Chapter 6
*Sasuke Profile*
I sat in a chair beside a hospital bed. Maiko was sleeping calming on her back. Her breathing is normal and her heart is steady. This morning her heart for some reason started to break down, the doctor did a surgery and she just needs rest now. They couldn’t find the reason for this but they just say it was all in her head. I was holding her hand; it was icy cold…I just her hand is always icy cold. When I caught her hand when we were on the side of the cliff; I almost let go of her since I was shocked about how cold it was. Little stands of hair fell over her face; her hair was a beautiful snowy white. I couldn’t look at her hair in the sunny light it is just to bright. I saw Maiko’s eyes twitch then slowly opened.
“How do you feel?” Another pair of words slipped through my mouth. She slowly sat up and placed a hand on her head.
“I felt like a horse kicked me in the head” She whined as she rubbed her temple. I felt her hand twitch when she fond out I was hold her hand. If she wanted to pull away she couldn’t because the needles were stuck in this arm. She didn’t try to pull away though she tightens her grip on my hand; when I looked at her, her head was hung low. I was unable to see her face since her hair covered her face.
“Everything alright Maiko?” I tried to make my voice gentle. With my other hand I pushed her hair behind her ear so I could see her face…but it was such a sad face. Her dark and bold green eye’s had faded into a light, cold green. The door was open a little bit and the cat that keeps following her came and sat on the bed beside her.
“Sasuke…” She whispered me name. I waited and she said nothing else…for a while.
“I need your help…” She whispered again. She didn’t look at me she keeps starring down at her lap. The kitten climbed up her lap and starred into her face. A small tear fell down her face, and landed on the kitten’s forehead. I climbed on the bed as well and hugged her from behind. She took a grip on my arm and dug her nails into my arm. I laid my head on her shoulder; her sent was faint she mostly smelled like a hospital.
“What can I do for you?” I asked. She couldn’t speak it was hard for her to breath through her sobbing.
“I want to tell you everything!…” She almost yelled. I wish she would tell me everything all I know was she got hurt when she was a child like me, but I want to help her.
“Shhh…don’t push yourself I’m here for you,” I spoke calmly. My arm was bleeding because of Maiko digging her nail to far in my arm. The kitten moved off Maiko lap because he was getting wet from her tears.
“I wasn’t born from here…I was born in the village hidden in the clouds” tried to speak through her tears…she took a deep breath, her tears only came out one at a time now. I waited for her to catch her breath.
“And my people are being held prisoner!” Her voice was spiked, she sounded like a mouse screaming.
“Your people?” I questioned. She started to shack like she was cold. She stopped and realised my arm; blood was on her nails.
“I’m…the only one left of my family…I’m the daughter of the king” She spoke slowly…Holey Shit! She is a princess! I couldn’t move and I didn’t want to I refused to let go of her. I understand now why she couldn’t tell me this, but I wonder why she says it now? I wanted to say something to cheer her up but what do I say? Naruto came barging in through the door.
“Hey what are you doing here?” Naruto yelled at me and he pointed a finger at me as well. I shook my head.
“Naruto not now” I whispered. Naruto’s angry face turned into a worried face when he saw small tears fall down Maiko face.
“Maiko…?” Naruto spoke as he inched closer. Naruto sat on the chair that I once was in. We all sat still and very quiet no one dared to move or speak worried we might do something wrong. I heard my name was being called, it was faint then it grow louder. I her someone gasp, I look out the corner of my eye to see Sakura with wined eyes and her hands over her mouth.
“Sasuke…wha?…you?…” Sakura said raider confused. I closed my eyes and pretended she wasn’t there.
“What are you doing!” She almost yelled. Naruto to my surprise stood up and walk over to Sakura.
“Follow me Sakura I’ll explain” Naruto walked out the room, after a few minutes she left to follow him. Maiko was starting to get uncomfortable. I leaned back on the wall behind me, and I laid Maiko’s head on my lap as she slowly started to drift off to sleep. Her lips caught my eye; they were nicely pricked and looked very smooth. Her lips were a little dry from her breathing on them. It was very tempting; I bend over a bit so I could slowly lean in. There was a knock on the door and I sat up right away leaning back on the wall. It was Kakashi this time, his eye looked lazy he could barley keep it open.
“How is she?” Kakashi took some steps forward so he could put a hand on her forehead. I shrugged my shoulders and looked back down at her.
“She healthy but in pain…” I spoke as a whisper I was afraid to wake her up. Kakashi withdrawn his hand and placed them in his pockets.
“The Hokoga told me about her past everything…” The Hokoga knew about her past?
“I know to she told me…” I drifted off again. My eyes were still placed on her soft face.
“Oh so she can talk?” Kakashi sounded surprised. A smile fell across my face.
“That’s what I said” In the corner of my eye I saw Kakashi at the door.
“You get some rest to” He spoke before he disappeared around the corner. The kitten purred as he rubbed against my leg, he laid his head on my leg and looked at me with those big blue eyes. I pet the kittens head then laid my hand on the bed, I was tired I didn’t get any sleep last night I was to busy watching over Maiko.
*Maiko Profile*
A warm feeling hit me and it spread out through my body. I could stay like this forever…my pillow felt different some how. My eyes flittered open to see a white ceiling of a room of the hospital. I fond out I wasn’t even close to the pillows I was laying on someone’s legs. I tilted my head back a little to see the owner of these legs…no surprise it was Sasuke. He has grown into a good friend of mine in these last couple of days. I slowly lift up my head being careful I do not wake him up. I slid out of bed; I place the blanket over him before I left. I saw Choji walking towards me with a bag of chips in his hands.
“Oh hey Maiko!” He spoke through bits. I waved to him with a sweet smile on my face.
“Say Maiko are you busy?” I shook my head to tell him no. Through the crumbs that fell out of his mouth I saw a smile placed on his lips.
“Great my teacher wanted me to ask you if you wanted to come with use on a mission?” I shook my head intensely saying oh yeah! I followed Choji back to where his team was.
“Oh so you decided to join us wonderful” There teacher Asuma spoke. With out another word we walked out the front gate, I wasn’t sure where we were going but I was glad to get out of that village again. This team is ok, Choji always eat everything but I guess he was built for that. Shikamaru had his hands in his pockets being lazy again; I’m a pretty close friend with him as well. Ino is ok at times but if you dare to look at Sasuke she goes all crazy I find that kinda funny. There teacher smokes so I don’t really hang with him, even right now I’m at the back of the group away from him, does he know what those things can do to you? Oh well I just can’t wait to see what happens next.
