The next two classes dragged on and on forever. I just wanted to get to third period to see why he kissed me! ME of all people! He could have anyone he wants! I know for a fact that there are more bi curious, bi sexual, or even just flat out gay boys out there that are more attractive, wealthier, more popular, or all around just not me! Why though why would he…I’m getting ahead of myself, calm down Shawn it was just on the cheek, it means NOTHING, yeah…That kiss…Nothing. Just a pity kiss. Mhh yeah that’s all that it was, just a pity-
“Uhh Mr. Matthews? The bell rang, time for third period.”
“THIRD PERIOD?”
“Yes…Third period…Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah yea I gotta go!” I busted out of that room like there was no tomorrow and ran to the gym. Thank God we didn’t have to dress out today. That may have made this whole situation worse.
My eyes traveled over the room, he wasn’t there yet, but Catie was, so I headed over to her. She was hanging out with some chick I’ve never seen before, but I’m pretty sure Catie will introduce us.
“SHAWN!!!!” She practically knocked over the kid in front of her as she jumped off the bleachers to hug me. “Oh… my… gosh I saw what happened in home room! Talk about EEK! Sorry I didn’t get to talk about it with you earlier. How you holding up? Ooooh, by the way this is Maren, she’s Asian and she’s cool! Weird aye?” She gasped for breath as she ended her last sentence.
“Uh…That was just a pity kiss, so no eek, it’s okay, I’m not phased by it in the least, Hi Maren, I’m glad that you’re finally over you fears of Asians, and I guess it’s weird…For you…Maybe?”
“Ehh hemm…There he is!” she squeaked as she tried to turn me around. I wouldn’t…Couldn’t move I was stuck staring at that new Asian friend of Caties and the wall behind her. “Shawwwwnnn! Turn around!” she hissed.
“AUSTIN!” My eyes widened as the Maren girl jumped up and attacked Austin. I couldn’t help but watch, which caused me to turn around, which caused me to look at Austin, which caused my face to get extremely hot from blushing.
“Oh good you guys already know each other, phew…HEY Maren lets go introduce you too…That kid over there! Come on man!” They left and I stood there, facing Austin, with cheeks that were blazing red.
“Hey Shawn.” God his voice was so smooth…Was I developing a crush on this kid? I don’t think so…I mean I just broke up with Lauren…In a sense. Maybe I need to officially end it with her before I even think of liking someone else. “Shawn…You okay?” Austin was directly in front of me waving his hand in my face.
“OhI’msorry, asCatiesaidearlierI’malittleslowtoday.” Breathing did not take place in saying that sentence. But he smiled as if he knew what I said…Seemed impossible.
“Not slow. Just embarrassed.” He took a hold of my chin “That kiss earlier, not a pity kiss.” I could feel my blood racing and my heart pounding against my rib cage as he brought my face closer to his. “It was a sincere kiss, I am sorry, and you do deserve better then her. Just out of the few short hours that I’ve known you, I already know that you deserved better.” A smile stretched across my face as our faces got closer together. I don’t care that I’m not fully over Lauren, or that the whole class is probably watching, or that I’ve only known this kid for just a few hours. I don’t care anymore. I can feel already that this kid can make me happy, will make me happy, and will never make me unhappy. I decided to close my eyes and let him do the work, let him show me what he felt and let him make me happy on this day that was supposed to be a miserable day for me.
“CLASS! EVERYONE CALM DOWN! WILLIAMS CLASS TO THE LEFT AND PETERSONS CLASS TO THE RIGHT TODAY. GET TO YOUR CLASSES BLEACHERS!” Austin dropped his had immediately, pulled his face away, and turned towards the teacher who was bellowing out directions. I just sighed and headed towards the bleachers to the right.
I knew it was to good to be true.
