Character Info:
Name: Isobel (Izzy) Kiln
Age: 15
Looks:
isobel.jpg

She walked along the narrow road path, hands stuck in her pocket, eyes closed. Yes, it was dark, almost midnight, but she did not care. Demin trousers. White boots. Blue tank top. Yes, this was her look, and her look only. No one copied her, as they were afraid she would do something to them. Her name? Isobel Kiln. She was a pure white hedgehog with blue stripes, 15, alone on a strange planet named Earth.

Total badass girl. That is what she had been named. Her unfazed look when presented in danger. Her piercing glare whenever she was annoyed. Too complete the bad girl look, she carried two guns with her. People and mobians alike thought she was out to harm everyone and everything...but that was not the case.
Isobel, known very well to anyone who knew her well as Izzy, was not an evil hearted being. She carried a bad girl look with the attitude, but she had a good heart. She would never hurt a single being, not a single bad bone in her body. The only thing she never did; cry. "Big girls don't cry," she muttered, walking along the dark street.
A rustle to her left drew her piercing green eyes to glare in the direction. She glared more when she saw something moving in the darkness, only to frown when she heard a quiet whimper. Slowly and cautiously, she walked towards the figure in the dark, her hands ready to grab her guns if necessary. She stopped when she heard crying. "Who's there?" she asked, sounding more harsh than intended.
"Pl-please d-don't hurt m-me!" came a quiet voice, making her frown more. Isobel moved towards the quivering voice, and now trembling figure. She knelt down beside it, in hope of getting a better look. A small rabbit huddled there, holding something close to her body. "Please, l-leave me alone!"
Isobel stood up, still frowning at the frightened rabbit. "I won't hurt you." She held out a hand, tilting her head on the side while looking at the rabbit. "I'm here to help."
The rabbit looked up at her with watery eyes, seeing nothing but truth in Isobel's eyes. Slowly, she took her hand, trembling still. Isobel pulled the rabbit to her feet. The rabbit wiped her eyes, then smiled shyly at Isobel. "Th-thank you, miss..."
"Why were you hiding down here? Why're you all alone at this time of night?" Isobel asked, kneeling to the rabbit's height.
The rabbit looked fearful again, looking around the alleyway. "I c-can't tell you! Pl-please, save m-me from h-him!"
Isobel frowned, putting her hands on the small rabbit's shoulders, making her look at her. "Please, tell me. Who is this 'him'? Why would I need to save you from him?"
"I-if he f-finds me...he'll k-kill m-me! Please!" she cried, burying her head into Isobel's chest.
Isobel cuddled the frightened rabbit, frowning as she looked at her. Save her? From who? "C'mon, lets get out this alleyway-" She stopped suddenly, hearing another rustle, but this time, to the front of the alleyway. She snapped her head around, glaring through blue eyes at the figure stood there. "Who're you?"
The figure chuckled darkly, walking towards both of the females. "I found you, weakling."
The rabbit's eyes widen fearfully, and she hides behind Isobel, "Please! D-don't let him hurt me!"
Isobel's gaze remains firmly on the approaching danger as she held the rabbit tighter. The figure stopped, then growled at Isobel. "I suggest you let that rabbit go, girl."
"I suggest you get lost, loser," Isobel snapped back, not showing any emotion.
The figure growled in annoyance, finally stepping into the light. A black hedgehog with red stripes. His bright red eyes glared into her blue ones. "Don't cross me girl. I won't hesitate to kill you to get to her."
"I dare you to try anything, see what you get," Isobel said coldly, glaring at the new enemy.

The black hedgehog sighed, disappearing on the spot. Isobel's eyes widened slightly before she sensed someone behind her and the rabbit. She quickly spun on the spot, taking the rabbit with her and blocking a hard kick with one of her guns. She glared at the red eyed male. "Don't make me warn you again, loser."
The dark hedgehog growled, spinning quickly on the spot. Isobel felt herself being dragged towards the dark tornado. She jumped backwards, with the rabbit, and landed at a dead end in the alleyway. "Damn!" she cursed, only to feel eyes upon her. She spun on the spot, putting her arms out protectively in front of the rabbit. "Leave her alone!"
The hedgehog growled again. "Get out my way, girl!"
"I'd like to see you make me," she snapped, glaring more at the hedgehog.
"Fine, as you wish, fool," he snarled, moving faster than what she could follow.
Before she could block, a fist punched her in the gut, making her double over and cough. An elbow came to the back of her head, knocking her to the floor. She fell to the floor, not letting out a sound as she hit the hard ground. A foot kicked her in the head, knocking her out completely. The small rabbit ran to her side, crying again. "No! Miss! Are y-you okay?"
The dark hedgehog walked up to the small rabbit, taking her roughly by the arm. "You're coming with me, girl. Foolish to run away like that. You knew you'd be caught in the end."
The rabbit started crying more, looking at Isobel. "Please, don't leave her!"
The hedgehog stopped, looking at the rabbit. He then looked back at the unconscious girl. He sighed. "I don't have time for this-"
"Please! Please, t-take h-her with us! I promise to be good!" she pleaded, trying to get back to Isobel.
The dark hedgehog sighed again, turning back to the other girl. He went over and picked her up, putting her over his shoulder. He then looked at the frightened rabbit, then at the other girl, and sighed once more. "The Doctor's going to explode about this..."

