I Will Be With You[Gerard Way]
Chapter 3 : I Will Be With You[Gerard Way][3]
weeee~
A few weeks went by after that night, we're on our way to Oregon from Florida. We were going to be on the bus for about three days, two and a half maybe. We'd been on the road for maybe an hour before Frank started getting crazy and bouncing off the walls.
"Are we there yet? Please tell me we're almost there!"
"No, Frank, we're probably not even out of Florida yet," I said swiftly, "Dammit, Ray! I swear you cheat!" I was in the middle of a heated game of Mario Cart with Ray, he won of course.
"I do not cheat!"
"Prove it!"
"How?"
"I don't know!" I yelled in fake anger, throwing a pillow at him.
Bob laughed from behind me, scooting me over and taking my place beside Ray.
"Watch a pro at work, Addie," He teased, cracking his knuckles.
I muttered a few things directed to Ray and Bob, but I doubted they could hear since I was seated between Gerard and Mikey, giving an indignant stare at the back of their heads.
"You're face is gonna get stuck that way," Frank giggled, sitting in my lap.
"I'm gonna bite your face off if you don't get off me, Frank," I gasped, "You're knee is in my stomach!"
"Oh, sorry!" He apologized, situating himself differently. "Better?"
"No."
"Am I hurting you?" I shook my head.
"You're just... kind... of heavy," I choked out.
"LIES!" He protested. "I'm as dainty as a ballerina!" I giggled.
"Keep telling yourself that, Frank," Gerard laughed, patting the seat beside him, telling him to sit there instead.
Frank reluctantly got up from me and plopped down besid him with a huff, crossing his arms like a child. I gasped for air a moment and then sighed in relief.
"Life saver!" I exclaimed, wrapping my arms, best I could around Gerard.
He just laughed lightly and stared at the TV for a while, watching Ray and Bob finish up the game. I brought my knees up and settled against him. He was really warm and the bus was always freezing even though outside it was at least 100 degrees.
When the game was over, Ray left Bob to sulk on the floor while he made himself a sandwhich. All he seemed to say for a good fifteen minutes was, "I can't believe he beat me," which sent us all into a laughing fit.
Ray came back with his sandwhich and was greeted by the cold stare of wrath that Bob shot him. Maybe I'm exaggerating, but he was pretty irritated.
"What?" He took a bite of his sandwhich, "Don't get mad at me," He laughed with a mouth full of bread and meat. Gerard stood up and left for the kitchen, leaving me to shiver, so I settled against Mikey.
"You're freezing," He stated.
"She always is," Frank laughed.
"How can you guys not be freezing, too?!" I asked incredilously.
"We're guys, Addie," Mikey pointed out.
"You're one to talk," I joked, leaning into him more. He shifted beside me and started to get up, "If you move, I'm going to bite you," I said tonelessly.
"But I have to, uh, do my business!"
"No you don't," I tried to persuade him.
Mikey begged for another minute or so before I gave in and let him get up. I curled into the couch and waited for Gerard to get back, he was taking forever. I'll bet he was putting everything in the small refridgerator they had between two pieces of bread- or trying to.
I got impatient after a while and saught out my source of warmth, who, in fact was trying to shove as much as he could bettween some bread.
"Hungry, much?" I giggled.
"A little," He laughed, trying to now push the corner of his... sandwhich into his mouth. "What about you?"
"Nah, but you need to get your butt back to the couch."
"Why?"
I took a few steps closer to him and pressed my cold palms to his warm cheek, he jumped a little, and pulled my hand from his face.
"Damn, you're cold as hell- no pun or whatever intended," I gave him puppy dog eyes.
"That's why you should come sit back on the couch, so I don't turn into a popcicle."
"I think I have a better idea," Gerard said, setting his sandwhich on the counter and disappeared to the back of the bus.
He came out a few minutes later with a hoody in his hands and held it out to me. It looked worn in, really worn in, but inviting. It was plain black with red stitching along the pockets.
"It's really old and stuff, but I still wear it sometimes and it keeps me pretty warm," I smiled widely.
