Love Potion

"Mix the sodium with the crushed parsley...." Jesse mumbled, mixing the ingredients together.
"Then add the mint leaves, and crush in to a fine powder."
He did so, following the instructions closely.
When the mixture was a 'fine powder', a grin made its way to his lips.
"Hehehe, finally it's done! I can't wait to try it out!"Forest green eyes sparkled with excitement.
Getting a small vial out from a drawer, Jesse scooped the powder in to the glass bottle.
"Jesse! Hurry up! You're going to be late!" His mom, Mrs. Woodhill, yelled at him.
"Alright, coming!"
He grabbed the vial, slipping it in his pocket, and then picked his school bag up off of the floor.
Sprinting down the stairs, he left a piece of paper on his desk, Written on it was a recipe:

Soon, Jesse arrived at the school.

"Yo, Jesse!"

"Hi Adam." The brown haired boy came running up to him.

"Did you hear about Jakes' confession to Sarah?"

He blinked, "Eh?"

Adam nodded, "Yeah, it's all over the school. Seems like he got rejected. People have been saying that she's already got a boyfriend, but that can't be true..."

Jesse sighed inwardly, I swear, Adam can be just as bad as a gossiping school girl. Heck, he might be more suited for the title then Shana. Though, that might not be true, she can't keep a secret if her life depended on it.

Adam continued to talk, not yet realizing that his friend wasn't listening to him.

Jesse's head swirled with thoughts about the potion. He kept wondering if it was going to actually work. Admittedly, he had doubts, but that didn't stop the spraks of hope that kindled in his soul that the potion would work.

The ringing of the school bell snapped him back to reality.

Walking threw the doors with the rest of the student body, Jesse's eyes gazed about for particular student.

When his search came up empty, he wondered briefly where the boy was. But he shook his head, coming out of his stupor, and tried to concentrate on Adam's ramblings about the food in the cafiteria.

The two boys parted ways, Jesse's first class being Art, he had to go in the opposite direction that Adam had to go, whose first class was Science.

"Goodmorning Jesse." Mr. Keepler greeted as he walked past the old man. He was a great teacher, and considered 'cool' by his students. Though he did demand respect.

" 'Morning Mr. K." Jesse sat down in his seat.

He started working on a picture of a cherry blosom tree, sketching out the bark and leaves.

"Ohayo Jesse."

Jesse's heart skipped a beat as he heard his crush's voice next to him.

"Goodmorning to you too Skye." He glanced at the boy sitting down next to him.

Bright blue eyes, always shinning with happiness, black hair that looked like as though he had just woken up, and a strong, lean body.

Skye wore a dog tag necklace with the kanji for fire on it. You see, he was half Japanese. And, because of that, his mother- 100 percent Japanese- taught him how to speak their native language fluently. Skye sometimes uses small words in Japanese when he talks, fortunately Jesse understands most of them because he's been Skye's friend since the begining of the year.

"What'cha working on?" Skye asked, looking over Jesse's shoulder.

"A cherry blosom tree."

He blinked, "But you always draw those."

Jesse smiled, "And I get better at them every time."

Skye siged, "Hai, but ou really should draw something else once in a while."

Jesse rolled his eyes, "Yeah, yeah."

SKye glared at him, then bopped the boy in the back of the head.

"OW!!! Why'd you do that?!" Jesse cried, holding on to his head.

"I felt like it."

He glared at Skye, "That's not a good reason!"

Skye grinned, "What'cha gonna' do about it?"

Several scenarios ra threw Jesse's head, but none were appropriate for the moment.

So, he settled for mumbling curses under his breath.

"That's what I thought." Skye nodded to himself.

Jesse ignored him, focusing on his drawing. He was going to add people to this one, and he wanted the tree to be as perfect as possible.

"Mr. Katsuma, why are you not doing your work?' Mr. K asked, Skye, towering over him.

"G-Gomen, I'll start right now sir!" Skye saluted him, before turing to his desk and starting his own drawing.

Jesse snickered, and Skye glared at him, then continued to do his work.

The rest of the period was relatively quiet, each consumed in their own thoughts.

As they were cleaning up, Jesse walked over to SKye.

"Hey, do you want to have lunch on the rooftop today?"

