Dark Moon Morning
Isabella woke up to the scent of the ocean and cologne in her room. It was Makial getting ready for the day. He had the window open and the ocean was near by. Isabella's night dress felt uncomfortable as she sat up and slid off of the bed. Jeez, I hate this thing... she thought as she took it off and put on a nice silk and satin night outfit. It was about 2 in the morning. The moon was still shining in the sky like the only light in a pit of darkness. So beautiful. Especially as it reflected off of the water. She could see dolphins jumping up making twists and loops and then falling back into the deep depths of the ocean. She sat on the stool next to the open window, putting the curtain behind the glass it's self. Thanking Heaven that it opened toward the bed. Makial came out fully dressed. "Ah, so you're awake." He said with a smile. Isabella jumped at the sound of his voice. "*Gasp* You scared me!" She said wide-eyed. "Don't do that!" Makial walked over to her. "I'm sorry..." He kissed her cheek and put his forehead on her shoulder. "I should have waited for you to turn around." He kissed her neck and shoulder and put his arms around her upper chest. "*Sigh..* It's okay, no need to apologize." Isabella held his hand. "You did nothing wrong!"
"You're too sweet, Isabella Black."
"And you're a liar Makial Xavier."
Makial laughed at Isabella's words. He knew she was joking around. He never lied to Isabella, ever. In fact, he was scared to. He could never keep a lie, let alone tell a good one at all. But then again, what did he have to hide? His training taught him to never tell a lie. To always be honest. Besides, Isabella was his girl, he needed her by his side. He loved her more than he needed air. "A liar am I? So I suppose all of those years of training and truth telling were a rip off?" He questioned in between the small little pecks he was giving her on her neck. "Yep." She replied with a noticeable laugh in her voice. "Better get your money back." She turned her head a little, Makial's hand on her cheek. He kissed her gently on the lips. She kissed him back. Then after a few seconds, Makial broke it off. "I have to go, I'll see you tonight." He kissed her quickly again and turned and walked out of the room. "Goodbye." Isabella turned back to the window and watched as Makial walked down the dirt and sand road to the buggy waiting for him outside. His long hair blowing in the wind. "*Sigh...* Even on Saturdays..." She supported her head with her hand, he arm on the window sill.
Isabella stared out the window again, to the dark sky and sea. Waiting for something interesting. I need some sleep... She thought as she watched the ripples in the water making the reflection of the moon distorted and utterly destroyed. She got up and closed the window. "Sleep time." She said. Dragging her self to the messy bed. Hugging Makial's pillows, resting her head on her own. How she wished her "Lover" didn't have to leave so early, or had to leave at all. She saw him through out the day and most of the night, but she wanted him all day and all night. She hugged the pillows tighter. Her long black hair covered her pillows as she nestled her head into Makial's. She closed her eyes and instantly fell asleep...
Isabella woke up again to a slam nearby. A rude awakening considering it was only two hours ago she had said goodbye to Makial. Fuck, what is it now? She slowly dragged out of bed and opened her door. The rooms were now quiet and dark. "Who's there?!" She yelled out somewhat infuriated. She turned on all of her lights. No one was there. But a book did fall off of the table in the foyer. Oh jeez... She thought as she picked up the little red book and put it onto the book rack. Stupid thing, someone must have left it on the table. Then she saw her cat Lilly on the table. "Meorow!" She meowed jumping off of the table. "Oh so it was you Lilly. Why didn't I think of that?" Isabella laughed picking up the small black cat. "Silly kitty." She walked back into her room and sat in bed with Lilly. Petting her head and back as her eyes grew heavy yet again. I need some serious sleep! Isabella let go of Lilly as soon as she started to fuss. "Night night little kitty." She laid back down into the same position and fell asleep...
*Isabella was running through the woods of Asoldale as fast as she could. Tears rolling from her eyes. Makial! She thought as she tried to run from whatever it was chasing her. Her arms were bloody with cuts and her legs were bruised. She saw a tree and thought she could jump into, but just as she was about to jump something lunged at her then...*
Isabella screamed into the dark room. "NO!!!!!!" She was covered in sweat and the blanket was kicked off of her. Her heart was pounding so fast it was as if she had been running for days. rather than just having a nightmare. She had had this dream frequently. And every time it got worse. The night before, she had Makial. But he was killed. But in this version, she didn't have anyone. Isabella had always been afraid of being alone. Which is why she insisted on getting Lilly once she knew that Makial would have to leave home every night. She put her legs against her torso, holding her legs at the knees. She was shaking. She put the black over her. "M-Makial..." She managed to choke out. She wasn't tired anymore. She was too scared to sleep.
She got up and ran to the phone. Dialing the number for Makial's station. "Hello?" She heard him answer. "M-Makial..." She choked. "Isabella? What's wrong? Are you okay? You sound scared! Are you alright?!" He said in shock and concern. "I-I had that dream again..." She choked. "I'll be right over, it turns out they don't need me today." He said in a rushing tone. "Give me an hour." "O-Okay..." Isabella shook. She sat down on the bed holding the phone, even though Makial had hung up already. She could her the annoying sound from the phone. She put it back slowly and sat back on the bed. Then laid down and curled up into a ball, her body still shaking violently. The dream had been so vivid, so seemingly real, she couldn't believe it was a dream. It was more like a vision. A vision of fear and loneliness. A vision of something much worse than whatever the soldiers of Asoldale had to face. This was fear it's self. Staring at her right in the face. She held tight onto Makial's pillows. So tight both hands were touching each of her elbows. "M-Makial..." She started to cry. Her tears rolling down her pale cheeks they started to soak the pillow.
