Chapter 6 : {6} I bought a Vampire from an Auction ° What have i Gotten Myself into!
please message, it is important to me.
Spider Monkey
And there they were their faces could very well have been painted in the Sistine chapel.
That's the irony of vampires. By their looks, they could bass as angels but were the exact opposite. They were the darkness, creatures sustained by blood.
They looked at me expectantly.
"You look good" I told both of them nonchalantly.
Alexandre raised an eyebrow, I don't know if in a surprised way or in a 'just look good?' way but I ignored it.
I had to admit to myself that they looked unbelievable beautiful in normal clothes, not that they looked that bad in the rags. Vampires have this talent of looking good in almost anything.
But it didn't affect me, at least not as much as the other teenager girls I know, not since that day.
"Please follow me. My parents wish to meet you" or examine you, I thought.
We walked to the other side of the house. Where our private family rooms were located.
Peter, the butler, was waiting outside the decorated wood doors that lead to the living room. He opened the door, led us in and introduced us.
"Miss Emily and the slaves are here" Well isn't that a nice introduction, even though Alexandre was behind me I could almost see his eye twitching at the words "slave".
The room was cozy. It was made out of wood, with lots of old books and a fireplace. This was my favorite place of this cold mansion, well the second best...
My parents were sitting by the fire. My mom was drinking tea and my dad his cognac. I smiled, this was the typical way my parents spend the afternoon when they are taking a break from work. Its too bad they don't take breaks often but I understand how important is their work, I am not very sure what it is exactly but it is something about keeping vampires in control.
My mom turned to me and smiled. Tonight she was in mother mode. No my mom is not bipolar but sometimes she is...different. She has three different ways of being:
1. Workaholic: Just when there is a situation that is being really problematic like vampires escaping, vampire pets/slaves hurting their masters. I know pet is a very harsh word but that's how some humans call and treat like vampires. The workaholic mode was fine by me, it was just for a while and she spent it mostly in her office and going out to the place of problem.
2. Lady of society: Oh, how I dread this one. This mode is her official mode and the one she uses the most. This mode I do have a problem with, she insists she will turn me into a proper lady. Most of my mornings and afternoons are spent with her or my French governess learning lady etiquette.
Too bad I do have the time to learn. I don't go to school, I have private tutors. My parents were paranoid and overprotective of me and I don't blame them, being powerful creates powerful enemies.
3. Mother: This is the one I love. This is mostly when we are in private. It is like before we were important, before we were rich when it was only us.
I turned my attention to my father. He wasn't looking at me but at Alexandre, inspecting him with an emotionless face. He nodded a little in approval and noticing Zara behind Alexandre he raised his eyebrows and for the first time looked at me.
"Two?"
"Um... yes" I stuttered, he sighed.
"Its, alright" he said dismissively "lets go and have lunch"
"Peter, please take the slaves to the servants wing" my mom said standing up too.
Alexandre went stiff at the word slave but no one else seemed to notice. I looked at him warningly.
"So how was your day princess" my mom said kindly while we sat at the table waiting for the dinner to be served.
"Mother, I would really appreciate if you didn't call me that"
"Nonsense, everyone calls you that and it suits you"
The human princess. Yes that was my universal nickname but I am absolutely no princess and anyone who knew the definition of princess would know that.
Princess
-noun
1. A nonreigning female member of a royal family.
2. History/Historical. A female sovereign or monarch; queen.
3. The consort/wife of a prince.
4. A woman considered to have the qualities or characteristics of a princess.
Firstly, I am not a member of a royal family; there is no monarchy in our government system though I have to admit that if there was my parents would be the king and queen.
Historical female sovereign? Come on! Do I look that old?
I know no prince and even if I did I would NOT marry him, I've heard enough of their lordly, arrogant, contemptuous, disdainful, vainglorious, presumptuous selves.
Qualities of a princess? Ha! My mom wishes! .I try, I really do but it is so boring and monotonous and I am so hyper all the time, I need to jump, run, climb, ride, and roll. If I am reborn, I'll ask god to make me a Spider Monkey.
Spider Monkey:
These primates are social and gather in groups of up to two- or three-dozen animals. At night, these groups split up into smaller sleeping parties of a half dozen or fewer. Spider monkeys find food in the treetops and feast on nuts, fruits, leaves, bird eggs, and spiders. They can be noisy animals and often communicate with many calls, screeches, barks, and other sounds.
Oh, what a life. I have two words to say 'Hakuna Matata'. Which means 'no worries' in Swahili.
"Emily...Emily?" I looked at my mom grinning about my thoughts.
"Emily would you please pin your hair up, having it down all the time doesn't flatter your face"
I looked at my mom warningly.
"Oh" was all she had to say. The lunch was silent after that.
