"DEAN!!" I let out a desperate cry as I watched my brother slam into a brick wall with a sickening thud.
Dean wasn't one to go down easy, but this demon had caught him completely off guard, easily knocking him right off his feet. My heart was racing as I looked up and down the alleyway, searching feverishly for the demon who had surprised us like this. Unfortunately it had already managed to escape, most of these things were cowards when faced with hunters such as Dean and I.
Hurrying over to my brother's side, I kneeled down beside him and shook his limp body for all it was worth. "Dean," my voice was worried and somewhat shaky. "Dean can you hear me?"
Dean let out a low grunt, muffled by the concrete his face was pressed against. "Did you get the son of a bitch?" He asked as he lifted himself up onto his knees, cringing from pain.
I shook my head, not wanting to see the disappointment I was sure was in his eyes by now. "It disappeared before I even had a chance to react."
To my surprise, Dean simply chuckled as he forced himself back onto his feet. "Don't sound so shocked, Sammy. Most of the son's of bitches are cowards." I watched in shock as Dean rubbed his neck and headed towards his black Chevy Impala parked across the street. He had inherited the car from our dad and it was his number one pride and joy. It was on the top of his most important things in life list, right below family and above hunting and frisky women.
"Dude, where are you going?" I asked, feeling confused. "We have to find this demon and kill it."
"Remember the more important job dad gave us, Sammy?" Dean replied impatiently and continued towards the car.
I shook my head with a heavy sigh. Sometimes it annoyed me the way Dean would jump every time dad told him to. It was almost as if my brother didn't have a mind of his own. But I knew I'd have to follow Dean wherever he led, after all I wanted to be there when we caught and killed the demon who had taken our mom and my girlfriend in the most savage of ways. The pain of the memories began creeping up to surface and I had to work hard to push them back down. Now was no time to get sentimental, we had work to do.

There was a loud crash that sounded like a plate smashing into pieces. Instinctively, my head jerked towards the kitchen where my older sister Jenny was sounding more and more furious by the second.
"They're fighting again," I muttered to my best friend Pete, who was sitting on the couch beside me, deeply concentrated on some old made for TV movie.
Pete glanced over in my direction with a bored expression. "Way to state the obvious."
I rolled my eyes at Pete's ever so charming sarcasm. "Chad never came home last night," I explained. "I think Jen might have finally had enough."
Just as I had finished my sentence, the sliding double doors that led to the kitchen flew open and a furious looking Jenny stormed out. "I can't take this anymore, Chad!" Watching her face, I knew a part of her wanted to burst into tears, but the part that held her pride together was stronger.
Chad, who had followed her looking completely crestfallen, now stood at the kitchen doorway and kept his eyes on the floor. "I'm sorry, baby," he pleaded quietly. "I didn't mean to..."
Jenny rolled her eyes, obviously completely oblivious to the fact that Pete and I were in the room. "I want you out of my house before I get back home."
Chad opened his mouth to speak, but it was too little too late. Jenny had already stormed out, slamming the door shut behind her and leaving the three of us in an awkward silence.
Finally, it was Chad himself who broke it. "I spent the night with my ex." Even though he looked completely miserable as he said this I couldn't bring myself to feel any pity towards him. He had made his own bed and now he'd have to lie in it. "You heard what Jen said," I said coldly, as I returned my gaze toward the TV screen. "You better start packing."

