[Jonas] Best Kept A Secret: Prologue [Brothers]
Chapter 8 : [Jonas] Best Kept a Secret: 4 Chasing Cars [Brothers]
Okay...I broke my promise this is another filler. But I had the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol stuck in my head so I thought 'hey, why not?!' so it's in there... =] Just not really a lot though. Enjoy =]
~~Angela’s POV~~ Okay, the Jonas’s are amazing people. I feel so comfortable around everyone. They’re so relaxed and at ease, I forgot who they were! Frankie’s so adorable and really isn’t afraid to say anything. We held probably a ten minute conversation, debating about the most random things. I swear everyone was laughing, but I don’t care. At first, Kevin was being pretty quiet until Nick whispered to me that he was just in “Big Brother” mode and will snap out of it. He was right, after talking we already had a pretty good connection. And he really cares about his family! He’s just the type of person I know I can have a good bond with. And Joe…oh God Joe. He’s hilarious. He’s constantly teasing Corri and I, but it’s like a no-harm teasing. But when he isn’t, he’s so sweet and really cared about what you had to say. And he’s big on giving hugs which is pretty cool if you ask me! Mr. and Mrs. Jonas are probably the coolest parents I’ve ever met. Instead of sitting stiff and just mumbling uncomfortably, they actually participate with conversations. But when my parents finally get home I know they’ll be happy. We were sitting around our kitchen table and Nick decided to tell how we met. Corri was listening intently while I was turning red by the minute. By the time we were done talking my parents were home. They introduced themselves to the Jonas’s, and the parents all started talking. Us “kids” got bored so we went outside. “So, what’cha want to do?” I asked, picking up a baseball, then tossing it down and picking up a badminton racket. Kevin grinned and picked one up as well. “Badminton battle. Guys vs. girls!” Corri giggled, she hasn’t really gotten over that they’re famous. “Okay, BUT we get Frankie. It’s only fair. Besides, he’s probably much better than you guys.” Corri said smugly. “Oh, you guys are so going down now!” Joe answered, narrowing his eyes and swinging his racket back and forth. They sent Frankie forward with us. “Alright!” I cheered, slapping him high-five. We started the game, and they were good. Like, amazing. By the time it was over they beat us, but only by three. Still, Joe’s a sore winner. “Okay, So Angela. WHO has a killer serve?” I groaned, knowing this won’t end. “You do.” “And WHO scored the winning point?” “You did.” “And WHO’s the better player?” “Kevin is.” “That’s righ-HEY!” He scowled and I just smirked. “Knock it off, guys. It‘s not that big of a deal.” Nick said, laughing. He’s just saying that because he won, if not then he would be the sore loser. Ha, baby! :p We went back inside to find my mom cooking. Then Mrs. Jonas came in, insisting she should help. I grinned, glad our families are getting along. “So, which one of you is Nick?” My dad asked, straightening his back and getting into the stereotypical “Dad” mode. Corri raised an eyebrow and whispered, “You have got to be kidding me.” I elbowed her and sent her a quick glare. “I am, sir.” Nick stepped forward and held his hand out for my dad to shake. He shook it, eyeing him closely. “Nice to meet you, Nick. I’m Sen…Mr. Sanchez.” I’m glad my dad caught his Spanish…once he starts it’s hard for him to stop. Nick smiled a little, but I could sense awkward tension. So, this is Joe, Kevin, and Frankie.” I said easing the tension. They each shook hands with my dad, then Corri and I led them downstairs. Joe ran to our TV. “No way!! Now I can beat you in Guitar Hero, too?!” He yelled, picking up a controller. Frankie rolled his eyes, causing me to giggle because he’s just too cute! Kevin scoffed. “Joe. You suck at it. Everyone knows that.” Nick just laughed, staying out of it. Joe stuck his tongue out at Kevin and Corri and I just laughed as well. “I actually want to face Kevin, and then whoever wins that can face anyone else.” Kevin looked surprised, but took my offer. “Okay, what level? I’m on Expert, but we can do medium or easy or whatever you’re on.” I raised an eyebrow, oh so he thinks I’m on easy? It’s so on now! “Ha, yeah okay. I can do Expert. It might be too hard, though.” I said, faking pout then rolling my eyes. Little does he know….It was Guitar Hero three and we agreed on Miss Murder, even though secretly I wanted to play My Name is Jonas just as a joke. Once it started, I went flying through and I think I surprised him. He kept looking over at me, trying not to look un-fazed like I probably did, but I could see it in his face, and I bit my lip to keep from laughing. After the song, he beat me, but just barely! I was panting slightly, but smiling even though he beat me. “Whoa, nice job!” He said, slapping me high-five. “You too, I knew you were good, but not that good!” I giggled, and he smirked. “Okay, who’s playing The Master?” He raised his voice a little and referred to himself. I shook my head, biting my lip again. Corri got