I stared out the window. Matthew hadn't come back since my operation and I'd felt really fragile. My parents had said I woke in the middle of the night, screaming for Matthew. And they still didn't know who that was. I didn't talk to anybody really either. I thought about Matthew constantly. We pulled into our driveway. I slowly got out and walked up to my room, hoping that Matthew would be there. He wasn't. A sob escaped my lips.

I'm not gonna cry, I'm not gonna cry. But it was no use, I cried anyway. I sunk to my knees. My door opened and David came in.

"Whoa, Jamie." David picked me up and placed me in my bed, but it didn't register with me.

"Matthew!" I screamed. I thought I saw him, but he wasn't there. David stared at me. I slowly calmed down, like always.

"Jamie, who's Matthew?" David asked. I blinked at him.

"He-he's the gho-ghost," I stammered.

"Jamie, you can't be in love with a ghost!" David exclaimed.

"I'm-I'm no-not," I said in my defense. But it was useless. David was right: I was in love with him. And now that he was gone, it just made it hurt that much more.

"Think about Jamie," David said, as he left my room. I curled up in a little ball and cried again.

"Why are you crying?" A familiar voice said. I looked up into Matthew's grinning face. I was over come
with anger. I glared at him.

"I hate you!" I shrieked at him. Matthew just raised an eyebrow.

"Fine, I'll just leave." Matthew said.

"No! Please don't go, I was only kidding!" I sniffed.

"I was never going to leave. Just wanted to hear you say that," Matthew smiled his cocky grin. I rolled my eyes at him.

"You're overly confident," I said, as I searched the movies under my TV.

"Yeah, and you love me, you love me, you love me," Matthew sang.

"I do not," I disagreed. But I was blushing.

"You do too," Matthew sang.

"Matthew, you don't shut up, you'll be even deader then you are now." I growled.

"Ooh, I'm so scared." Matthew said in mock fear. I found the movie I wanted.

"Wanna watch Tarzan?" I asked, waving the movie in front of him.

"Tarzan? But that's a kid movie." Matthew protested.

"Is not. Besides it's good. Please? Pretty please?" I begged, using my puppy dog eyes. Matthew stared into my eyes for a little while. I batted my eye lashes at him.

"Oh, alright." Matthew groaned.

"Ha! You love me, you love me, you love me," I sang as I put the tape in. I danced to my bed and grabbed my teddy dog.

"I do not," Matthew muttered. I just snuggled Doggykins closer. The movie started to play.

"Hey, can I ask you a question?" I turned to face Matthew.

"Sure," Matthew answered.

"At school, how come everyone knows your name?"

"I am, er, was, the captain of the basketball team."

"Oh. What about Katie? How come she think she's your girlfriend?" I winced at the word.

"She's the captain of the cheerleading team that cheers for the basketball team. I went out with her a few times, but I didn't like her. And now she thinks she's my girlfriend."

"How do you know Ashlee?" I asked.

"Ashlee is Katie's sister. But Ashlee is a natural blonde. Katie dyed her hair from brown to blonde."

"Oh."

"Yeah," Matthew looked up at the ceiling.

"Can I uh, ask you a personal question?" I whispered.

"You can ask me anything." Matthew said, turning to look at me.

"How did you, uh, die?" I said. "I mean, I know you were stabbed and all, but why?" I added quickly.

"I don't know, honestly. I don't really remember it."

"Oh, well, I'm sorry."

"Why are you sorry? You didn't do it."

"I know, I just feel bad for you." I felt bad for myself too.

"It's okay. My death has become bearable," He winked at me. I grinned and closed my eyes. I felt cold air around me as I fell asleep.
