Walking in the Rain
Chapter 8 : Walking in the Rain- Chapter Eight
I soon found out who ted was. The one who charged up to me with a blue and black jaw. The one I had punched. Great just great. I dropped my bag ready to swing if I had to.
My hands clenched into fists and I winced at the pain that went through them. I looked up at ted who was still making his way towards me.
Now since I was in hearing distance he was yelling, “I’ll teach you to punch me bitch.”
There was that B word again, when did I get that name? When did I deserve to be called that? I shook my head a focused on the boy coming towards me.
When he was right in front of me I choose this time to be a smart ass, “what you’re going to prove that you can win a fight with a girl? I’m sure your buddies will be impressed that you can fight a girl not even half your size.”
“Are you calling me fat?” was all he got out of it.
“No I’m calling you…ugh never mind I can see your peanut sized brain is too small to comprehend the concept I’m trying to get through that thick skull of yours.” I said in annoyance. His face turned red and lifted his hand to punch me.
But before anything could happen Ted was pinned against a tree with his arm twisted behind his back by no other then Myles McKay.
“Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?” I heard him hiss in Ted's ear. I stared wide eyed.
“Piss off McKay this is none of your business.” Ted said his words came out gurgled because his face was being pressed into the tree.
“The hell it isn’t.” Myles said as he let go off ted spun him around and punched him right in the face. My mouth dropped open as I watched ted fall to the ground.
Myles turned to me and the anger that had colored his features seconds ago was now full of concern, “are you okay.”
I nodded mutely staring at Ted on the ground. My view was blocked by Myles who was now fully in my view I looked up to him his eyes seemed to have just a hint of the harsh blue in them, “good.” I nodded again. Staring up at him.
“I’ll be seeing both of you in detention for the next two weeks.” Mr. Johnson’s voice called out dryly. Myles didn’t move out of my line of vision but just turned so that his back was to me.
“Wouldn’t have it any other way.” Myles stated. I heard Johnson snort and then some grumbling from Ted. I leaned around Myles almost losing my balance to see that Mr. Johnson was helping Ted lean up against the tree with a cloth to his bloody nose and his slightly swollen eye had ice pressed against it.
Johnson looked up and said simply, “class now.”
Myles nodded and then put his arm around my waist and started to drag me towards the front doors. I sputtered the whole way jumping from subject to subject, “why did you…how did you…why are you…about last…detention…again… your fault.”
Well I sputtered he stared straight a head with an amused expression on his face every now and then looking down at me and chuckling. When we stopped in front of my first class I looked up at him confused, “how did you know…”
But he cut me off, “look at it this way two weeks of detention gives us plenty of time to work on that deal of ours.”
He said with a wink and then walked off leaving me staring after him.
He was very strange boy.
The day went by with out any mishaps no rude comments. People eyed me as if I was puzzle. And then I over heard a conversation that made me figure out why I was a puzzle.
“Just respect his wishes man.” It was jess’s voice and it was coming around and the corner and down the hall. It was the end of the day and I was putting my stuff away ready to head off to detention.
“I’m not the one who did anything to her man.” I didn’t recognize this voice but it was male’s.
“I know okay? I know and he won’t let me live it down either. Now his got half the school friggin terrified to talk to her. And no one understands but me, you, him and Noah” jess replied vastly and annoyed.
“She almost got her faced smashed in by Ted. Nasty bulling and name calling is one thing, but she almost got punched repeatedly. Give the boy some credit there’s only so much he can watch and take about that girl.” The deep voice replied skillfully and wisely.
“I guess your right. I just hate riding with Noah, his car is so messy!” jess exclaimed and the conversation quickly turned to a different subject. I made my way down the hall in the opposite direction questions flying through my head faster then a bullet.Did you like this story? Make one of your own!
