Not a fan of Royalty (Ryoma Echizen)
Chapter 2 : Not A Fan Of Royalty (Ryoma Echizen) #2
I'm sorry it took me so long to post this. I wasn't happy with the original version so I went through and edited the whole thing. For Shadowhunterz, who is uber cool and wanted this out.
When I arrived at the tennis courts I found them jam packed with people. Not being a people person, or anything close to social, this annoyed me.
"Ah, my future girlfriend is here,"a guy enthused, and I prayed to God he wasn't talking about me.
No such luck.
Keigo threw his arm around me, dragging me onto the courts.
"You ready?" he asked, smirking at me as he pulled a racket out of his bag.
"When you are," I replied and tugged a racket of my own from my bag.
"Alright then. Rough or smooth?" he asked, preparing to twirl his racket.
I frowned. "I call rough."
The racket spun quickly, and I didn't flinch when it clattered to the ground. Smooth.
"I've always had bad luck," I sighed thoughtfully.
"Y'know, it doesn't matter. You can serve," Keigo smirked before moving to the recieving end of the court.
"But luck's not everything. If it were, I'd probably be killed by now. Smashed to death by a falling window pane like in Final Destination 2!" I grumbled, twirling my racket in my right hand while going to my place at service.
I tossed the ball into the air and bent my knees, serving with an awkward hit. The tennis ball flew to the other end of the court.
Keigo reached to hit it with his racket, and it just barely made it back. With a practiced stroke I sent the ball back with twice the power.
As it happened, Keigo was a half step too slow.
"15-Love!"
A smirk slowly wormed its way onto his face. "I like a girl who can put up a good fight."
That was only mildly disturbing.
Frowning, I bounced the ball twice before sending it into the air. The bright yellow tennis ball went barreling through the air, just a blur to spectators. Of course, that didn't mean Keigo couldn't see it, and he sent it back at about half power, two thirds speed.
"Is this all you can do?" I asked with a mean return. He didn't react at all. He hadn't seen it.
"How did you..?"
"30-Love!"
The rest of the match went by quickly, my strength and speed increasing while Keigo's performance and self-esteem took a serious nose dive.
"Well that took longer than expected," I mused while putting my racket away and looking at my cell phone. It was at that moment that it rang, Aerosmith screaming about some dude looking like a lady.
I answered with a, "Hey, Dad."
He buzzed his request into my ear and I nodded tiredly.
"Yeah, I'll pick up some milk right after I get my uniform," I promised and slung my bag over my shoulder while moving toward the exit.
"Don't worry, Dad. I can pay for it," I silenced his worrying and stalked back toward the shop where I ordered my uniform.
"'Kay, bye, Dad."
I hung up and payed for what I ordered. After a quick stop at the grocery store I got the milk and headed "home". When I arrived, Dad was all smiled.
"How 'bout a quick game?" he asked as I put my stuff away.
"Yeah, okay," I laughed.
Not knowing this was one of the stupidest things I could agree to.
