Best Friends With a Beauty Queen and in Love With Her Ex
Chapter 5 : Best Friends With a Beauty Queen and in Love With Her Ex ~ Hospitalization
So, the weather is getting worse.. (in the good/bad way) It's freezing cold, but at least I can update. I'm trying to be good with updating. :S Another stall with updates is that my grandmother took a nasty fall and is in the hospital.. Ick. She's fine now, so I'm fine :D that woman is immortal, I swear. ^^ Enjoy this part! (ps. it's super short, because I am too tired to type the rest of this part.. tomorrow, maybe.)
Hospitalization
There were so many people in the room, I could hear them talking about me. Who were they? I couldn’t see anything, and no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t open my eyes or mouth. Scream, I told myself, just scream; They will hear you. Suddenly, one of the voices I reconized, started talking directly to me, "Danielle, sweet heart, it's mother. You've got to wake up now, everyone is worried, and they are missing you dearly." Mother! What is she doing here? I heard she long gone in some place that sounded like Guacamole or something... Mother... Why can't I see? Let me scream at least! Who is doing this to me?? I'm in so much pain, my head, my body.. I just ache!
Another familiar voice; Jakkel's... I felt his hand touch my face, and I awoke, my throat was sore and I was out of breath. "Danny... Are you alright? Do you remember what happened?" I was in shock. So many people that I knew and didn't were crowding me.
"Miss Vargas, do you remember anything that happened the night the fire started, before you became immobile?" A man in a large white coat was staring me down. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm not great looking, but I don't need those eyes burning my body.
I had to take a drink of water before talking, my throat was real damn dry, "Um, well, I was cooking breakfast, and my friend, Ellie, came over to tell me something.. I don't remember what, though." I stopped talking and held my head, then drank more water. Damn, I must've been screaming this whole time. "Then, everything is a blur, I believe I headed upstairs to grab something.. But I just don't know. Please, more water? My throat just burns." The large mob of people seemed to be cut in half when the man in the large white coat left.
"Sweetness, are you telling them everything? You know they need to know everything to treat you correctly." My mother said as she pulled some hair behind my ear.
Quickly, I pulled it back out, "What are you doing here?" I asked bluntly. She had no right. I've been here all by myself, even after father's missing report, and now she come running for me. Hmph.
"Well, you're my daughter, when you're in a coma for two whole days, I'm supposed to come running, it's my job." She put a pout on her face, then turned to Jakkel, whom I had forgotten was here, "Hello dear, and may I know how you know my daughter?"
Jakkel looked at me, and it seemed he was asking me the exact question I was asking myself. What are we? I nodded, letting him know to say whatever he wanted. "We're close friends, and I am also in love with your daughter, as she is me, so I suppose you could say--"
"So she's your toy? Well, while I'm around, I wont be having any playtime allowed between you two" she said very sternly to him, before turning to me and smiling. Who the hell does she think she is?!
"Uh.." I began, before Jakkel interrupted me.
"Mother who ran away and didn't keep in contact knows best, right?" Jakkel smirked, and looked right into my mother's eyes. If he looked at me, like he did her, I would get completely out of line. Those eyes are so powerful.
My mother smiled up at him, squeezed my hand, and said, "Why yes she does. By the way, my name is Margaret Winnston." She put out her hand, for a shake.
"Jakkel" was what he said, and simply glared at her hand.
"Mother, I live by myself, and I live my own life, you are not staying with me, nor are you saying who I can see." Somehow, my mother acted completely shocked at this, as if she hadn't run away, and was my best-friend-mother. She was definitely not.
"Oh dear! Your fever must be spiking for you to be talking nonsense! While you were out, I took the liberty of making a copy of your key." She pulled out hers, jingling them in front of my face and smiling. Fuck. This isn't a dream.
The next morning, I woke, not to my mother, but to Jakkel sleeping half on the bed with me. I played with his hair a little bit, noticing it was growing a bit long. He finally woke up and smiled up at me, and I smiled back. He came up for a kiss, and I allowed. It was great that he told my mother that he loved me, because now I didn't have the question in my mind of "Is he going to forget about me and go back to Ellie?" He loves me... I just remembered about my mother, noticed my discharge sheets walking up to me for me to sign, and I turned to Jakkel, "I'm staying with you right?" I pleaded.
Jakkel sleepily grinned, "Of course, my dear," he said, mocking my mother. I laughed extremely hard.
Once I had clothes to get into, and I tried to sit up, I realized how sore my ribs were. The white coat guy noticed me grab my stomach and knowing what was wrong said to me; "You have no broken bones, but you do have quite a few bruises, and we're still not sure why, but the police decided to drop that fact, and so have we. Jakkel looked at me and smiled, kissing my hand.
I finished dressing, and the white-coat-guy helped me and Jakkel out, by stalling my mother with fake forms for her to sign. When we were out of the building, we started running, and jumped into the car Jakkel had waiting out front for us.
"So I was really out for two whole days?"
Jakkel sighed, and kept silent. He was silent the whole ride, even when I started talking about how much fun it would be to stay the night with him. Just like when we were younger... He was in the same housing situation I was in, I suppose. His parents were never there, and he was taken in by some kind older people, who wound up passing and leaving him all their money. They were very rich old people. He's been on his own longer than I have; him since he was 9 and me since I was 12. I heard from others that when the old couple passed, he hired caretakers to raise him, and they did not do a bad job.
We stopped abruptly, and when I looked out the window, there was lush greens-- a forest-- and a huge mansion. My jaw fell straight to the floor, and my eyes grew wide. "Holy hell. What is this place?"
I got out of the car and kept gawking.
Jakkel walked up next to me and nudged me, "You can stop that now" I quickly tightened my jaw, "Well, I'd like you to be completely comfortable and try to understand" Jakkel walked a bit closer to the mansion, grabbing my hand so I would follow, and once we were feet from the door, he stopped and turned to me. "First, I am a prince. A very, very, very wealthy prince. Second, this is my home, where my parents reside. And thirdly..." He paused and I stared into the eyes of his that would not meet mine for a bit, but then he looked up, and his eyes were bloody red.