After about an hour she heard the buggy outside. Makial had kept his word. She heard him running through the house to the bedroom. "Isabella!" He shouted, slamming open the door. "Isabella, are you okay?" He held her in his arms. "Calm down, come on just calm down, it's okay, I'm here." He held her tight against him. "Shh...Shh..." He could feel her shaking in his arms. His concern only growing. "My poor Isabella...so fragile..." He said quietly to himself. "M-Makial..." She was still crying. "I'm so scared..."
"I know..." He said holding her tight.
"I took the entire weekend off." He said a little shaky. "I can't leave you alone in this condition. I feel it's my fault for these dreams." Isabella looked up at him. "It-It's not your fault.." She choked. "Nothing is your fault." Finally she fell asleep in his arms again. Makial kissed her lips and held her as she slept. "Shh.." He whispered in her ear. "I'm right here with you." He stayed with her through out the rest of the night. Not even feeling tired.
Later when the sun finally rose, Isabella had woken up. Makial had actually fallen asleep sometime within the four hours that had remained of the dark morning. His head against the wall and his eyes closed. His head off to the side. As if he were looking at something in that general direction. Isabella slowly got up. Sitting on her knees, she put her hand on his cheek, stroking it cautiously, trying not to wake Makial. "Thank you." She whispered. "You're welcome." Makial said still a little groggy. "Did I wake you hun? I'm sorry!" Isabella said in slight shock. "No, no. It's okay." He assured her while straightening himself up. "I didn't want to fall asleep anyway." Makial slid off the bed and straightened himself out. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine now." Isabella smiled. "Thanks for taking care of me."
"It's an obligation of mine. I'm yours and I should take care of you more often." Makial said looking down in what seemed like shame. "No.."Isabella stroked his cheek again. "It's not your obligation you have a choice to take care of me or not." Makial looked down even more. He wanted it to be his obligation. But he knew that Isabella was right. It wasn't his obligation. But he felt he didn't have a choice. This was his girl. Isabella Black. Daughter of Quinn and Petenina Black. "Can we at least pretend that it's my obligation? Just so that I don't feel that I'm skipping work?"
"Sure..." Isabella said softly.
As horrible as it may have sounded, Isabella knew that he was trying to be sweet. Makial didn't want to feel like he was slipping up, but he did want to be there for her when she needed him. She was afraid of being alone. He was afraid of her going to drastic measures. Dreams were the first sign of something dangerous. His mother had had them before she committed the what they called "The Leaving Circle". Which was suicide by spell. All girls in Asoldale had powers. While the men had to earn theirs.
Makial left the room for a few moments to get into something more comfortable than his wool and polyester uniform. He took off his outfit and put on some cotton pants with a cotton undershirt. He returned to the room. Isabella was standing up. Stretching her arms. "That looks comfy." She giggled. "Heh, heh, it is." Makial replied with a smile. He hugged her and lifted her up a little. Putting her back down. "But I like you better." He smiled and kissed her lips.
"Makial Xavier, you are too sweet." Isabella smiled.
"Isabella Black, you are a liar." Makial chuckled.
Isabella wrapped her arms around Makial's neck. "I'm no liar Mr. Xavier." She kissed him on the lips. And he kissed her. He held her by the waist. He took a second of breath and said "I love you Isabella..." He kissed her again. Only with a little more passion this time. "My sweet Isabella Black. How did I ever live without you?" He smiled as he looked at her face. She was blushing and close to tears. But then let out a small giggle. "You didn't know I existed until you met me." She smiled. "And then I fell in-love instantly." He said in her ear. "I knew from then on that all I ever needed was you." Isabella smiled at Makial's words. He knew how to make her blush. Her cheeks turned a light red, but darker than pink. "Aw. My sweet Isabella is now blushing. How cute." Makial stroked her cheeks. Isabella had only been called "cute" by Makial. Others called her pretty or lovely. Or childish looking, but he was the only one who even mention her being "cute". She laughed at his words "Cute huh?" She smirked. Makial chuckled at her question. "I'm sorry for using such an over expressed understatement Ms. Black." he brushed his fingers through her hair. "You're absolutely beautiful. You make angels jealous!"
"Jealousy or envy is a sin, angels don't get jealous, they just say, that she's also pretty." Isabella corrected him.
Makial laughed a boyish laugh, the same one that showed he had to admit he needed correcting. "Well either way, you're still beautiful." He smiled and hugged her again, only this time a little tighter. "I'm the luckiest man in all of Asoldale. Or in fact, the universe." He kissed her shoulder. "I'm sure there are luckier men that don't have to tend to their significant others when they have nightmares or even have to worry at all about them." Isabella sighed. Makial looked up. "I like tending to you when you have nightmares. Just gives me more of an excuse to hold you. And those men are users. They have trophy wives. They aren't real women. Girls like you are." He gave her the look of a assurance that his mother used to give him when he was in doubt. "You've mastered that look you know." Isabella smirked. "It's helping."
"I'm glad." Makial said with a wide grin.
After a while, Isabella and Makial had walked out of the room. Hungry and in need for some food. "Eggs and Potatoes?" Isabella asked in a quick voice. "Sure. Want some juice?" Makial asked opening the cold box. Isabella looked past him to see what they had. "Some Orange juice if that's okay." Makial shook the container of Orange juice and placed it onto the counter-top next to him. He grabbed a glass and poured some in. "Want some tea?" Isabella asked breaking the short lived silence. "Sure, why not? It's actually kind of cold this morning." Makial said finishing her glass. "What kind?" "Black." Isabella said bluntly. Makial chuckled a little. 'Black tea eh?" He smiled looking at Isabella. "Perfect." Isabella smiled as she prepared the kettle. "I suppose so." She giggled. She got the joke.
