Chapter 3 : well hello!
Edward is still worried about millie and david finds his way around town
Chapter 2
“Edward it’s going to be fine. Dr.Cullen said that the nurses had nothing to worry about. He even said he was more at risk. Plus I’m working with him so he’ll take extra precautions to keep me safe.” I said in a final effort to comfort Edward as he drove me in his carriage to the hospital.
“Millie I didn’t even say anything this time” but joking aside he sounded a little more at ease.
“Ahh Millie so glad to see you today!” Dr. Carlisle Cullen said as I walked in. The poor man he had been so busy lately he looked like he hadn’t slept in a long time.
“Good morning Dr. Cullen. How are you?” I asked trying to be polite. “I’m good but extremely busy as you can see,” he said gesturing around the room. Contrary to what I lead Edward to believe I was absolutely terrified to be here. My mother had died of Spanish influenza in 1916, just a year earlier. He dying wish was for me to help people get well so they wouldn’t leave their families. Luckily for my mother she just left me. My father and grandparents had all died much earlier in my life. Neither my parents nor I had any siblings so that left me alone. Lucky for me I had the two grandest friends in the whole world. Edward which spent most of his time at my house because he was afraid I would accidently kill myself if I was left alone for to long and Opal. She and I had gone been in finishing school together. At the moment I was on my way to get an IV for Dr.Cullen. He had been working on someone and noticed they were dehydrated. Dr.Cullen being the polite (and handsome) person he is kindly asked me to get an IV. I more than happily did so. That gave me and excuse to get out of that disease ridden room.
David’s POV
“NO, NO, NO this must be a dream” but every part of my being knew I was awake. Then I remembered that I saw a sign on top of the booth that said time machine. The image forced another memory out of my mind. It was a tidbit from a news paper article “Scientist Richard Stand has claimed to have created the world’s first time machine. He has yet to make it operational. Many demand the government take away his funding and put the man in a mental intuition for such claims.” Well no need to do that I just became his costumer. Oh gosh do I stick out. I had on kaki shorts and a graphic t-shirt. People were beginning to stare at me. I mean I was used to people seeing me and then they’re like “omg its David Arhculeta.” But these people are staring at me like I’m diseased. Then again I was dressed in a fashion that was over 90 years ahead. I was trying not to cause much notice to myself so I was taking the back streets getting myself lost in the process. I finally found a business looking establishment.
Millie’s POV
I was in the back room getting an IV when the back door bust open. Thanks to what Edward called my bad nerves I dropped the IV bottle on the floor and it shattered.
“Oh gosh I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you like that” the strangely dressed boy said who looked to be about my age.
“I’m not frightened. You just startled me” I said why he was dressed so strangely. “Can I help you sir?” I asked him.
“Uhh well could you please tell me where I am and uh gosh this is going to sound really stupid but what year is it too?” the strange boy said.
“Well your in the Chicago, Illinois Hospital and it’s January 7, 1917” I know it’s has only been 1917 for seven days but I was sure everyone knew what year it was.
“Oh My God” he said.
“Ahh take that back! You shouldn’t use the Lord’s name in vain” I wasn’t so bold with other strangers but I do not like it when people say that “I’m sorry I shouldn’t be so bold. But well you seem lost and very confused. Do you need any help?” I offered.
“Well uhh yeah to be quite truthful I’m really lost and have no idea how I got here” I felt a strange pity for him.
“So you mean you have no where to go?” I asked him.
“No I don’t or any regular clothes for that matter.” He had to force out regular clothes. That made me think that this kind of clothing was regular for him but that was a silly thought.
“Well I get to leave in one hour. If you want to stay here maybe I can put you up at my house.” I felt like I could trust him. It was almost like a pull.
“Oh thank you so much. You have no idea what this means to me. Oh by the way may I know my heroine’s name?” I had completely forgotten. How impolite.
“My apologies. I’m Millie Virginia Turner. Well really my first name is Millicent but I hate that. Wow I didn’t mean to tell you all that. By the way what’s your name?” I asked him. I really hadn’t meant to be so open with him but I felt that pull again.
“Oh gosh my name is David James Archuleta.” What a last name much different than ones around here.