Isobel groaned, rubbing her head in a spot where it hurt the most. "Wh...what happened?"
A small voice to her left startled her. "Miss, are you okay!?"
She looked to her left, seeing the small rabbit kneeling next to her. "Oh, it's you again. I'm fine, how're you? Where are we?"
The rabbit smiled sadly, "I'm so sorry, Miss. But, he found me. He brought me back here, as well as you after hurting you. I've been tending to your wounds, I hope I did an okay job, Miss. After all, this is all my fault."
Isobel shook her head, smiling softly. "No, don't worry, little one. This isn't you fault. I decided to fight him, not you. So...cheer up, okay?" The small rabbit smiled at her happily. "Oh, by the way, I'm Isobel, or Izzy. Please, stop calling me Miss."
The small rabbit nodded. "Okay, Izzy. Thank you for trying to save me. You're a very nice girl."

Isobel nodded, smiling. "Of course. I wouldn't leave you to fend for yourself. What's your name, anyway?"
"Oh, how rude of me! My name's Lily. Pleased to meet you, Izzy."
Isobel smiled at Lily, ruffling the young rabbits head. "Nice to meet you too, squirt. So, where are we again?"
Lily's smile faded, her eyes dropping to the floor. "I'm sorry, Izzy, but we are both prisoners to him."
Isobel frowned, looking at Lily in the eyes. "Please, Lily, tell me who this 'him' is."
Lily gulped, fear consuming her eyes. "H-he is the d-dark h-hedgehog, Izzy, k-known to e-everyone as Sh-Shadow the Hedgehog. H-he is r-really sc-scary, Izzy."
Isobel thought deeply about this 'Shadow'. Was he the one in the alleyway when she was protecting Lily? Yes, he was. Dark in colour, apart from his eyes. Blazing red eyes with an intimidating stare. She frowned, looking back at Lily. "What does he want with you?"
Lily sighed, smiling sadly too. "I had a chaos emerald, Izzy. He wants all the chaos emeralds to take his revenge on this planet."
Isobel looked alarmed at the young rabbit. Before she could say anything, a door came sliding open, drawing both females attentions to it. Stood in the doorway was the dark hedgehog from the previous night. Lily backed away from him, hiding behind Isobel. Isobel looked at Lily, then back to the door. This must be Shadow.
'Shadow' looked around the room, his gaze resting on Isobel lastly. "You're awake."
"Obviously," she said coldly, glaring at the hedgehog, but not showing any emotion. "Why am I here?"
He ignored the fact that she spoke and looked at the rabbit behind Isobel. "You. Give me the chaos emerald."
Lily looked scared, then yelled from behind Isobel, "I don't have it! I lost it!"
'Shadow' scowled, folding his arms. "Don't mess with me, girl."
"She's telling the truth," Isobel snapped, her glare intensifying. "You might want to tell me why I'm here now."
'Shadow' turned his gaze to her glare, countering it with one of his own. "You might want to shut up if you want to stay alive, girl."
"The name's Isobel, Isobel Kiln, get it right," she said coldly, not the least bit intimidated by the hedgehog. "I know you. Shadow the Hedgehog. But, I don't really care about you at this moment in time. What I want to know is why you brought me and Lily here, and when we're getting out of here."
Shadow sighed, rubbing his forehead. "I don't know why the Doctor wanted to keep you both here, I would've killed you the other night if it was my choice." Lily whimpered from behind Isobel, grabbing hold of her arm tight. She tried to comfort the young rabbit the best she could while keeping her eye on Shadow. "But I'll tell you one thing, girl, you misbehave in anyway, try to escape etc, I will hunt you down and kill you, slow and painful. You got that?"
Isobel's eyes narrowed. "Yeah, I 'got that'. Now get lost. That's all I wanted to know."
Shadow scowled, moving at such a speed Isobel could not follow his movements. She found herself coughing from a blow to her stomach, making her double over from the pain. A second later, something came down hard on her back, making her cry out in pain and she fell to the floor, panting lightly. Next a voice whispered in her ear, "Learn some respect girl. I'll be the end of you if you cross me. Remember that."
With that, he got off the white hedgehog and stormed out the room. Lily, who was cowering in a corner, rushed up to Isobel's side, helping her to sit up. "He didn't hurt you too badly, did he?" Isobel shook her head, giving the girl a faint smile. Lily's eyes brimmed with tears. "Izzy, I'm so sorry! This is all my fault. Shadow wouldn't've took you if you didn't stand up for me! We're never going to get out of here, I'm so sorry!"
Isobel sighed, putting her arms around the younger female. "Don't cry, Lily. We'll make it through this, I swear..." Lily cried into her chest, and to tell you the truth, Isobel was trying not to let her emotions take control. If she did, she would cry too. But...she doesn't cry, she never has... "And I won't start now! Don't worry, Lily, we'll make it though this together...I promise."

