************************ Steven’s P.O.V. *********************************
You were walking out of the hospital, towards your car, when a thought occurred to you.
‘Where were you going to go?’
Maybe back to the apartment to take a shower, get some new clothes, but there really was no where else for you to go. Whether you liked it or not, you whole life was wrapped up inside a hospital. Hayden and Wade, that really was about all you had to live for.
You unlocked the car door and sat down inside, it was still an unbelievably dirty car, the inside cluttered with wrappers and paper, but it was still a nice car.
You turned over the engine and pulled out of your parking place, eventually you made it out to the road.
Cars passed, people passed, noises and colors flowing by in interrupted unison. Even with terrible things happening to people around you, the world can still be beautiful.
You turned your head back to the road.
You slammed on the brakes so fast your head banged against the steering wheel, the tires squealed, you tried to turn away.
Then, through all the noise your car was making, the honking of the other cars, you heard a scream, a woman’s shrill shriek slicing through the commotion sounding off like an alarm in your head.
The car fell motionless, the honking stopped, everything seemed utterly silent and still. You loosened your death grip on the steering wheel and slowly turned your head.
“YOU KILLED HER!” a voice in your head screamed. No…No…No…No…
Then you saw her, a woman standing on the sidewalk, doubled over, hand over her heart, breathing deeply. She was alive though.
“Oh, Thank GOD!” you let the words ride out on a breath you didn’t realize you had been holding.
You pushed the car door open and, as fast as you could, ran to the woman on the sidewalk.
You could hear her deep, ragged breaths and you were still over 10 feet from her. Your heart was hammering in your ears, and your breath was coming in shallow bursts.
“Are…are you okay.” You asked, your voice shaking and your fists clenched in apprehension.
The girl looked up at you with wide eyes, her mouth hanging open, taking in more and more air. She blinked a few times and then seemed to really look at you. She nodded once, then closed her mouth to swallow, she opened it again and continued taking deep breaths.
“Yes…Yeah, I think so.” She said, her voice broken by gasps.
“I…I am so sorry. I can’t believe…I’m so sorry. Are you sure you’re okay?” you asked, your words rushing together. She took another deep breath, then smiled slightly, trying to reassure you.
“Yeah, I’m fine…It’s ok, don’t worry.” She said again and stood up straight. With a more genuine smile she reached out her hand for you to shake. You took it shook it gently, wondering if she was really okay.
She let go and blew out a breath and moved some dark brown hair out of her face, with a sigh she turned back to you.
“So, exciting day, huh?” she laughed and you tried to smile, but it didn’t work out quite right.
Your heart was still hammering at the thought of almost running over some innocent and unsuspecting girl. Stupid car. Stupid you.
She looked at you oddly and raised an eyebrow. Then began laughing loudly, your confusion peaked as she doubled over laughing harder. How could she want to laugh when you could have been the death of her just 2 minutes ago? This chick was crazy.
“What are you laughing at?” you said, somewhat annoyed that she wasn’t taking this seriously. She took another breath and bit back another laugh, she took a deep breath as she straightened up and composed herself.
“You should see your face.” She said and another laugh escaped her lips. A wave of anger flooded your body. This girl, you had almost killed not more than 5 minutes ago, was laughing off her death and laughing at your face.
“Do you understand what just happened or are you that stupid and immature?” you growled at her and the laughing stopped almost instantly.
“Excuse me? Who are you to call me stupid and immature?” she snapped back, pure anger replacing the once smiling face. You rose to meet her challenge.
“Your laughing and you almost died? Do you comprehend that you could have DIED and now your laughing at MY face.” Your voice grew louder and her face got redder.
“OK, I don’t know who you are or who you think you are, but I really don’t need to hear this from you. Of all people, do you understand that you almost ran ME over?” she yelled and threw up her arms, people in passing cars were beginning to watch as they drove by.
“Oh please, I didn’t even come close to you! You’re just over acting to get some attention from some random man like, I’m sure, you do all the time!” you yelled back and her mouth dropped open in shock, then she regained herself and you saw the rage shinning in her eyes.
“YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW ME!” She screamed at the top of her lungs, you saw her hand move and the next thing you know she slammed her fist straight into your nose. It wasn’t enough to break it, but it sure was enough to hurt. Bad.
The blinked your eyes a couple times and looked around, you saw the girl walking down the sidewalk away from you with angry strides, she was only about 15 feet away.
“I didn’t catch your name.” you yelled after her and she stopped walking. Slowly, controlled, she turned around, her eyes blazing, cheeks red and jaw set. Crazy, tough chick.
“Kira Sharp, don’t you ever…forget it.” She said and with one last frightening glare she turned on her heel and left.
“I’m Steven Hollows…It was nice meeting you.” She must have heard you because her fists clenched at her sides and her strides became longer. Maybe you shouldn’t mess with her anymore…Enough was enough. You brought your hand back up to your nose and checked again to make sure it wasn’t broken.
Hmmmm….Kira Sharp.

It was about an hour later that you decided to head back to the hospital. Wade should be done with his chemo stuff by now.
Another ten minutes later you were walking towards Wade’s hospital door. AS you opened the door, you stopped cold.
There laid Wade, his cheeks sunken, his breathing shallow, his heart beats irregular and weak. Deep purple bruises covered his closed eyes, his arms were bandaged and bleeding. The worst part was the vein in his arms, they ran black with whatever medicine the doctors injected him with. Against Wade’s pale skin, the black lines were like something out of a horror movie.
Then, with a frail yet quick motion, Wade fell over the railing on the gurney and threw up.
A dry sob broke from Wade’s mouth and he became very still. You felt your emotions rising, you turned away and ran.
Ran passed the patients doors, ran passed the front desk, ran passed the car.
Wade wasn’t going to make it another day. You just knew, his death lingered even on you. Wade was dead now. You didn’t have to stop your heart from beating to die…Wade was dead.
