Doll Face, Glass Heart

Chapter 6 : Doll Face, Glass Heart {::5::}

I would LOVE to hear what you guys think is gonna happen. I promise not to tell you whether your right or wrong, unless you want me to ruin the story for you. I would also LOVE a banner. It would be the first one I ever recieved. xD (PS: I actually started off a chapter like this in Wallflower. I love starting chapters like this, it's kinda funny. Exept this one adds to the plot.)

Winter Remedy

Poke, Poke.
"Stoppp..."
Poke, Poke.
"Let me sleep!"
Poke, poke, poke.
"Dammit! I'm tired!"
Poke.
"Rupin!"
I gazed wide-eyed at the face in front of me. There was no doubt it was Rupin. He had the same blood red hair and dark grey eyes as always. He pulled me to my feet, and he still stood a head taller than me.
"What are you doing here?" I hissed.
"You haven't visited me in a few weeks." He said. "So I came to visit you."
"Grandpa is in the next room, so stay quiet!" I whispered. "If you're found here, they'll kill you."
"Then why won't you come visit me?" He pouted. It was weird to see him pout. He was usually happy and smiling, and when he was serious a stranger could easily judge him as evil.
I didn't answer, I just stared at my bare feet. There were little flecks of purple still on them from painting them back home, but most of it had wore off.
"Is it because we-"
"Shh!" I whispered.
"Why?" He asked, his face becoming serious again. "It's just a word."
"A word that attracts attention to conversations!" I whispered.
"Well, is that the reason?" He asked.
I looked at the ground again. Yes, it is the reason. I mean, I still love him just as much, but I don't know... Lie, or tell the truth. Lie, cause I have a good fake excuse, or tell the truth.
"Yes." I whispered.
"Why?" He asked, his eyes looked sad. "Did you change your mind about marrying me?"
"No!" I said. "Never!"
"Then what's the problem?" He asked.
"I don't know..." I whispered, staring at my purple flecked toenails.
"Well, taking a few days off may not have been a bad idea." He said gently. "People may have gotten suspicious."
I looked up at him, and he was smiling again. My heart swelled with affection for him. As if he was reading my mind he leaned in and planted a kiss on my lips. I wrapped my arms around his neck to keep him from pulling away.
Suddenly there was a knock on the front door (not my door) and I heard Grandpa's snores stop.
I let go of Rupin and stared at him wide-eyed.
"Go!" I said, pointing out the window. He nodded and jumped, then he was gone.
I lay down in my bed again and pretended to be asleep.
Grandpa opened the door and came in. He shook my shoulder gently.
"Wake up, Winter." He said. "You have a visiter."
I yawned and rubbed my eyes for the "just waking up" effect.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Prince Xavier." He said, and as I stood Xavier walked in. He made a face.
"Your people wear such strange clothes." He said as he stared at my nightgown, which was actually an oversized t-shirt that came down just above my knees.
"Oh, yeah." I said. "We don't really care what we wear to bed, as long as it's comfortable."
He shook his head and muttered "Strange people."
"So, what brings you here so early in the morning?" I asked.
"Well, I've noticed that you haven't been going into the forest for a few weeks and I wanted to ask you if you'd like to spend the day with me." He said.
Again? I thought, but I said "Sure."

"So, where would you like to go?" Xavier asked me. I was changed into normal clothes, a light sweater and a pair of jeans.
"I don't know." I said.
"Would you like something to eat?" He asked.
"Sure!" I said, suddenly realizing how hungry I was.
We entered a hut that was like their version of a resturant.
We sat down on these mats on the floor and this woman brought us some soup. It was a bunch of these veggies and herbs.
We finished eating and Xavier stood to leave.
"Don't you have to pay or something?" I asked.
"Why would they make us pay for food?" Heasked, then laughed.I blushed, I hated it when people laughed at me."Paying for food would be like paying to live."
"Yeah, well..." I murmured.
"Do your people make you pay for medicine, too?" He laughed.
"Yes." I said.
He stopped laughing.
"That's horrible!" He said. "What if you can't afford it?"
"You die, or you have to find better insurance."
"What is 'insurance'?"
"Insurance is a group of people that will pay for stuff for you if things happen under certain circumstances."
"What type of circumstances?"
"Like if you're hurt while your working."
"What else?"
I opened my mouth to speak but suddenly I felt like I was going to throw up. I ran over and threw up in a bush.
"I guess your human and vampire stomach can't handle certain foods." He said.
"You think?" I snapped.

Okay, I'm going to try this ONE MORE TIME.
This is Winter.
