TWO

SLEEP, JUST SLEEP.

Aiden could now feel the eyes watching him as he walked down the streets, filthy humans. In the past he had so much respect for them, but it was different now...the world was now a different scene. Dirty and worthless...this world deserved to be on its knees dying. They all deserved to die, the Vampires the humans...everyone!

It had been four months, and winter was approaching, the air became icy and bitter. He took light easy steps into the empty room. It was an empty warehouse by the beach, the beach was, in truth, beautiful at night and it was the only good thing Aiden thought was left in this world. He looked out of a cracked wood plank that covered a broken windowpane. The moon was low in the sky and sunrise was approaching again. Like so many nights, Aiden's legs ached from walking all night, not finding one single human he could put to death. How was it so easy to hate the planet he lived on and its inhabitants...but so hard to kill one? It wasn’t true hatred…he knew…all he was doing was hiding his sadness with anger, like always…hiding.

It didn’t matter now though, all that mattered was sleep…more sleep. He had been going to sleep earlier and earlier. Aiden crawled into a hole in the wooden floor, pulling a crate over his curled body. Warmth took him and his breathing slowed, swiftly he fell into a dreamy sleep. A smile crawled over his face as he dreamt of people, no one in specific, just people. They cared like no one had before, and he dreamt of his parents…gone…a tear trickled down his dust covered pale cheek. Sleep.

***
He pondered in his chair, the plans had been sent out months ago, with no progress. The creatures were too afraid to take action. Vile things, so supportive in the beginning, but when it came time to take action, they all coward away. It wasn’t an easy thing, Will had to admit to himself, coming out of the darkness so quickly, after so many centuries of hiding from the world that would surely attempt to kill you and your family. The clan couldn’t help but be afraid.

Aiden…you wouldn’t be afraid would you? You’d surely be more than happy now, to serve your clan…to belong again. Thought Will miserably, Are you alive Little Brother? I’m sorry…I’m sorry…

“I’m so sorry.” He whispered out loud.

He walked over to the curtained window and looked out, sunrise was approaching. He had stayed up so late, it was already four-thirty in the morning. Will’s eyes ached from staying up for so long, and as the dawn approached, Will decided it was time for sleep.

Slowly he crawled into the satin lined coffin and let a heavy coma-like sleep take him. No dreams, no smile, no tears…just sleep.