A Few Months Later...

"Izzy! Izzy, help me! He's trying to kill me again!" Lily screamed, waking a sleeping Isobel.
Isobel shot up from her bed, grabbing Lily by her wrist and ran out her room and down the hall. She ran at full speed, knowing how fast their chaser was. They turned down a corridor, hiding in a room on the right. "Quick, in there!" Isobel whispered as they both jumped into a closet, closing the door behind them. "Be really quiet! We can't let him find us!"
Lily nodded, her eyes wide. "Okay!"
The door to the room came slamming open, a figure stood in the way of the light, casting a shadow on the dark room. "I know you're in here." He smirked as he heard shuffling from the closet. "Foolish females..."
He walked over to the closet, stopping just by the door. He grabbed the handle and pulled the door hard, nearly breaking it off its hinges. Inside, he finds Isobel staring at him. He frowned slightly, turning into a smirk as he saw ears behind her back. "Move."
"No," she said firmly, a hint of a smirk on her face.
"Move before I make you."
"I'd like to see you try it, Shadow. You're not so high and mighty, are you?" she smirked, raising an eyebrow as though daring him to try anything. "I'm not moving."
"Then I'll make you," he hissed, grabbing the white hedgehog firmly around her waist and throwing her over his shoulder. She yelled in shock and frustration. "Foolish girl..." Shadow whispered, looking at Lily, who had wide eyes.
"...AHHH!!" Lily yelled, jumping on Shadow and tackling him to the floor. Over the past few months, she and Isobel have been training, and Lily has improved much. He released his grip on Isobel and she jumped off him, before turning and jumping on top of him, helping Lily to pin him down. "We gottcha!" Lily smiled smugly, then giggled. "You lose Shadow!"
Shadow growled, sending a blast of energy from his body, catching Lily and Isobel in it. They both hung immobile in mid-air while Shadow got to his feet. "Pesky females...I do believe, I win," he smirked, folding his arms.
Lily scowled at Shadow, then said, "Only because you cheated! Cheater!"
He raised an eyebrow as both females fell to the floor. "Ouch!"
Lily jumped to her feet, tackling Shadow again. Shadow managed to remain on his feet, grabbing the younger female by her ankles, holding her upside-down. "Foolish rabbit..." he smirked.
Lily growled, fists going a hundred miles an hour as she tried to hit Shadow, but was only able to hit thin air. He sighed, then smirked, "It's over now, Lily. You're mine!"
Lily's eyes widened more as Shadow started to tickle the younger female. Lily laughed helplessly, noticing Isobel sneaking up behind Shadow. Isobel jumped on Shadow, making them all fall over again. This time, silence, then laughter, from all three. They all sat up, Lily beside Shadow and Isobel, who were both still laughing. Isobel looked at Shadow and stopped laughing, smiling instead. Shadow looked at the female, and smiled back slightly. Lily smiled at the both of them. "Aww, you guys used to fight all the time and now look at you!"
Puzzled, both Shadow and Isobel look at Lily. "What d'you mean 'now look at you'?"
Lily looked at Isobel, and smiled more. "You're both acting like you love each other!" She then gasped as they both still looked confused. "Are you girlfriend and boyfriend!?"
Shadow's face went like this O.O while Isobel was something like -_-'''. "No! We're not together Lily! Don't be silly."
Lily sighed, smiling sadly. "Oh well...Izzy, I'm tired, I want to go to bed, will you tuck me in?" Isobel smiled at the rabbit, nodding. "Of course. Come on, Lily. Bed time."
Isobel took Lily's hand, directing her from the room, down the corridor and into her own room. Lily laid down in her bed, Isobel put the covers over her and said, "Goodnight, Lily."
Lily smiled sleepily before saying, "Goodnight Izzy and Shadow," and falling soundlessly asleep.
Isobel smiled, then turned to see Shadow leaning against the door, watching her with those bright red eyes of his. She smiled at him, but noticed something different from before. He stomach seemed too tight, and she was finding it harder and harder to breath. Shadow noticed too. "Izzy, are you okay?"
"I...don't know...I feel...faint..." she muttered before her knees buckled before her, Shadow darting out to catch her before she hit the ground.
He sighed, picking her up gently and taking her to her room, lying her body down on her bed. He smiled at how peaceful she looked when she was asleep. "Heh, Lily thought we were together...foolish girl..."
No matter how much he tried to deny it though, Shadow had grown feelings for the white hedgehog over the past months, and was hoping she felt the same way. However, he could not tell her, or ask her to love him in return right then, as he was keeping a secret from her. "Izzy, I'm sorry..." he whispered, leaning over and kissing her gently on the lips. "I hope you forgive me..."
With that, he left the room, nothing but a cold aura left from his presence.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Isobel woke with a start, a cold shiver ran through her body. "What the heck was that...?" She shivered again, before getting up slowly, remembering the previous night. "Wonder what happened...? I'll ask Shadow when I find him."
She got out of bed, and set off in search of the black hedgehog. But, Shadow was nowhere to be fount. Frowning, Isobel set off at a run to find Lily and ask her about Shadow's disappearance. She found Lily in her room, looking sadder than usual. "Lily...are you okay?"
Isobel frowned when she heard sobbing. Lily looked up at Isobel, tears sliding down her cheeks. "I'm sorry, Izzy..."
"Lily, what is it? Have you seen Shadow? Why're you crying?"
"So sorry...he made me promise not to tell you Izzy," she cried, covering her face with her hands.
Isobel, now past worried, pried her hands away from her face, looking into her eyes. "Lily, what's happened? What did you promise with Shadow? Tell me, please!"
Lily looked down at her feet before whispering, "He's gone, Izzy. Shadow's gone."
Isobel frowned again, letting go of Lily. "What d'you mean...gone? Lily?"
"He left last night, Izzy. He's left on a mission...but..."
Silence, then, "But what Lily. Please, tell me!"
"I don't know if he'll be coming back, Izzy...that's why he made me promise not to tell you," Lily cried harder, covering her face again.
Isobel kneeled there, then jumped to her feet. "No! You're lying!" She ran to Shadow's room, barging through the door and turned the light on. No one there. Some of his things have been packed. Isobel slumped on his bed, her gaze on the floor. "He really has left...after what he promised...that he'd never leave us...he's gone..."
She yelled out in rage, grabbing the thing nearest to her and throwing it against the wall. Hard. Crash. She winced at the sound and saw that she threw his alarm clock. She then looked back to his nightstand, and frowned. There was an envelope. She moved closer. Her name was wrote on the front. "Huh? ...A note...from Shadow...?"
She picked it up, opened it and began to read the writing on the paper.

