Speaks Her Mind - Chapter 1
Chapter 7 : Speaks Her Mind - Chapter 7
So this chapter is actually really short, but I felt it ended kind of nicely where it does. Sorry! Anyway, as always, please rate and message! Song link -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7w_Wzc_uOag. Thanks for reading!
Just as I’m about to make a giant leap for mankind, in terms of my relationship with William, we pull into the driveway of my aunt and uncle’s house. "Too bad." William says, and I think I see the hint of a smile on his lips, a slight twinkle in his eyes. Then again, it could be a trick of the light. "Yeah. Maybe some other time." I say, but muttering under my breath, "I’ll get you William Stewart." Inside the house my aunt is bustling about fretting over whatever she’s cooking. Everything looks great. The lights in the dining room are dimmed, creating a romantic and elegant atmosphere. Uncle Glen is lighting the candles. The table is set with what I assume is their good china, and the cutlery is placed on alternating blue and white napkins. "Wow. It looks great." "You think so?" I nod my head. I don’t know what it is but something smells really good. "What are we having for dinner?" "Well, I’ve made Thyme-Baked Chicken with roasted veggies and rice for the adults, and chicken with barbecue sauce, and salad for the kids." "Mmm, sounds good to me. What are the sugar, oats, and nutmeg for?" "That is all for the dessert. I’m making an Apple Crisp." "Yum. My mom used to make that all the time." "Aw, well that’s nice. You can help if you like?" Aunt Lynn responds. I spend the next fifteen minutes peeling apples and mixing ingredients, then I put the crisp into the oven to bake for half an hour. As soon as it starts to bake the smell of cinnamon surrounds the kitchen with all its lusciousness. "Thanks for helping out Mac." Uncle Glen gives me a high five. Told you he was dorky. "Not a problem." I answer. "Happy to help. Who are these Cordero’s anyway?" The doorbell rings. "You’re about to find out." Says Uncle Glen.
