"What the hell?! Watch were you're going douche bag!" Pristine yelled at the car that had just flew by her on the wet street, sloshing water onto her pant legs. Ugh, people like that piss me of, the dark blond thought to herself.
Shaking her leg angrily to get the excess water off of her pants. Today had not been her day. First, she didn't like her new school or the new city. Everything seemed to fast and blurred to her, like it was trying to mold her into the background so the rhythm wouldn't be thrown off from the bustling city.
Stepping onto the sidewalk that led to the door of her family's apartment, Pristine knew that her mother, Sarah, wasn't home. Her mother was an actress and was hardly ever home due to her busy schedule.
Pristine's father wasn't here. Not because he was busy or ran away with another woman. It was exactly the opposite. Sarah had met Pristine's father (Mark) when she was 19. They fell in love and were married that summer.
When Pristine was 4, her father was in a horrible accident which ended up fateful for both her father and the car that crashed into his. Every since then her mother had busied herself and Pristine kept having strange dreams.
In the dreams, she would be running down never ending passageways and odd creatures would come out and talk to her, but she could never understand what they were saying. The dreams were always vivid and sometimes disturbing.
Luckily for Pristine, she was an aspiring writer, getting the creative gene from her mother, and she used the dreams as a sort of muse. She never told her mother about the dreams, that would only make her mother think that she was traumatized or something.
Feeling a cold drop land on her cheek and quickly slide down, the blond tilted her head up to the sky, seeing that, even in the dark, there were storm clouds rolling in. Quickly shoving her hand into her bag, she pulled out a small wrinkled piece of paper that had the code for the house on it.
Punching in the numbers hurriedly, the 17 year old finally got the heavy metal door to swing open. Stepping into the semi lit hallway, she shook her hair, letting the few rain drops fling off of her short ringlets.
"Ouch! Damn...." the whine escaped her lips as she felt a slight sting in her eyes, an obvious outcome of the rain making her eyeliner and mascara get in her eyes. Rubbing furiously at the irritated eye to stop the pain, not caring if the makeup smeared over her eyelids.
Hell, I'm already labeled as a goth so why not put a little more effort into it eh, she thought sarcastically. Every where she went, people would look at her weirdly. Partly because she scowled at everything and her attitude wasn't the best, but also because she dressed in black and neon colours.
For some reason, people always found that interesting, especially the ones that had known her since she was a kid and used to reminisce over the times when she would wear nothing but pink and frilly outfits that complimented her skin tone and her blue-grey eyes.
But that ended when she turned 15. Pristine had had a bad experience with one of the boys from her Junior High School. It had taken her by surprise and had changed her outlook on everything
*****Flashback, Pristine is 15******
The night was warm and the bubbly blond felt a little creeped out by the lack of street lamps on the dark street. She had been held after school to finish a test and hadn't gotten out until it was already dark.
The walk back to her house wasn't usually this scary, but this was the first time Pristine had walked it alone. Usually she was with her friends or her dog, Pepper. Trying to distract her mind so it wouldn't be making her think that she was hearing shit, she started singing quietly.
Then the worst thing in the world happened. Someone crept up behind the blond, grabbing her arm and throwing her to the ground in the process. The impact of the pavement on her back knocked the breath out of her.
Blue eyes growing wide and mouth gaped in shock, Pristine looked up to see the figure of a boy, no older than 18, kneeling over her, holding a X-Ac to blade to the tender flesh of her throat.
"Heh, I've finally got you Princess, you rich ass snob. This is what you get for treating everybody like you're better then them." The boy, that Pristine had recognized as one of the older boys from her school, started fumbling with his pants, his knee pressing painfully into Pristine's stomach.
Panic filtering through her stomach and up to her throat, the blond started to scream in attempt to be released. But the scream only got her backhand so had that her neck popped. Pain growing below her eye where the boy had smacked her, forcing her to close her eyes as tears spilled over.
The older boy had pinned both of her hands and because of the blow to her face, Pristine thought for sure that her jaw was broken. Silent sobs escaped her paralyzed mouth as the boy started his hands up the front of her skirt.
Suddenly, there was a loud cracking sound and a spray hot liquid hit her cheek. The weight on her wrist and the rest of her body was gone along with the roaming hand. Cracking her eyes open just enough to see what was happening, she saw that the boy was gone.
Propping herself on elbow she looked up a little more and seen the boy on the ground. A small pool of blood was circling around his head from a wound. Standing above the boy was a tall figure. In the moonlight, Pristine could make out the silver lining of spiky yet long hair and a long black cape that seem to have a life of its own.
"Get home." A low rumble of a voice came from the tall stranger. Standing quickly, Pristine froze when the figure turned around. In the darkness she couldn't see all his features but she could see that he was attractive, more than any male she had seen before.
"Wait, first come here." He said flatly. Unable to disobey, she walked quickly up to the man. Lifting his hand up, he brushed it across he pained jaw. As soon as his hand left, the wound quit hurting and Pristine gasped.
"Wh-who are you?" she managed to sputter out in shock. The man smirked, a dark, sexy smile, and then lifted his hand, revealing a crystal orb. "Here, this is for you. A small reminder I guess you could say." the voice of velvet floated through the warm air.
"A paperweight?" Pristine scoffed, temporarily forgetting that this man had knocked her attacker out in one blow. Looking at her like she was retarded, the man just shook his head and turned, walking down the street, leaving the attacker lying unconscious on the ground.
"Hey! Hey, where are you going?!" Pristine yelled, the first time she had ever gotten irritated for nothing. The man laughed. The velvet laugh seemed to vibrate through the dark night. Not looking back, the man spoke, "I'm going Underground."
Her face twisted into annoyance. "That's impossible, and why did you give me this for?" she asked, waving the crystal around as if trying to get the mans attention. "Whenever you feel like you don't want to be here anymore, look into that crystal. You'll see me, and I'll be waiting for you Pristine." he said once more before he seemed to shrink into his cape.
Then flying high above the girl that was frightened by what had just happened and what she had seen, a tawny, beautiful owl flew off toward the moon.