"Thanks," I took it from him and slid it over my head. "how's it look?" I asked, spinning around. It was kind of big on me. Gerard was right that it was warm, though.
"Fabulous, darling," He mused.
"Why thank you," He picked up his sandwhich again. "So when do you want it back?"
"Keep it," He smiled best he could with a mouth full of food.
"Really?"
"Yeah, that way if you get cold and I'm not around, you can wear it." I smiled more.
"Thanks!"
Gerard finished his sandwhich and we walked back to the couch and sat for a while, watching Bob and Ray who were at it again, only playing a different game. I didn't pay attention to what game. My mind was far off, thinking about how nice Gerard felt when I was leaning against him.
Bob finally gave up and we watched a movie, by ten all of us were getting restless. No one was tired, I was far from tired but all that changed when Frank suggested we play a game.
"Lets play truth or dare!" Everyone cheered, except me. Was I the only one that didn't want to play?
"I think I'll sit out on this one and head to bed," I pretended to yawn and let my eyelids droop a little.
"No!" Frank whined, "It wont be any fun without a girl! Besides, you were just fidgeting around like a mad woman two minutes ago," He accused.
"Fine, okay," I groaned.
"Yay!" Frank cheered triumphantly. I fought back another groan.
"Okay, so lets all sit in a circle!" He ordered, watching us as we moved into a tight circle, "Okay, who's going first?"
Before anyone could say anything, he volenteered himself.
"Hm," Frank thought to himself, eyeing each of us carefully. "Bob! Truth or dare?"
"Dare, of course," I said, a rather smug look on his face.
"I want you to kiss Ray," He grinned evily, fighting back his laughter.
"No! Oh no, way, Frank! Can't you just dare me to lick the toilet seat or something?" He pleaded.
"Nope," Frank giggled, emphasizing the on the "P".
"I'm not doing it," Bob insisted.
"Fine, then," He sighed, "Go lick the toilet seat...."
"Yes! Wait, ew, but yes!"
After Bob had done his dare, he turned to me, smiling like he had something up his sleeve.
"Truth or dare, Addie?"
"Truth," I smiled.
"You're no fun, Adds," He complained, his plan obviously foiled. After thinking a while he came up with a question to ask me. "Uh, what's your most embarrassing moment?" He asked, lamely.
"That's an easy one," I laughed to myself, "It was in highschool and, if I'm not mistaken, my first day of senior year..." I started, the guys listening intently, "Well, when I walked into the building I saw Katrina- that's my friend who I called a few weeks ago- and I went to say hi to her. For some reason, she looked horrified to see me," I continued, "and I didn't know why, so I picked up my pace to ask if there was something wrong. Half way over to her, I slipped on the floor because the janitor just mopped up someones... puke," I finished, scrunching my face up into one that held disgust. They laughed, Frank and Ray uncontrollably.
"Alright," Bob said between laughs, "you're turn." This was my perfect chance to get back at Gerard. If I could get him to choose dare.
"Gerard! Truth or dare?"
"Dare, duh," He said proudly.
"Payback time," I grinned menacingly. All I could hear from him was a loud gulp. "Gerard," I batted my eyes mockingly, "Go put on one of my new bras and seduce the driver."
"No way!"
"You chose dare," I looked back at Bob, "Or, you can be a chiken like Bobbert, here and go lick the toilet seat..." I sugested.
"Underwear it is!"
The only thing that was heard when Gerard tried to seduce our driver was, "I am bra-man! Tell me you think I'm sexy!" And our bus driver, screaming like a girl. Thank goodness we were pulled over at a rest stop. He walked back in with a face redder than a tomato.
"I'm so getting you back, Addy," He said pulling off the bra and sliding his shirt back on. I just giggled.
"You try and top that."
A few turns later, Frank got to do the daring again.
"Gerard," He called innocently, "Truth or dare?" Gerard rolled his eyes, over his previous dare.
"Dare, again."
"Kiss Addie," Frank smirked.
"What?!" We both exclaimed.
"It's her or my ass," Frank giggled.