He shrugged, "Sure, it'll be a nice change."

Jesse smiled, "Great! See you then!"

The bell rang, and Jesse chuckled evilly in his head as he walked down the hallway. Everything is going according to plan. Soon, Skye will mine!

All his classes went by slowly, and by the time lunch rolled around, Jesse was getting anxious.

Skye met him at the footof the stairs going up to the roof.

"You go on ahead. I'll get some drinks." Jesse told him.

He nodded, and headedup the steps.

Jesse went to a nearby vending machine and punched inthe numbers in for two bottled sodas.

They popped out, and he opened one, setting it on the ground.

The he took the vial from his pocket and poured the contentsinto the drink. Shaking it,Jesse made his way up the stairs.

Opening the door, he saw Skye sitting on the ledge of the building. Jesse sat down next to him.

"Here." He handed the bottle containing the powder to Skye.

"Ah thanks. I was getting thirsty." Skye gupled part of it down.

Jesse watched closely, wonderingwhat would happen.Wouls Skye suddenly jump him? Or would he just tell him straight out that he loves him?

Neither of those things happened.

In fact, Skye just continued eating, like his drink hadn't been drugged, though he would drink from the bottle periodically.

Jesse decided to waitit out, andmade small talk with Skye.

Soon, lunch was almost over and the potion didn't seem to have worked.

"Are you okay Jesse?" Skye asked suddenly.

"Eh?' He blinked, "What do you mean?"

"You've been looking kinda,ah, nervous today."

"Don't worry, Ifeel fine."

"Are you sure?" Skye frowned, not believinghim.

Jesse waved his hand dismissively, "Seriously, I'm fine."

Skye looked ready to say something else, but the bell interrupted him.

"Come on, we'd better get going. Or we'll be late." Jesse stood up.

Skye sighed, but followed his friend out the door.

Threw the rest of the day, Jesse watched Skye, still waiting for the potion to take effect.

But Skye ascted like he normally would. Even flicking wads of paper of Jesse during their Math lesson.

At the end of the day, he walked home, depressed.

Jesse sighed, wondering where he went wrong with the potion.

"Ah, there you are!" Mrs. Woodhill said as Jesse stepped threw the front door. But she stopped speaking when she saw his head hung low.

"Jesse, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine. I'm just going to go paint. Hopefully Ill finish it today... "

She stared worridly after her son as he headed upstairs to his bedroom. Jesse was rarely this down.

Jesse sighed once more as he entered his room. Obviously the potion hadn't worked, so he was stuck with is feelings, because there was no way that he was going to confess.

He doubted that Skye felt the same way he did anyway.

Frowning, Jesse took the covering off his easel and stared at the smiling face before him.

It was painting of Skye-smiling- with cherry blosom petals floating around his head.

He took a seat on the stool in front of the portrait, and grabbed his paints.

Jesse dpped a small bristled brush in the blue colored paint, and dabbed it at Skye's eye.

Concentrating on getting the right shading, he didn't notice hit door open.

Skye looked at the boy on the stool and smiled soflty. It created a very picturesque scene.

Jesse sat there, a look of concentration in his eyes that clashed with the goofy way that hiw tounge was sticking out.

The reason he had come over was because Jesse's mom had called him, asking if he knew what was wrong with her son.

With mounting worry, he had said no, and asked if he could come over to talk to Jesse.

Mrs. Woodhill agreed, and Skye drove over as fast as the sped limit would permit.

He knew that he cared for Jesse much more then he really should.

Now though, Jesse looked perfectly normal, painting a picture of him.

Wait. What?

Skye blinked, finally noticing that Jesse was dabbing away at a portrait of him.

His breath caught in his throat as he saw the carefullness that Jesse used, trying to get every single shade right.

Skye marveled at the detils he recognized. His eyes were sparkling with the same mischievous glint that his parents said was never a good sign. The smile on his face seemed to be radiating a warmth that one would've thought only a real, live person could create.

He noted the vibrant colors of the background. Purple, orange, and red mixed together to deliver a stunning display. It reminded him of the sky at sunset.

Skye smiled when he saw the sakura petals flying around his head.

