“I am going to kill you…” Morgan muttered as Danita pulled the blankets off of her.

At almost midnight, Danita had decided that she couldn’t sleep. And seeing as she was staying over at Morgan’s that night…it was Morgan’s job to keep her entertained.

So they had talked for about an hour before Danita had finally decided that she was ready to go to sleep.

And right about when Morgan decided to follow her lead, she had been jabbed in the ribs by Danita saying, “I still can’t sleep.”

So they had talked for another hour before Danita had completely zonked out.

And of course, the very second Morgan’s eyelids began to droop with sleep, Danita shot up and ripped the covers off of her, demanding she get up.

“Kill me later,” Danita hissed, “There is somebody outside your house.”

Morgan simply rolled her eyes, “I told you we shouldn’t have watched that episode of the Twilight Zone. You can’t handle it Danita! You’ve never been able to—“

BANG!

Both Danita and Morgan jumped when they heard the crash downstairs.

Danita glared at her, “Believe me NOW?”

Morgan nodded quickly before she got off the bed and grabbed the telescope her mother had bought her for her seventeenth birthday. She glanced back at Danita, “Stay here. I’m going to check downstairs.”

Danita just nodded her head, her teeth clattering as she snuggled back into the haven of the covers.

Morgan crept down the stairs, her steps slow and cautious as her eyes darted back and forth.

She couldn’t help but feel like she was in some bad horror movie.

She half expected some zombie to pop out and randomly start moaning, “Brains! Brains!”

As soon as she reached the downstairs parlor, she flipped the light on, wincing as the brightness stung her eyes.

When she finally gained back her vision, she rolled her eyes.

Really—Danita and her needed to get a life. They were far too jumpy.

There was nothing in the parlor.

Nothing in the kitchen.

And nothing in the living room for that matter.

Unless some psychotic murder had decided to take solace in her bathroom, Morgan had no worries.

“Danita!” she called out, her voice sharp, “I hope you’re aware that you woke me up for absolutely nothing. Keep in mind, I have to wake up at three in the freaking morning for a—“

DING DONG!

Morgan nearly jumped out of her skin at the loud clang of the doorbell.

And clearly, so had Danita, for upstairs, she could hear a screech. And soon, the soft patter of Danita’s feet as she ran down the stairs to see what was going on.

Morgan felt the force of Danita jumping on her back, “WHAT IS IT?!”

Morgan grunted as she threw a flailing Danita off of her and walked towards the door, “I’m not sure yet. Go back upstairs. It’s probably the neighbors complaining that we’re being too loud.”

Danita sent her a disbelieving look and said, “If you die, I’ll kill you!”

Morgan simply grinned, “Alright. Agreed. Now go back upstairs. I’ll handle it.”

Danita obediently ran up the stairs and Morgan waited till her figure disappeared.

As soon as she was positive that Danita was truly out of sight, she opened the door slowly.

And gasped at what she was.

What stood in the doorway was probably the most beautiful sight she had ever seen in her freaking life.

He was beautiful

Dark hair the color of midnight that curled at his neck, golden eyes that seemed like they could scorch into her very soul, and a lean, muscular body that felt almost too splendid pressed up against her own. It had to be a sin to be so devilishly handsome. It just had to be!

And when he had gazed down at her as if she were the most beautiful thing he had ever laid eyes on in his life…she wanted nothing more than to cup his face and kiss those magnificent lips of his with a fervency that was completely unfamiliar to her.

And then he spoke, “You’re Morgan?”

She blinked at the positively normal timber of his voice.

Now, she wasn’t exactly fanciful, but she had rather expected him to have some sort of sexy and mysterious voice to match the rest of him.

But his voice was so…average.

“Um…yes, I am.” She said, at a complete loss for words.

“You need to come with me,” he said, his voice boding no further arguments.

She raised a brow at his rather arrogant tone of voice and her stance instantly grew defensive, “Uh, no I don’t.”

His eyes narrowed, giving her the distinct impression that he was not used to being talked to like a normal person, “I beg your pardon?”

She sent him a sickeningly sweet smile, “I said no, I don’t. Last I checked this was a free country.”

“And last I checked, you…I…the…” he continued to splutter until Morgan sent him a condescending smile, “Yes?”

His eyes narrowed dangerously, “I have never in my life been spoken to as you have spoken to me.”

“Yeah?”

“I don’t like it.”

“No,” she drawled, “You don’t appear the type who would.”

“I am not the type who would,” he snapped, “And its best we determine that now, shall we?”

“So, what you’re saying is that I’m supposed to fall at your feet and follow your every demand without question.”

He didn’t even blink, “Precisely.”

“Why does that not surprise me?”

“Because you seem to be a particularly sensible girl,” he said, his voice dropping to a tone that was becoming more sexy and mysterious like she had first anticipated, “And any sensible girl would know I’m not the sort of man who likes hearing the word ‘no’.”

She gulped.

Ooh, boy, she was in trouble.

She managed to choke out, “Well, that’s just not how it’s going to be, now is it?”

The man smiled, stepping forward with an intense presence that sent chills down her spine before he said gently, “Oh, believe me, my dear Morgan. It is how it will be. And you will love it. I guarantee you, you will love it.”

Morgan groaned.

She had the distinct impression that he wasn’t lying…
