Ryan Hunter. Kickstart My Heart; ONE

Sitting down on the couch opposite Ryan so I could face him, he leaned backward running his fingers through his hair.

"So, you're pregnant?" He spoke really slowly.

Ever ounce of my body wanted to scream 'of course!' at him, but I bit my tongue, nodding instead. He was more just trying to register everything I had sprung on him.

"And you're having a baby?"

"That's generally what happens." He shot me a look. Definitely not the time for sarcasm. "Sorry" I mumbled.

"You're going to go through with it?"

I nodded again. "I don't have the heart to do otherwise."

He nodded, "You're going to keep it, right? Like adoption-wise?"

I paused for a second. "I haven't really had a chance to think about it yet. I'm not sure yet."

"Oh." He glanced around the room, "And you're sure it's... it's mine?"

I nodded again.

"Now what do we do?"

"I honestly don't know." I could feel my eyes stinging with tears again. I began to furiously rub at the bridge of my nose trying to stop them from coming. Before I knew it, Ryan had stood up and taken a seat next to me, pulling me into his chest. I began to sob as he rubbed my back whispering soothing things into my ear. "Thank you," I mumbled as I pulled away.

He tucked a stray piece of hair behind my ear as I tried to wipe away the tears. "Kate, just remember I'm here, okay?"

I nodded.

"We're going to figure this out and we're going to get through this."

"Thank you." I whispered once again.

He pulled me into another hug, kissing the top of my head. "I still love you, Kate."