up. “I accept the challenge, are you ready to get creamed?” She asked. I groaned, Corri gets way into this. She’s only on Hard, though so Kevin will probably kick her butt. They chose Paint it Black, and Joe was leaning forward, watching intently. Frankie was watching, but his eyes were drooping; I knew he was getting bored. Nick and I just kinda stood back, laughing a little at Corri trying to keep up with Kevin. Then I felt something lightly touch my hand. It tingled a little but I just ignored it. Again I felt it, and this time I knew what it was. He lightly took my hand and leaned closer. I started blushing madly, I’m not used to all of this! “Do you want to go outside?” He whispered, directly in my ear. I nodded, and this time he led me upstairs and past the parents so they wouldn’t ask any questions. We quietly shut the front door and walked down the steps and towards the street. It was sunset, and everything was beautiful. “You’re going to have to show me around, I really don’t know where to take you.” He said this with a laugh. “Aha, alright then! Stay close, It’s easy to get lost here.” I just realized what I said sounded like a really crummy flirt line, and I turned beet red. Well that was a really stupid thing to say…Instead he just gave a small smile. “I will.” With that he laced his fingers with mine and I smiled. So far, everything was perfect. We walked hand in hand down the street, sometimes just for fun running around street lights and parked cars, and laughing every time. Do you know the song Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol? That’s exactly what it felt like, physically. Not literally the song. When cars were driving too slow and looked a little creepy, we would chase them and they would start driving faster. Finally, when I was doubled over in laughter, I collapsed down on a patch of grass near a small meadow. I heard the grass crush next to me. I now got the song stuck in my head. And when I have it stuck, it’s there for a long time. And it’s all starting to make sense. If I lay here I snapped out of it. I couldn’t love him already! It’s only been a week, and I’ve only seen him twice! No, no. It’s just hormones. And…I can’t love him. If I do then he leaves. He’s already leaving in three days. It’s not fair. Damn that song! “Are you okay?” Nick asked, turning his head to me. “Yeah, why?” He shrugged. “You’ve been quiet, that’s all.” I smiled a little. “Well, thank you for caring. I’ve just been thinking.” “About what?” I looked down, not knowing what to say. “A really good song. Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol.” He looked mockingly offended that it wasn’t one by him. I smiled smugly. “And…that’s it? Any other songs…bands…” He trailed off, then grinned at me. “Hmm…nope. That’s it.” I grinned back and he let out a heavy sigh. “Fineee!” I giggled, and shoved his arm a little. “Stop! You’re pretty good, too.” “Why, thank you! I appreciate that.” There was a silence, then he asked me, “Are you any good?” “At what?” I stretched my arms above my head for a few seconds. “You know. Singing, guitar. That stuff.” I sighed, I forgot about that. “I write songs and play the guitar, but I can’t sing for my life.” “Oh, come on. You can’t be that bad. No one is never that bad.” “Trust me, I can’t sing.” “Please? We’re the only ones here.” He had on a teasing smile which convinced me I shouldn’t, but something else told me I should. I stayed quiet for a few minutes, then started very quietly, “Let's waste time “Sorry…I know that sucked. You’re probably deaf now.” I said that with a small laugh. He was staring at me, and it scared me a little. “Angel…that was really good. Your voice is amazing! …I was just waiting for more.” I could see that he was blushing, too. “Okay, you don’t have to lie. I could never sing…and most people know that.” “No, I’m serious. You’re really, really good. I wouldn’t lie to you.” Something in the way he said that convinced me he was telling the truth. “Sure…” I said, leaving it at that. After another five minutes of not really awkward silence, he said, “I think we should get going. Everyone’s probably eating dinner and wondering where we are.” I nodded, and got up. I smoothed my skirt down and we started back towards my house. “Okay, I know this is a little cheesy and all, but…” We were at the doorstep, and he took my hand again. He leaned forward and pecked my cheek. I know it’s nothing but my face went from normal colored to tomato red. I secretly found it sweet that a guy would rather kiss your cheek first than anything else. We went inside to find everyone at the table, just about to start. I gave an apologetic smile, and took a seat next to Nick. We said grace and started to eat, all the while inside I felt like flying.
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel
Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough…
Chasing cars
Around our heads.
I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own.
If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?” There was silence, and I started blushing pink. I knew I shouldn’t have sang, his ears are probably bleeding.
