Both Sides of Eternity ch.4
During a battle Nikolay killed a vampire and the vampire before he died told him to keep the ring and give it to his fiance. The vampire died before he could say who his fiance was. "Elizabeta.. I saw Vaslav die.. He gave me the ring and told me to give it back to you. I was the one who bit him.." he said. She gasped. "You.. killed him?" she asked tears forming in her eyes. "He was a vampire and I was in battle. I did what I was suppossed to do." he replied. She turned away from him as her bloody tears ran down her cheeks. "Elizabeta, please look at me. I will give your ring back to you.." he said. "No. Keep it. It brings too much pain.." she whispered. "I understand." Elizabeta walked away and went back to their room. She laid on the chaise lounge and cried.
She felt a cool hand on her back. "You have to move on Elizabeta.. Move on to another love.. For me.." Vaslav whispered soothingly to her. She looked up and saw him.. her love.. "Please for me darling... Move on.." he whispered and then he vanished. Elizabeta was shocked. "He wants me to move on.." she whispered. Nikolay went to his rooma nd knocked on the door. "Beta.. give him a chance.." Vaslav echoed in her mind using the nickname he had given her. She rose and went to the door. She opened the door and Nikolay stood before her. "Elizabeta I'm sorry for your loss but you have to move on. That is what he would have wanted." he said. "I know.. I will try.. I'm sorry.." she said softly. "Is there a name that I can call you besides Elizabeta?" "Beta." she replied. "Beta. That is much easier.." Nikolay said with a smile. Elizabeta smiled back weakly.
Days went by and Nikolay always addressed her as Beta. It was somewhat of a playful glance that he would give her when he called her that. She couldn't help but smile whenever he gave her that glance. It made him look like a frisky pup that wanted to play. He did want to play. He wanted to take her on a walk, take her on a ride, or maybe (if she would) wrestle with her. Elizabeta grew lonely and decided that she wanted to play too. She found Nikolay and walked up to him. "Would you like to do something together, just the two of us?" she asked shyly. "Yes of course. Is there something in particular that you want to do?" "No. You can decide.." she replied nearly blushing. He smiled at her shyness. "How about a walk?" he asked. She nodded yes in reply. Nikolay offered his arm to Elizabeta. She wrapped hers around his and they went outside for a nice pleasent walk. Elizabeta enjoyed the walk. It was a nice, cool autumn day and Nikolay was dressed in a appealing way. His long wavy hair was tied back in a ponytail and his clothing was of earthy tones. His shirt was untied at the top and was a dark green. His brown pants were tucked into his dark brown boots. Elizabeta (or Beta as Nikolay called her) was dressed attractively as usual. She wore (surprisingly) a green dress with a brown bodice. Her long raven curls were pulled back with a green ribbon and the celtic cross that he had given her was around her neck. He couldn't help but tease the raven curls with his fingers. She blushed slightly at the attention. She was so shy around him like a young girl upon meeting her intended. Simple, basic attention caused her to blush and slightly shy away.
Elizabeta was never truly given much attention. Whenever her fiances gave her attention she would shy away from them, for she was unusedto being doted upon or touched. When she first met Vaslav he tried to give her attention like the others before him and she shied away. But he didn't give up. Everyday he would give her gentle, soothing touches and speak kindly to her. She warmed up to him and eventually fell in love with him. Nikolay was using a similar approach like Vaslav. "You look beautiful today." he said in a kind way. "Thank you.." she answered shyly with a blush bringing some color to her cheeks. He smiled and continued walking with her. He began to hold her a little closer to him and she tried to move away. "Don't shy away from me Beta. There is no reason for you to be shy." Nikolay said kindly but he kept her close to him. "You have to become used to attention Beta. You will be receiving a lot of it from me." he said with a smile. She blushed more and tried to get used to the attention he was giving her.