My feet trembled with fury, as I made my way through the woods surrounding our little cabin. I didn't know exactly where I was going nor did I really care. The only thing that filled my mind was Chad's betrayal, how he had lied and manipulated me for two whole years. The man had taken my loyal nature and completely used it against me and I had been too stupid to even see it. A part of me wished I could take back the time spent with him, all the moments shared, but I knew such a thing was impossible. Besides, regretting things never solved anything, it only made you feel even worse. It was over now, this time I was sure of it.
"Miss?" The sudden voice coming from behind almost managed to make me squeal like a little sissy girl. Thankfully I managed to contain myself as I spun around to find myself face to face with a young, shaggy haired man. I let my eyes travel up and down the length of his lean frame, taking in every detail to assess whether he was harmless or not. "What are you doing here all alone?" He asked, with a tone that hinted he was hiding something.
A cold, slow fear began creeping up on me, yet somehow I managed to raise an eyebrow. "I don't see how that's any of your business."
"Hey! Quit harassing the poor girl, Sammy." This second voice was manlier and the tone of his voice cocky. I turned my head towards the voice with a curious gleam in my eye but was completely caught off guard by what I saw. Standing only a few feet away was the most handsome man I had ever laid eyes on. The thick eyelashes brought out the piercing hazel of his eyes, making his full lips stand out perfectly beneath his cute round nose. The man ran a hand through his short sandy hair as he smiled at me.
"You'll have to excuse my brother," he said politely, making a faint blush creep upon my pale cheeks. "He hasn't had much practise with the ladies." Slowly and confidently, the man walked over to where I stood and smiled a dazzling smile. "I'm Dean and this is my brother Sam," he said holding out his hand for me to shake.
"I'm Jenny," I replied shaking both of their hands. "I prefer to be called Jen, though."
Dean nodded as if to say "will do". "So Jen," he began, "what brings you here so late all alone?"
I looked around with a frown. The sky, what little I saw of it through the trees, was turning crimson as the sun was setting. Had I really been walking for that long? "I didn't realize it was so late," I said thoughtfully, "I better head back home."
"Do you live far from here?" Sam asked curiously.
"Uhh, at the end of Old Wicker Road actually," I replied while wondering how I had gotten this far.
Dean shook his head with a concerned look on his face. "It'll be dark long before you get home," he said, "and it's not really safe for anyone to be out alone after dark."
I couldn't help but snort. "You'd be surprised."
The boys exchanged meaningful glances, before turning back towards me. "What do you mean by that?" Dean asked, trying to sound inconspicuous.
"Believe me guys, you'd just think I was insane if I told you."
"What if we told you that we are demon hunters?" Sam asked tentatively
I stared at the boys for a long moment, as my brain was struggling to process what I had just heard. Demon hunters, here in my hometown? Somehow this didn't seem like just a coincidence. "My dad was a hunter," I replied quietly. "He was killed 3 years ago."
"I'm so sorry," Sam said sympathetically. The look in his eyes told me he had experienced as much loss as I had. Grief and pain seemed almost mandatory when you were somehow connected to the darkness in the world.
Out of nowhere, something my dad had told me before he died resurfaced in my mind after being buried for nearly 3 years. "Find the Winchester family," I found myself mumbling.
"What?" Dean gasped sounding shocked.
"That was the last thing my dad ever said to me; "find the Winchester family". I never knew what he meant so I just forgot about it, thinking he was just rambling before death."
"Do you mind if I ask what your dad's name was?" Sam asked.
A look of bewilderment graced my features. "Robert Gordon, why do you ask?"
Sam and Dean exchanged glances. "We're Sam and Dean Winchester," Dean replied. "Our dad sent us to find you, the daughter of Robert Gordon."

"Peeeeeeeete?!" Alana yelled out of the kitchen, "do you want salt or butter on your popcorn?"
I jumped off the couch and walked into the kitchen. "Butter sounds good," I replied leaning towards the counter. "Hey Lana, can I ask you something?"
"Ask away," she replied turning to look at me with a smirk, "but don't expect to get an answer"
"Very funny," I said sarcastically, "I was just wondering if may-" Before I could finish my sentence, I was interrupted by the sound of a car pulling into the driveway. Alana hurried over to the window and peaked out at the gorgeous black 67 Impala.
"I wonder who that could be," she muttered with a frown and turned back to face me. "Friends of yours?"
I looked over her shoulder and shook my head. "Sorry, don't know anyone who drives a car like that."
Alana let out a gasp. "What if it's someone eeevil," she whispered jokingly and chuckled.
I gawked a bit. "What if you are right?"
Alana shook her head as the microwave let out a loud beep, letting us know the popcorn was done. I walked back into the living room and plopped down onto the couch. A heavy sigh escaped my throat, as I wondered if I would ever be able to ask Alana the question that had been burning in my mind for so long. Just then I heard the sound of keys scrambling outside the door and a few seconds later it creaked open. I turned to see Jenny walking in with two young men, both in their twenties standing behind her.
Jenny saw me and opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by a cheery voice and footsteps coming out of the kitchen. "Ok Pete," Alana said, "I've got 2 large bowls of popcorn, but you're not getting any!" She laughed but abruptly stopped as she saw Jenny standing in the hall and the two men behind her. Her eyes locked with the one I had assumed was the younger of the two. He smiled at her, making his hazel eyes sparkle even brighter than before.
A blush crept onto the man's cheeks, making Alana quickly look away as her cheeks grew faintly pink. Jenny, who noticed this, smiled and coughed lightly. "This is Sam," she said gesturing towards the man with the shaggy head of hair, "and this is his brother Dean" She turned to face the brothers and smiled. "The guy over there on the couch is Pete and the girl with the popcorn is my sister Alana"
The man named Dean frowned. "Sister? You don't look like sisters"
Alana smiled and placed the two bowls of popcorn on the coffee table. "You're not the first person to comment on that fact. Jenny looks more like dad's mom and I look more like our mom."
Sam opened his mouth to speak but my jealousy managed to interrupt him. "Are we going to watch the movie or not?" My voice was a bit more impatient than I'd intended to.
Alana gave Sam an apologetic smile and sat down next to me on the couch. "Yes we are," she said, "I just wanted to be polite to our guests"
I felt somewhat ashamed over my jealous behaviour, but decided an apology in front of sasquatch and his smirking brother really wasn't going to happen.
"What movie are you guys watching?" Sam asked curiously.
"The Princess Bride," Alana replied with a smile that told me she was into him. "You can join us if you want to...?"
It took every bit of restraint I had not to object to her invitation. Who did this sasquatch think he was, waltzing in here and trying to steal my Alana?
Sam smiled widely and sat down on the couch beside her. I felt the jealousy creeping up on me like a vicious snake ready to strike. Glaring at Sam I put my arm protectively around Alana's shoulders.
