A Josh Hutcherson Love Story

CHAPTER 6

“I GOT IT! I GOT THE PART MANDY!” I yelled into the phone in the car. I was gleaming at the piece of paper Liza gave me. It was beautiful. I could frame it. I continued, “I auditioned with Josh Hutcherson, my boyfriend, might I add and they loved me!”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” She said, calming me down. Mandy’s my absolute best-non famous-friend. We’ve been BFF’s since we were 3. Mandy interrupted my thoughts by saying, “You can’t just call me up on my cell, have me answer, yell you got the part of something and tell me Josh Hutcherson is your boyfriend. Maddie, I understand you were in the ER with Zac but to me, your talking baloney! Start from the beginning please!”

I told her everything from when Josh and me got together to 5 minutes ago. Then it was her turn to yell, “OMG! NO WAY! You…Josh…Movie…Couple…Holy…Oh My.”

The next day I had practices with the cast. Josh and I even invited Ash, V, Selena, Miley, Zac, Corbin and Cody to watch.

In the car, everyone could not stop talking about this movie. For the trillionth time, Zac said, “I’m so proud of you!” Zac’s like the brother I never had.

First thing first, I had to record ‘True Friend’. I always wanted to be in a recording studio but when I entered the booth, a million butterflies entered my stomach. I was asked to take a few breaths, do a few warm-up exercises and start. After I did a few La-la-la-la-la-la-la’s the producer said, “Madeline Bramford, True Friend, Tapes Rolling.” And I started.

“We signed are cards and letters BFF. You’ve got a million ways to make me laugh. You're looking out for me; you've got my back. It's so good to have you around…”

When I finished, the producer said, “That was awesome Maddie. Now, I want you to do some background vocals, like, Ohhh, Yeahhh, Mmmm, etc. Ok? Just read the words on the laptop.” I nodded my head while he continued, “We’ll play the playback while you do the background vocals then we have a surprise for you.”

Once I finished, Miley entered the booth. I gave a confused look and she said, “SURPRISE! We’re gonna do a True Friend collaboration! Aren’t you excited?”

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! No way! I get to sing with Miley? I thought. Then I said, “Of course!”

The music started and Miley started singing, “We signed are cards and letters BFF. You’ve got a million ways to make me laugh. You're looking out for me; you've got my back. It's so good to have you around.”

Then I sang, “You know the secrets I could never tell. And when I'm quiet you break through my shell. Don't feel the need to do a rebel yell ‘cause you keep my feet on the ground”

Then, together, harmonizing, we sang the chorus, “You're a true friend. You're here till the end. You pull me aside, when something ain't right. Talk with me now and into the night 'till it's all right again, you're a true friend.”

When we were done, we left the booth and heard the playback. It sounded amazing. I looked at Josh and he had this amazing look in his eye like there was no one in the room except me.
