A Josh Hutcherson Love Story

CHAPTER 4

Our 15 minutes break turned into half an hour because of everything that was going on. Because of that, the movie ran late. When the movie finished, they all got ready to leave. I hugged everyone good-bye and we all promised to go out for lunch tomorrow. When I got to Josh, I leaned in and told him he could sleep at my house tonight. He agreed. We waved bye to everyone and it was just us.

There was an awkward silence in the room. Josh broke it by saying, “So, there was another reason I wanted to talk to you privately.” I looked at him and he continued, “I was offered a role in a movie and filming is here. The movie is called “Lovers Next Door” and I suggested to the crew that you should be my co-star.”

My jaw dropped. I was…I was…I don’t even know the word of my feelings. Speechless I guess. “Oh my god! No way! This night is full of surprises.” I said, excitedly.

Josh laughed then replied, “Yes it is. The director agreed that you’d be perfect for the role. I brought a copy of the script over. I want you to audition for the lead role.”

“Oh..my..AHH!” I yelled. I was so excited that I just couldn’t contain it. Then I calmed myself down and asked, “What’s it about?”

“It’s about two friends who have been friends forever. They’re secretly in love with each other, but they don’t know it. I’m going to be playing the lead character Nicholas Carpen. Nick for short. I want you to play my best friend that I’m secretly in love with. Vanessa Malso. You’re going to be secretly in love with me. You’re nickname that your “BFFs” call you is Vanessa Hudgens. You’re buds names are Hannah Crisologo/Hannah Montana, Ashley Goulken/Ashley Tisdale and my character and your nickname for me-which I hate you calling me-is Nick Jonas. Ok? Got everything?”

“Um…sure. That was a mouthful. Do I have to audition?”

“Yes. Just one. If they like you, you’re in.”

“Sweet!! That’s awesome! Um…when’s the audition?”

“Tommorow?”

“TOMORROW? JOSHUA RYAN HUTCHERSON! HOW THE HEY-HO AM I SUPPOSED TO BE PREPARED FOR TOMORROW??”

“Hey-ho?” I shrugged, “All you gotta do is read one scene with me. If they like you, you’re in.”

“Oh…I feel kinda stupid. So..let’s get practicing.”

For the rest of the evening we practiced every scene. This script sounded like a teen wrote it because it was so good. So realistic! They passed notes, went through break-ups, you name it. One of my favourite scenes we just practiced was when my ex boyfriend comes to my room to apologize, and say he didn’t mean to cheat on me. While he’s saying this I’m drinking water and I spit it out when he says that. So cool! We practiced the rest of the night and crashed out around 11:00 on the couch.

When I woke up it was nine in the morning. My mom was making bacon and eggs like she does every Saturday. I realized Josh & me slept on the couch last night. Ow! I thought My neck hurts.

“Hey mom.”

“Morning Maddie.”

“So… never heard of letting your daughter sleep in her room?”

My mom replied, “You looked so peaceful. I tried to wake you but you said go away and leave me with Josh.”

“Oh…” I said coolly, “I knew that. Pff.”

“Mmhmm. Breakfast is ready. Want to go wake up Josh?”

“Sure. But first listen. Josh told me there’s a movie he’s making here and he told me to try out. He said if they like me, I’m in!”

“Wow! That’s amazing!”
