"Don't be bloody ridiculous!" I bellowed, wrenching my hands from his. "It’s torture having to endure this stupid thing once a month. Why on earth would I want to pass this curse onto anybody else, least of all you?"

I got to my feet, Sean cowering slightly beneath me.

"Listen, I just can't do it. I'm filled with dread just thinking of the prospect. I wouldn't wish this on anybody, ever."

"I thought that you said being a wolf was alright!" protested Sean.

"The answer is no." I stated. "It always will be. You're not going to change my mind on this, Sean."

"You don't know what it's like." I said darkly. "I do. It's the worst thing I've ever had to endure."

"Wouldn't it be good for you to have company?"

"I had company last night, didn't I?" I complained. "Just because I wasn't in a human form didn't mean that I couldn't understand what you said to me. Sean, listen, no matter what you say, you're not going to change my mind. I'm not saying this to be mean or whatever, it's the fact that I couldn't bear the fact that you'd be suffering with this curse as well."

"I'd be able to take it!" he pleaded. "My pain threshold is at a minimum when I'm with you! Nothing scares me when we're together, and I'll be with you when it happens! You'll be able to help me through this!"

"Sean." I growled. "Pay attention to what I'm about to say. My final answer is still no. You're not going to be able to persuade me to turn you."

He seemed to admit defeat; he nodded grimly and thrust his hands into his pockets unenthusiastically. He looked at me glumly and walked into the kitchen.

"I'll make us some breakfast now, if you want. Do you fancy having a boiled egg?"

Sean said nothing, and took a seat at the table, facing away from me.

"Sean, if you're going to sit about ignoring me and feeling sorry for yourself, then you'll just waste your day. I'm not trying to be unkind by refusing to change you; it's simply the wrong thing to do. I don't want the one I love to be cursed with this too."

He didn't respond.

"Fine, act like a stupid schoolboy. See if I care." I grumbled, and put one egg into a pan that I'd just filled with water.

I ate in silence, sitting opposite Sean who was refusing to look at me. He simply sat there with his arms folded, looking directly down at the table with a scowl on his face.

I sighed dejectedly and closed my eyes for a second before bringing my stuff over to the sink.

"Are you not having something to eat?" I asked, but got no response again. "Fine then, go hungry."

I slammed my plate into the sink angrily, and left Sean alone in the kitchen. I needed time to cool down and I didn't want my anger to get the better of me. I inhaled deeply, counted to ten, and then took my phone from my pocket.

Since Sean was being so stubborn, I decided that my time today was best spent away from him. So I called up Jamie and arranged to meet up with him in town.
