Chapter 6 : Going Through Town
P.O.V. – Hikke
I walked through the town, with Yoko at my side. She was a really good tour-guide, but I could barely concentrate on what she was telling me. Her smell…her hair…her eyes…I couldn’t think about anything but her. When we were going through the market, Yoko took my hand. I looked down at her, and she smiled. I smiled back, enjoying the feeling of her smooth, simple skin against my hand. She pointed out a few booths to me, but I didn’t pay attention. I was having…fun. Yoko smiled, our arms brushing gently. “Hakki?” she said softly. I looked down at her, smiling happily. “Yeah, Yoko?” And when our eyes met, we froze. The world around us seemed to melt away, everything disappearing slowly. Yoko released one of my hands to gently touch my face. I put both my hands on her shoulders, not sure if I wanted to pull her close or push her away…or both. When her hand touched my face, everything was…different. Sharper. I leaned down, my hands sliding down her arms to her waist. I held her against, me, our faces inches apart. She put her free hand, the one that wasn’t on my face, on my chest, her gaze unwavering. I pushed up on her tip-toes, her lips so close to mine…I could feel her breath against my lips. An image popped into my head, and I pushed her away. Yoko looked at me, scared. Her hands fell limply to her sides as she stared at me. I couldn’t look any longer. I turned away from the hurt in her eyes and walked away quickly. “I’m so sorry, Yoko…” I whispered. Hakuruyuu suddenly came to my shoulder. He squealed at me. I gently touched his head, but I felt my heart breaking all over again. I found my way through all of the twisting roads and curvy short-cuts until I finally came to the hotel. Is this how Gojo feels about Mira? I asked myself as I plopped down on one of the beds. I stared up at the ceiling, sighing again. Hakuruyuu jumped on the bed next to me. He squealed, his head cocked to one side. I tapped his head gently, then rolled over on one side. “God…why did I do that?” I asked myself out loud. “Do what?” I jumped 3 feet in the air, landing back on the bed. I looked around the room. Mira was sitting on one of the beds farthest from me. She smiled a crooked smile at me. “How did you get in?” She chuckled. “Without Gojo you mean? Easy. Said I needed to change something.” She shrugged. “But what did you do?” I looked over at her. “Nothing. I was talking about something in my past.” I lied quickly. She shrugged. “Whaaaaaaatever.” She teased. “That waitress isn’t getting to you, is she?” I shook my head quickly. She laughed. “Alright. Whatever. Have fun with your tragic love story, Cho Hakki.” Tragic love story? It couldn’t turn into that, could it? Why would my strange, unrooted, and soon to be gone feelings for Yoko turn into something that obscure? I mean…I wasn’t falling in love with her, was I?
