We arrived at school and Jason and I started walking towards the front door.
"Hey Kimmie Boo?" Jason asked as his pace got a little slower.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"Why are those guys staring at you?"
I looked forward and sure enough there were Brendon and Ryan staring our way. Brendon stood up once he saw me and waited patiently by the door, a look of excitement plastered across his face. Ryan was leaning against the building with an unreadable look on his face. His cool demeanor was a bit more intriguing than Brendon's peppy one but it felt like a shard of glass ripped through me as he quickly looked away as we approached them.
"Hey Kimmie!" Brendon said giving me a hug that lasted probably alot longer than necessary, but I couldn't complain, I liked it.
Once he released me I replied, "Hey Bren. Hey Ry, what's up?"
Ryan eyes quickly darted over to me and looked away again grumbling, "Nothing."
I shrugged off his bad temper and introduced the guys to Jason.
After a few hellos and how are you's, Jason told me he had to leave and would see me after school. I was left alone in silence as Brendon, Ryan and I walked to class. Brendon was on my right and Ryan was on my left. I watched them both as we kept walking. Brendon slowly grabbed my hand about halfway to class and I gave him a reassuring smile but didn't fail to notice Ryan flinch a little as he saw. The shard of glass poked me again but I ignored it. Ryan's feeling's shouldn't hinder my growing relationship with Brendon, should it?
I was relieved when we had to split up to go to class. Ryan and I had History while Brendon had English. Brendon gave me another hug as we left and I blushed a little as he kissed my hand and walked away. Ryan was already walkign away from me so I had to runa little ways to catch up to him.
"Ry, what's wrong?"
He quickly glanced at me again but faced forward, only walking faster and replying, "Nothing."
I grabbed his hand and he turned around too quickly, only to have me run into him but he didn't budge. His face was a calm sort of furious. One that was interesting but also frightening at the same time. My hand was still inside his as we stood in the middle of the hallway.
"Ry, I don't like you being mad at me. What isyour problem?"
That just infuriated him even more.
"What's my problem?"
My eyes grew wide, "That's not what I meant, I meant to-"
"You are my problem," He said jerking is hand away from mine, "I liked you, alot. I thought you liked me too and then you met Brendon, I'm left alone and I'm suppost to act happy to see you two together?"
"We're not dating, we're just-"
"That's not what he thinks. He just keeps talking about how prom is going to be amazing since he's going with you and how he can't wait to kiss you. That only makes me think about that moment where I actually got to kiss you and in that moment I was happy."
"That's not fair and you know it."
"What's not fair Kimmie? Tell me what isn't fair to you."
"You never asked me to prom and we agreed to try and be firends or didn't you believe that I meant it?"
"You never gave me a chance to ask you. I did agree to try and be friends but that doesn't mean I don't like you anymore."
He inched closer to me and grabbed my handas he continued talking, "That doesn't mean that I don't wish I could be with you."
His lips were only a couple inches from mine and I stared into his eyes trying to figure out what to do. Brendon, Ryan, Brendon, Ryan... He leaned even closer and our lips were about to touch when the bell rang. I jumped backwards and let go of his hand.
"I'm so sorry Ry," I said and walked to class, already late.
I didn't know what to do or what to say. How would I ever figure this out? I was definitely in a catch 22.