Izzy,

Please, don't be angry at me. I was going to tell you but didn't know how. I didn't want you to be upset.

"Oh, and I'm not upset now?!" she screamed at the paper, but continued to read it, her eyes prickling.

I have to leave on a mission. But, this is no normal mission, I'm travelling the universe in search of the final chaos emeralds. That's why I didn't tell you, I don't know how long I'm going to be away for...or whether I'll ever make it back.

"That's supposed to make me feel any better?" she grunted, screwing up the paper, and threw it against the wall. "You leave me then apologise. Shadow, I hate you!" She then remembered there was more writing on the paper. "I don't care! .....But, I'll look anyway." She picked up the paper and began to read the rest of the letter.

Please, don't be sad. If anything, be angry at me, but never sad. Don't cry either. There's no need. I just have one more important thing to say before I go. I'll miss you, Izzy. I can't stop thinking about you. You're in my head all the time, no matter what I do. I'm glad I ran into you that day in the alley, I'm glad we met. What I'm trying to say is...I think I'm in love with you, Izzy, and I never wanted to leave you.

Whether you believe me of not, I love you. And I made you one last promise, Izzy. I swear to you, no matter how long or where, I shall find you if I still breath. I shall never leave you, and I will return to you when my mission is complete and I am still alive.

I love you Isobel Kiln. I only hope you return my feelings. Wait for me.