I didn't blush this time, the blood ran clear away from my face, like it was alive and was more nervouse than me. I tried to keep my breathing steady and keep from falling over. I found it pretty hard to do. Gerard made his way to me, leaning closer and closer to my face. It reminded me of that day at the mall when we bought socks. Only this time it wasn't the socks fault, I made a mental note to kill Frank in his sleep tonight.
Gerard's face was now no more than a centimeter from mine, I felt his hot breath on my face. It smelled of mint and ciggarettes. It smelled good- which is weird, but I don't care. I fought of the urge to just tackle him on the floor and make out with him while everyone else watched. He closed his eyes and I closed mine then something totally unexpected happened. Gerard only kissed my cheek, most definitely not what I imagined, but it was still nice.
He pulled away from me smiling and I thought for sure it was because I was blushing like crazy. Then he sat beside me and started talking.
"I didn't want to make you mad at me for kissing you on the lips," He explained.
I simply nodded, but on the inside I was screaming at him, hoping he'd realize that I wouldn't of been mad. I'd have been the happiest girl on the planet.
"Hey!" Frank protested, "I said kiss her on the lips!"
"No, Frank, you just said kiss her- you didn't say where," He grinned at him, Frank sighed in defeat.

I checked my phone for the time when we finished playing, it was 3 AM and I swear, I still wasn't tired. Maybe it had something to do with taking random sips of Gerard's coffee when I thought he wasn't paying attention. Mikey, Gerard, and I sat on the couch talking amongst eachother. Everyone else had gone to bed.
"No, you, see when we get to Oregon, I'm going to walk about ten miles. That way when we're stuck on this bus again for another day, I'll be too tired to move," Mikey talked animatedly, using his hands, and occasionally having to appologize for almost hitting me upside the head.
"Yeah, yeah, Mikey. We all know you'll do it... in about ten million years," Gerard chuckled. Mikey playfully punched his brothers arm.
That argument went on for almost twenty minutes before I was tired of listening to it.
"Okay, enough!" I held up my hands between the bickering brothers. "Mikey, yes, you'll walk about a million miles so you never have to worry about sitting down again. Gerard, you lose and you should make more coffee because I drank most of yours when you weren't looking," I stated, trying hard to be authoritive. They laughed of course.
"Yeah okay, mom," Gerard teased while he got up to get some more coffee. Mikey and I were left in silence.
"So... Mikers.."
"So... Adds.."
"Are you going to start being a copy cat?" I giggled.
"Are you going to start being a copy cat?" Mikey questioned, matching my giggle.
"That's it, Mikey, as your mother I order you to go to bed," I pointed toward the bunks.
"Why?" He whined.
"You're a naughty boy, now go!" I giggled.
"Fine, fine," He stood up, "I'm tired anyway."
Before I had time to ask him to stay, he was in the bunk room, and I could hear him shuffling around to get into his bed.
"Wow, are you positive you're not our mom in a really, really, convincing disguise?" Gerard joked, sitting down beside me, handing me my own cup of coffee.
"Oh dang, you've blown my cover," I said taking the coffee from him and sipping it carefully. "Thanks, by the way."
"Whatever keeps you away from my coffee," He grinned.
"Lame."
"What?"
"Look, a distraction!" I yelled, pointing behind Gerard.
"What?!" He turned to look behind him. Before he turned around, I had his coffee in my hands and took a long sip of it.
"I said thanks, never said a thing about not stealing a few sips from your cup," I smiled.
"Oh, that was so funny, Addie." He rolled his eyes, "Now can I have my coffee back?"
"Sure, sure," I said as I handed his drink back.
We talked a little bit more, then we got on the subject about his art.
"Do you have any with you?"
"Nothing good, but I can draw you something if you want," He offered.
"Oh no, you don't have to."
"I want to," He reasurred me.
"Alright, watcha gonna draw?"
"Mind if I keep it a surprise?" I raised my brow and cocked my head to the side a bit.
"Um, sure?"
"Sweet, I'll have it done in a day or two," He smiled. "For now, why don't we hit the sack? It's late,"
"Sounds good to me," I tried to repress a yawn. Then failed miserably.