They were a ight pink color, and looking closely, Skye could see the little folds in them as they twisted and twirled at the winds' demand.

He must've been standing there longer then he realized, because suddenly, Jesse stood up, stretching.

"Ah, finally finished." He whispered as he laid the down the brush he was holding.

"It's really good."

Jesse jumped, and turned around to face the intruder.

"S-Skye... " A light blush rose to his cheeks.

Skye smiled at him, He's so kawaii.

"Y-You.... How did... No, I- I mean, when did you-" Jesse stopped stuttering when he heard Skye laugh. His face flushed even more.

Skye looked at him. Jesse's face coated in a blush, along with a few spots of different colored paint over his face, and somehow, one also on his nose, made Jesse look absolutely adorable. H- He's too kawaii.... I-.... I don't think I can restrain myself much longer....

"Skye?" Jesse said, staring in to the beautiful blue eyes, that now had a somewhat dazed look in them.

"Kawaii.... " Skye whispered.

"What?" Jesse moved closer to him, he couldn't hear what Skye was saying.

Skye's lip twitched, "So..... KAWAII!!!!!"

He tackled Jesse in a hug.

Jesse let out a small, 'oof', as he landed on his back, thankfully, on his bed.

Skye landed on top of him, straddling Jesse's hips.

"K-Kawaii?... What does that mean?"

Skye loved the confused look on Jesse's face, coupled with the rising blush, and the fact that the boy didn't seem to realize that both of his hands were placed on Skye's chest, made him look even more adorable then before.

"It means.... " Skye leaned down to rb his nose against Jesse's, "..... That I think you're cute."

His cheeks turned bright red, "W-What?"

Skye laughed lighty, "I said.... " He kissed one red cheek, ".... That I think.... " Skye kissed the other cheek, "..... You're cute." He placed his lips over Jesse's.

Jesse laidthere, frozenwide-eyed for a moment, then realized that hiscrush was kissing him.

His face turned even redder, but Jesse hesitantly kissed back.

Skye grinned, and slid a hand under Jesse's neck, deeping the kiss.

Jesse responded by wrapping his arms around Skye's own neck.

Skye licked his lip, and Jesse opened his mouth readily. They massaged each others tounges for a bit, before Skye drew back, panting slightly.

Jesse looked up at him therw half-lidded eyes, "Skye.... Will you go out with me?"

"Of course I will." Skye nuzzled Jesse's cheek, closing his eyes as he breathed in the wonderful scent that was his boyfriend.

Jesse closed his eyes, and nuzzled Skye back.

Skye pulledaway, and leaned down tokiss him again.....

"Jesse! Skye! It's time for dinner!" Mrs.Woodhill's voice cut threw their romantic haze.

They both groaned, and Jesse pouted asSkye stood up. Seeing this, Skye chuckled, and gave Jesse a peck, the boy lightly pulling Skye's bottom lip as they parted.

"Come on! The food's going to get cold!" Skye grinned, running past Jesse anddown the stairs.

Jesse laughed, before following Skye to the kitchen.

Skye laid on the bed with Jesse curled up next to him, both of them staring at the ceiling.

A light breeze came in threw the window, fluttering the papers that covered Jesse's desk.

One piece floated up, and spiraled downward, landing on Skye's face.

"Eh? What's this?" He held it up so he so could read it.

"Hmm?" Jesse mumbled, looking up at the paper. He gave a small gasp, "W-Wait! Don't read that!"

He tried to grab it, But Skye held it out of his reach as he read it.

Skye blinked, then stared down at the now blushing boy, ".... A love potion?"

"Ehehe, well you see.... " Jesse's voice trailed off not being able to answer inder Skye's gaze.

"You know, I tried the same thing."

"Really?!"

"Yeah, it was in a cookie I gave you.... " Skye grinned, "But I guess we didn't need it afterall!"

Jesse frowned thoughtfully, "Yeah, but still.... I wonder why it didn't work... "

"Hey, look!" Skye pointed to a sentence in small print at the very bottom of the sheet of paper.

" 'This potion will not work with a person, if he/she already loves someone.' " They read together.

Jesse blinked, "Why didn't I notice that before?"

Skye grinned, "Does it really matter?"

Jesse grinned back at him, "Nope."