Shadow

"He...he...he loves me..." she whispered, putting a hand to her mouth. "And...told me not to cry...I don't cry...not even over some stupid hedgehog who I happen to love more than anything." She walked to his window, the sun setting into the horizon. "Yes Shadow, I'll wait for you...just hurry back..." She felt someone take her hand. Looking down, she saw Lily smiling sadly up at her. She looked back out to the sun. "I'll wait forever if I have to...Shadow, my love..."

Now, our story of Isobel, Lily and Shadow does not end here. Oh no. Not yet. Isobel and Lily waited for Shadow's return. They would wait for ever if they needed to. Four years past. Isobel grew older, as well as young Lily. Lily grew into a 16 year old, tough and strong with a determination bigger than anyone’s Isobel had seen. But, under all that tough exterior, she was the kindest rabbit you could ever meet. She went out of her way to help anyone and everyone.
Isobel grew. She grew up into a 19 year old, extremely protective over Lily, looking out for her and caring for her. She still carried her 'bad girl' look and attitude, but still, there was no single bad bone in her body. She cared for Lily, watching her grow and mature, but they still was missing one family member. To this day, they are still waiting.
"Izzy! Izzy! Come here, quick!" Lily yells, making Isobel jump a mile in the air while trying to make some cookies.
"Hang on, Lily! I'm on my way!" she yells back, charging from the kitchen to Lily's room. "What-? ...What's up?"
Lily looks at Isobel, obviously frustrated, with a massive pile of clothes on the floor. "Izzy, I need help! Kyo's gonna be here any minute and I haven't got anything to wear! HELP!!"
"Okay, okay, calm down, Lily," Isobel says, pondering. "...Why don't you borrow my black dress?"
Lily stops in her tracks, looking at Isobel. "...You serious Izzy? Isn't that what Sha-?"
"I want you to wear it," Isobel smiles, walking to her room. She fishes out that black dress, and gives it to Lily who is stood in the doorway. "Here."
"...You totally sure, Izzy?" Lily asks, frowning. Isobel nods, smiling still. "Oh wow! Thanks Izzy! You're the best!"
Lily rushes off to get changed. Ten minutes later, a knock comes to the front door. Lily screams silently, making sure everything is perfect. Isobel shakes her head at her, grabbing her shoulder, "You look amazing, trust me."
Lily nods, smiling. She gives Isobel a tight hug. "Thanks so much Izzy. I don't know what I'd do without you!"
Isobel smiles, hugging back, then scowls, pushing Lily towards the door. The door open and there stands Kyo Fox, her date. "Back by 10!" Isobel growls.
Lily rolls her eyes. "Of course! ...How bout 12?"
"11!"
"Deal! Later Izzy!" she calls, running down the path to Kyo's bike.
Isobel smiles and closes the door, a scent catching her nose. "Oh! The cookies!!" She charges back to the kitchen to see smoke coming from the oven. "Crap!" Opening the oven and more smoke chokes her slightly. She grabs the tray of cookies, putting them on the side and opens the kitchen window to let the smoke leave. She goes back to the cookies, sighing as she sees how black they now are. "Aww...they were going so well as well..."
She sighs, chucking them in the bin, and goes out to the balcony, closing the door behind her. she leans against the railing, watching the sunset. She sits on a chair, resting her head, slowly falling asleep watching the sun.
Isobel wakes with a start. It's dark now. She blinks a few times, then runs inside, running to Lily's room. She pushes the door open, and smiles when she sees her sleeping soundlessly. She smiles to herself again, taking a slow walk back to the balcony. As she closes the door behind her, a shiver races up her spine.
Slowly, she jumps around, ready for a fight. Nothing. Silence. She sighs, then frowns as she sees something on her chair; a white tulip. "My favourite flower...but only he knows that...it couldn't be..." she whispers, her eyes widening. She runs to the edge of the balcony, leaning on the railing and looking out to the rising sun in the distance. "I know you're here! I know you're back! Just come and show yourself! We've been waiting long enough!"
No response. She feels herself getting choked up, but closes her eyes tight to stop anything from falling from them. "Big girls don't cry..."
"...You got that right, Izzy."
Her eyes snap open, bright blue glistening in the light of the sunrise. She turns on the spot slowly, seeing a figure at the other end of the balcony, holding another white tulip. "You...you're back..." she whispered, a small smile on her face.
Bright, ruby red eyes look into her own and a smile crosses his face as Isobel runs and hugs him tight. He hugs her back and whispers, "I know. I promised I would be...I never break my promises..."
