No Control (1) “Life’s Unexpected”
Chapter 3 : No Control (3) "Football Game"
I decided it was time to get up from my oh so comfy chair and walk around the studio. My legs were starting to cramp from sleeping on them and my mind kept wandering back to my mom. I was only here so I wouldn’t think about her. I tried to change my thought process to something different. It was hard at first, but then my stomach growled. I completely forgot that I hadn’t eaten all day. I guess that was easier than I thought. I continued walking around the studio, this time with a mission. Food was on my mind. There had to be something in here, a vending machine, or even a candy machine. Anything would do at this point. I came pass a door on my wandering. On the sign it read “The Jonas Brothers.” I knew this was their dressing room. There had to be food in there.
These boys couldn’t go without food for this many hours.
I knew I shouldn’t be going in there without permission, but I was so hungry I couldn’t change my mind. I had searched almost everywhere for food, but there was no food anywhere in this god forsaken place. This was my only hope. I closed my eyes and inhaled a deep breath. Slowly letting it out I placed my hand on the door knob and turned it. I peeked inside to make sure that no one was inside. I was clear to enter. The first thing I noticed when I entered was a big table full of food. There were chips, sandwich’s, and soda spread out across it. I ran over to the table and began grabbing one of everything. I began shoving things in my mouth. I acted as though I haven’t eaten in days. I hadn’t noticed a door open behind me until someone spoke.
“Who are you?” I quickly turned around. Joe Jonas was standing in front of me, his lower half wrapped in a towel, and chest bare. My mouth was still stuffed with food so I was unable to speak. I took a big gulp of my soda and swallowed what was in my mouth.
“Emily.” I said in shock.
“Why are you in my dressing room?” he asked in a harsh tone.
“I was hungry.” I said shyly, pointing at the food.
“There’s a vending machine down the hall to the left.” he pointed and glared.
My heart sunk. If I would have only gone a few more feet I would have found the stupid vending machine and I wouldn’t be looking like a fool in front of the biggest heart throb out there.
“I’m sorry…” I said and walked towards the door.
“Hey…” he said quickly before I could leave.
I turned to face him.
“Leave the soda… it’s not yours.” I noticed the soda in my hand. I couldn’t believe he just told me to leave my already half drunken soda. My eyes filled with tears, why is it that the cutest Jonas boy was the meanest. I threw the soda in the room with as much force as possible and watched it spill all over the floor. I ran from the room, tears escaping my eyes for the millionth time today. I continued running until I ran into someone.
“Woah… are you okay?” I felt someone’s arms wrap around me to stop me from running more. I looked up to see Nick.
“Why are you crying?” He put his hand on my face and wiped my tears just as Mike had done earlier.
“Joe…” I said. I guess that’s all I had to say and Nick understood.
“Ignore him… he’s an ass hole.” I was surprised that Nick didn’t even ask exactly what happened.
“Let’s go see if we can find Mike. It’s getting late, maybe he’ll take you home.” The second Nick said the word late, I began to freak out.
“What time is it exactly?” I asked hesitantly.
“ 8:46.” Nick answered after pulling out his cell phone.
I shook my head back and forth in disbelief. I can’t believe I forgot about Jared’s game. I was in so much trouble. The game probably only had an hour or so left. I had to get there as fast as I could.
“MIKE!” I screamed running through the building.
I yelled over and over again until Mike ran from a room.
“What’s wrong?” he asked scared.
“Jared’s game… I need to get there, fast.” Mike sighed and quickly grabbed my hand.
“Nick… tell everyone I’ll be right back.”
We quickly ran out of the building and got into Mike’s car.
15 minutes later we arrived at the school. Fortunately the school was closer than my house was to Mike’s work. I jumped out of the car.
“I’ll call you when it’s over!” I yelled over the cheering and ran to the gates.
I quickly showed the people at the gate my game card and entered the field.
I made it there in time for ‘Half Time’ and I felt a relief come over me.
I waited until the players piled off of the field and found Jared.
“I’m so sorry!” I exclaimed.
“Where were you? I’m sucking out there because you weren’t here.” he yelled.
“Some things happened at home… I’m really sorry. It won’t happen again.” I pleaded for his forgiveness.
“It better not, but now you owe me after the game.” he smiled and ran off into the locker room. I knew exactly what he meant by I owed him and I wasn’t looking forward to it.
Part of me wanted to turn around and run away from this, never come back, but I knew that I still had to go to school and if I ran now, next time Jared see’s me I’ll be punished worse.
I walked up to the stands and sat down. I watched the cheerleaders do there stupid little performance in the middle of the field. To me their dance/cheer looked like they were just waiting for some guy to have sex with them. Especially Holly, she was the most sluttish out of all of them. The way she bent over and the way she shook her body, it made me want to puke. For being a Christian school, I’m surprised the cheerleaders got away with the routines they did. The game finally started up again and I found myself falling asleep as they played. My eyes would shut and then someone would scream. I’d jump up from the scare and listen to people laugh at me.
The game finally ended, but I wished it would have gone on forever. Now it was time for my so called favor that I owed Jared. Fortunately they won the game so my night wouldn’t be so bad,
“Hey babe… let’s get going.”
We hopped into Jared’s Toyota and drove to his house.
The night passed slowly, tears filled my eyes again, and there was pain throughout my body. My life seemed to be falling apart. The only person I had was Mike, yet I couldn’t even be around him unless my boyfriend said so. Jared finally took me home. My dad’s car was not there and I didn’t mind. For all I cared he could be out fucking another woman… I was happy as long as he wasn’t home.
Jared didn’t walk me to the door and he didn’t stay to make sure that I got in safely. I took my time getting my front door open. When I entered, it felt eerie to me. I was scared to even go into my own house alone. Without my mom there, or even my dad it just seemed like a death trap. I decided not to go inside. I shut the door and locked it. It was almost 11pm and I was exhausted. I knew I couldn’t sleep outside so I called the first person I could think of.
“Mike… can you come get me?”
“Yeah, why though?”
“No one is at my house and it’s just a bit scary.”
“No problem… I’m still working, so I hope you don’t mind being at the studio for a few more hours.”
“It’s fine… see you in a few.” I hung up.
I was okay with going to the studio as long as I didn’t run into Joe again. I don’t think I could handle anymore crying for the night.
