Senior Prom.

I knew I was going to go. But I figured it would be a good guy friend or just my girlfriends. Never had I imagined it would be with a boyfriend. And not in a million years would I have imagined that boyfriend to be Mr. Joseph Adam Jonas. Despite that never-to-speak-of-again incident during Winter Formal, our relationship is one of fairytales. We've only known each other for a little less than a year , and yet I can't imagine my life without him. For without him, my life would be meaningless. When we talk, or spend time together I would never want the moment to end. Even if we sat in silence, just holding each other, I wouldn't trade those moments for the whole world. And if we were apart I know that when I stare up at the night sky, thinking of him, he's somewhere out there looking at that same sky, thinking of me as well. It's like we have a connection like no other, and I'm beyond grateful for it all.

I looked at the mirror for one last check. My friends and I had gone to have our nails done earlier, as well as our hair. I had mine curled and pulled and held by some bobby pins and a little hairspray. I had done my make up neatly, careful not to make any stray marks. I was on a goal to look my best. I put on a necklace I had gotten for my thirteenth birthday to complement the white strapless dress. I put on my white heels, not too high off the ground so that I wouldn't trip. I put on a coat of lip gloss just as Jessica knocked on the door.

"The guys are here," she shouted.

"Coming!" I replied, opening the door.

"Wow, Joe is going to be blinded by your gorgeousness! I told you the shopping would pay off," she said winking at me.

I grinned,"You really think so?"

"Of course I do! I'm the one that picked out the dress," she replied.

We laughed as we made our towards the stairs.

"Wait, hold on," Jessica said stopping me as we approached the stairs.

"What? Why?" I asked confused.

"Just stay there and I'll make an introduction for you," she said.

"WHAT? Wait-"

She was already on her way downstairs.

"Jessica!" I hissed.

No answer.

"Can I have everyone's attention?" Jessica said clapping her hands.

There was a pause.

"I'd like to present to you my best friend, June Wang," she said.

I rolled my eyes, took a big sigh and walked down stairs. I felt my cheeks grow warm as I felt everyone's stare upon me. I made a note to have a little chat with Jessica later.

"So pretty!!" Alyson shrieked.

Once I looked up and saw Joe looking at me, it was like everyone else in the room diappeared. Like it was just Joe and I. He smiled at me as I approached him.

"You look beautiful," he said.

I smiled back at him,"Thanks."

"Oh! This is for you," he said, as he took out the box that contained a corsage made of white roses.

He removed the corsage from its container and slipped it onto my wrist.

"It's so pretty," I commented, admiring the white blossoms decorated with a small ribbon.

"Well, I thought it should just match the person who wears it," he said grinning.

Smooth.

"Did you practice that line?" I asked.

He laughed," Just a little."

"Well. If you guys are done, I think we should get some pictures in," Jessica interrupted.

I laughed, as I came back to reality. We went outside to take pictures. First a group picture of the three couples that were there: Joe and me, Jessica and Brian, and Chris and Alyson. We then mixed it up with: girls only, then guys, couples, etc. The limo soon arrived at the front of my house as we made our way inside. Our school was hosting the prom at Universal Studios this year, so we decided to book a restaurant nearby. The ride consisted of stories about everyone's trip to Universal Studios, graduation, and stuff like that.

We soon arrived at a restaurant by the name of 'Gindi Thai'.

"Mmm..it smells so good," Alyson said, taking in the aroma of sweet and sour sauce and curry as we walked in.

"And it looks really good too," Chris added.

We made our way to our table and took a seat, girls on one side, boys on the other.

"June, I can't believe you're going to school all the way in London," Brian commented, when our orders arrived.

"I know! Ditching us a million miles away," Jessica said glaring at me.

I laughed,"I'm sorry, Jess. But yeah, I'm soo looking forward to it."

"Maybe you'll develop an accent when you get back," Joe said.

"Yeah and you'll want to drink tea and eat crumpets all the time," Chris added.

We all laughed at his joke.

I admit it. After dwelling in the fun we were having at the moment, I knew I would miss them all so much. Especially being so far away from Joe.

After dinner, we soon arrived at the entrance of Universal Studios. We took pictures at the entrance, where the Universal Studios fountain was before entering the building our school booked. The energy at the prom was amazing. Music blasted as people danced and sang along to the lyrics. Couples were off to the side together, while others took a break and refreshed themselves with soda that was available.

"I'll be right back," Joe told me.

I nodded as I kept my focus on Justin Timberlake's 'Sexy Back'.

After a few minutes Joe made his way through the crowd of juniors and seniors back.

"Where were you?" I asked curiously.

"You'll see," he said winking at me.

"Okay guys, we have a song request. Here's Edwin McCain's 'I'll Be' " the DJ announced.

My eyes grew wide in excitement.

"Shall we?" Joe asked, offering me his hand.

"We shall," I said grinning, as I took his hand.

He pulled me close as I put my arms around his neck, while his were at my waist. We swayed to the music as I rested my head on his chest, listening to his heart beat, and taking in the sweet scent of his cologne. Those five minutes seemed everlasting. I lost myself in his arms, it was as though all was right in the world. The song soon ended as we returned to hip-hop and techno remixes.

"Let's take a walk outside," Joe suggested.

I agreed as we exited the building hand in hand. We were soon greeted by the chill of the evening sky. I shivered a little as the coldness took me by surprise.

"Here," Joe said, taking the jacket part of his tuxedo off and placing on my shoulders.

"What about you?" I asked.

"I'll be fine," he reassured me.

We soon reached a point where it was dark enough to see the stars and moon. I looked up, reminiscing the night we shared our first kiss. It seemed so long ago yet the elements of that moment were still fresh in my memory, the way the moon shone, the cool night breezes, the romance the setting held.

"It's seems like it was just yesterday," I said, expressing my thoughts.

He wrapped his arms around me,"I'm glad I couldn't sleep that night."

I smiled,"I'm going to miss these moments so much, when I get to London."

"Does it help if I told you I booked tickets for us to go this summer?" he whispered.

"You what??" I asked in disbelief.

"Well, we'll be done filming Camp Rock 2 soon and I'll have some time off. So I pulled some strings since we toured there before. And we can spend time together before you have to start school," he explained.

I hugged him tightly,"You're the best."

"I know," he said grinning.

"I love you," I said softly.

He smiled as he lowered his head towards me. Our lips soon met as we kissed to the moment. The moment where everything seemed so perfect. I was once told that a long time ago, it was believed that a kiss would literally unite the sould of two people, because the sprit was said to be carried in one's breath. I thought it was silly, but now I believe fully in it. It's like when we kiss, it isn't our lips that are touching, it's our souls that kiss. Kissing is like drinking salted water, the more you take in the more your thirst grows. We deepened the kiss, feeling as though something has melted inside of me. All my longings, all my dreams and sweet anguish. All the secrets that slept deep within me became awake. Everything was transformed and enchanted. And for once in my life, everything made sense.
