung up. "That wasn’t in your best interest, my dear. You’re very lucky I hung up before you finished what you were trying to say. I’d like to keep Mr. Gates’s presence a secret. A nice surprise for Ben." That got your attention. "Ben? Didn’t you hear?" Despite the urgency you felt, you couldn’t keep the sarcastic tone out of your voice, "Ben was arrested." He smiled knowingly at you. "We are on our way to New York at this very minute. We will help Ben escape from F.B.I. custody and then he will lead us to the treasure. However, I need you to tell me where the last clue leads to." Me? "New York." You knew getting on his nerves probably wasn’t a good idea, but it was just too much fun. "You will lead us there. If we don’t get the treasure, you and dear old dad won’t walk away from this alive." You smiled, "As opposed to walking away dead?" He didn’t see the humor in the situation. "Shaw, pull over here. Time to rid ourselves of excess baggage." If it had just been you in the car and Ben hadn’t been in trouble, you would’ve let them pull over and try to kill you, but, seeing as that would put other people’s lives in danger, you decided it was time to tell them where to go. "Okay, okay! I’ll tell you. Jeeze. You don’t have to be such a butthead." He was ready to kill you and you knew it. "Tell me where the clue leads." This is too easy. "Patience is a virtue." "Shaw?" "Alright! Relax. Wall Street and Broadway." You looked over at Mr. Gates, who had woken up and was trying to figure out what was going on without interrupting, then you looked back at Ian, who didn’t look convinced at all. You sighed and began a Ben-like explanation. "The map said ‘Heere at the Wall’ spelled with two E’s. Wall Street follows the path of an actual wall the original Dutch settlers built as a defense to keep the British out. The main gate was located at a street named Deheere, also with two E’s. Later Deheere was renamed Broadway after the British got in." By now, you had captured the attention of everyone in the car, "Heere at the Wall, Wall Street and Broadway." you finished with a smile. Ian seemed satisfied with the explanation. "Now please try to behave yourself for the remainder of our trip." I can’t help myself if he keeps asking for it. You decided to tell him as much. "I keep trying, but you are making it way to easy to undermine you." He just glared at you before turning back around and looking out the windshield.

Shaw parked the car near the corner of Wall Street and Broadway, across the street from a church. There was a banner identifying it as Trinity Church. Ian was waiting about 20 feet away from the church’s entrance and Shaw was guarding your car door. Just then a car pulled up and parked where Ian was waiting and you saw Ben climb out. You looked over at Mr. Gates and then at Shaw, who had his back to you, and you came up with a plan. I hope Ian doesn’t mind me ruining his surprise. "Mr. Gates?" He sighed. "Alyson, I’ve been telling you since you were seven years old, you can call me Patrick." "Ok. Patrick?" "Yes?" He sounded so tired. You felt really bad about him being dragged into all this. "I’ll probably be right back, but if not, I will get you out of here." You emphasized every syllable, "Ben will get you out of here." He looked a little scared. "Well, what are you gonna do? Alyson, these guys have guns and you’ve already made them angry. Just sit tight. Don’t do anything stupid." You smiled at his fatherly response, "You know me. I just can’t help myself. Shh. Watch this." You knew he wasn’t supportive of whatever your plan was, but he didn’t argue anymore. You turned your attention back to Shaw. You unlocked your door, making a little clicking sound that was just loud enough to make him turn around and put his face next to the window to try and see what it was. You took a deep breath and opened your door really fast, knocking Shaw to the ground. I hope I hit him hard enough to knock him out or I’m not gonna get very far. You jumped out and started to run towards Ben. "Ben! He has your dad! He kidnaped your dad!" You screamed so loud it hurt and he definitely heard it. You hadn’t counted on one of the men that arrived with Ben grabbing you before you made it halfway across the street. "Let me go!" He had you by the hair and you could felt him jam his gun into the small of your back. It really hurt and made you stop yelling. Ben watched helplessly, and Ian asked him, "Is there anything else you want to tell me?" When Ben didn’t answer, he added, "She’s been an awful lot of trouble since the beginning and I think Shaw would especially enjoy-" Ben cut him off, still looking at you, "Trinity Church." He looked at Ian again, "We have to go inside Trinity Church."
