Old Victorian Medieval Love

A Princess Falling For The NonAverage Prince

Chapter Two

My heart raced as I read the paper over and over again, my eyes getting wider in realization, that my father requests me to be married to man I do not know. I have no choice but to marry him, or I shall be put to death, I’d rather marry a man I don’t know then die, that is just the way of our people. My brother sighed patting my head before walking off, I wonder if that’s why that man Daemion is here. “Brother,” I called to him, peeking my head out the door, his head turned looking back at me. “Yes my dear sister,” he replied. I bit my bottom lip looking down almost in shame, “Do you know who I am to be wed to?” He nodded his head smiling at me, “Yes I do little sister don’t worry he is a good man I have met him several times. A good man indeed.” I smiled small a sadness in my eyes wishing I could marry a man I love, “Who is he brother?” He grinned, “Ah you shall wait and see for tonight, we are having a ball, and he shall be there you shall meet him tonight. Though it is a masquerade, so you will have to wait to see his face.” I nodded and smiled a bit more, having second thoughts on this maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.

It’s time for the party and I’m so nervous my heart is racing so fast its about to burst butterflies fly wildly through my belly. I take one last look in the mirror before I leave and go to the party. My dress is a bluish silver, from my hips it goes into a small train and it puffs out like the other dress from earlier, though the bust was the same, but it is bear back unlike the other one. I have elbow length white gloves my hair put up, its like a pony tail but it wraps around with the free strands of hair curl down to the middle of my back, a few strands of hair falling in my face. My eyes outlined in black my eyes popping, my lips shinning with a bit small gloss, a new thing that was just made though it is unpopular, a bit of blush on my pale cheeks. Sighing softly I make my way down the halls heading down to the ball room where all the noise is, carefully walking down the steps to the basement where the ball room is, but before making my way down I place the silver mask over my face hiding my features from those around me. Walking down smiling at my brother as he grabs my hand leading me down the steps to the isle where he and his queen sit. “Welcome ladies and gentlemen, the princess Nabru has arrived,” my brother boomed calming down the people gaining their full attention. “This is a celebration of…new found love. So those of you who have no date and came alone pick a lady and enjoy the night. Let the ball being,” he laughed the party once again starting off. The orchestra playing its wildly as those around dance gracefully, laughing and giggling, some sitting down at the set up tables kissing and dinning with those they love. My brother whispers to me, “Go have fun dear sister, the man you will soon marry will come to you. He is the man with the black mask on with the silver outline of the eyes. Now go have fun.” Pushing me gently towards the stairs, nodding walking into the dancing crowd, passing them walking into a corner in the back hiding in the shadows watching those dance around me. “Is this seat taken, my lady,” a deep yet soft voice asked, looking up at the black silver outlined mask shaking my head as he sits down. “So you are the man I am to marry,” I ask glancing at him. He smiled nodded his head, “Aye I am that man of who you speak. I hope don’t mind marrying me, I am no prince.” I chuckled softly at him, “I don’t not care if you are a prince or not sir, I wish to know you first before I judge you.” He seemed taken back by it, but smiled never the less, “Come lets leave this place shall we I wish to talk to you in a more private area.” I smiled glad he suggested so nodding my head to him, “Yes of course.”
